7. 세계를 구하기 위해서는 국가를 초월해야

그와 같은 탕감의 역사를 미국을 중심삼고 이 끝날에 한다고 보고 있는 것입니다. 이 기간에 책임을 못하게 된다면 금후의 미국은 하나님이 계속적으로 보호하는 나라가 되지 못한다고 보고 있습니다. 본인은 이렇게 생각하고 있습니다. 20세기 후반기에 있어서 세계적인 주도국가적 책임을 지던 그 미국을 자랑하지 말고, 미국 나라가 없어진다 하더라도 미국 국민이 자랑할 수 있는 사상, 30세기 40세기에 가서도 그 사상이 아니면 안 된다는 이러한 사상을 갖는다면 미국 국민은 세계를 지배할 수 있는 국민이 된다고 보는 것입니다.

이러한 관점에서 오늘 통일교회는 무슨 사명을 하려고 하느냐 하는 것이 문제 될 것입니다. 통일교회는 오시는 주님 앞에 신부를 모시고, 이런 초국가적인 운동을 세계적으로 준비해서 하나님이 요구하는 소망의 천국을 이 땅 위에 이루어 놓으려고 하는 것입니다.

그러려면 이 통일교회는 통일교회 자체를 위해서 일한다는 사상을 빼 버려야 됩니다. 하나님의 작전이 세계를 위해서 희생할 수도 있는 개인과 가정과 종족과 국가를 요구하는 것이거늘, 이러한 개인을, 가정을, 종족을, 민족을 편성해서 하나님이 바라는 나라의 터전을 만들어 드리자는 것이 우리의 사명입니다.

그러한 통일의 원칙을 가지고 앞으로 올 메시아를 중심삼고 통일된 개인으로, 가정으로, 종족으로, 민족으로 편성해야 되는데, 이러한 것을 누가 선두에서 해야 되겠습니까? 믿지 않는 사람이겠습니까, 믿는 사람이겠습니까? 종교를 가진 사람이겠습니까, 안 가진 사람이겠습니까? 이것은 기독교인 종교인들이 규합해서 해야 됩니다. 그러한 운동을 지금 세계에서 해야 됩니다.

그러려면 자기 교파를 중심삼고, 내 교파를 중심삼고 하나되지 말라는 것입니다. 하나님의 뜻, 세계를 구하기 위한 모토 밑에서 하나되어야 된다는 것입니다. 그러한 운동을 함으로써 주도권을 쥐겠다는 것이 아니라 밑에 들어가서 봉사하자는 운동을 하는 것입니다. 자기가 가진 수단 방법을 가지고, 자기의 금력, 혹은 권력, 혹은 지식력을 동원해 가지고 중심이 되는 것이 아니라 그들이 자주적으로 추대해 중심으로 세울 수 있는 운동을 세계적으로 새로이 하지 않으면 이 세계는 구할 도리가 없다는 것입니다.

여기에 나선 이 사람이 이 자리에 오기까지에는 수많은 핍박의 길을 걸어왔습니다. 기독교를 위하고 기독교의 갈 길을 제시하겠다는 데도 기독교의 반대를 받았고, 나라의 갈 길을 제시하겠다는 데도 나라의 반대를 받았습니다. 그런 관점에서 미국도 앞으로 이 움직이는 무리를 대신해서 비판받을 날이 있을 것으로 생각하고 있습니다.

그리고 선은 자기편을 희생시키면서 세계를 구하려고 하는 것입니다. 이것이 전통적 역사입니다. 그렇기 때문에 오늘날 이 땅 위에서 이러한 전통을 이어받아 자기의 측근자를 세계를 위해서 평면적으로 희생시키면서라도 남을 구하겠다는 운동을 전 세계적으로 제시하지 않고는 이상적인 어떠한 방향을 제시할 수 없다는 것은 더 말할 나위도 없는 것입니다.

앞으로 남을 위해서 세계적인 운동을 하는 사상을 가진 단체, 자기 자체를 희생시키더라도 세계를 구하겠다는 운동을 하는 사상만이 세계를 지배할 것입니다. 민주세계를 대표한 미국을 생각해 봅시다. 미국이 세계를 위해서 원조하는 것으로 일방적으로 나갔으면 미국은 언제나 세계가 추앙하는 국가가 됐을 것입니다. 미국 국민을 넘어서, 미국 나라를 넘어서 세계를 더 사랑할 수 있는 운동을 했더라면 미국은 오늘날 이런 자리에 서지 않았을 것입니다. 그러나 민주세계를 대표한 국가로서, 외국을 원조해 가지고 흥한 나라가 없는 것이 역사적인 실정이니, 우리나라도 역사적 전통을 따라가야 된다고 하면서 자기 나라를 위주로 하고 돌아서게 될 때 미국은 고립되는 것입니다.

다시 말하면 현재의 미국은 세계보다도 미국을 더 중요시하고, 세계 인류보다도 미국 백성을 더 사랑하자는 입장으로 돌아간 것입니다. 하나님의 견해는 그렇지 않은 것입니다. 하나님은 미국을 동원해서 세계를 살리려고 하시는 것입니다. 미국을 넘어서 세계를 사랑할 수 있게끔 하기 위한 것인데, 방향이 엇갈렸기 때문에 민주세계도 이 이상 갈 수 없게 되었습니다.

7. 世界を救うためには国家を超越しなければならない

この「終わりの日」にアメリカを中心として、このような蕩減の役事をすると見ているのです。この期間に責任を果たすことができなければ、今後のアメリカは、神様が保護し続けるような国にはなれないと見ています。私はそのように考えています。二十世紀の後半期において、世界的な主導国家的責任をもったそのアメリカを誇りとするのではなく、アメリカの国がなくなったとしても、アメリカ国民が誇り得る思想、三十世紀、四十世紀に至っても、その思想でなければいけないという思想をもつならば、アメリカ国民は世界を治める国民になるのです。
 
このような観点から、今日、統一教会はいかなる使命を果たそうとしているのか、ということが問題になります。統一教会は、来られる主の前に新婦をお連れし、このような超国家的な運動を世界的に準備して、神様が求める希望の天国をこの地につくり上げようとするのです。
 
そのためには、「この統一教会は統一教会自体のために働く」という思想を取り除いてしまわなければなりません。神様の作戦が世界のために犠牲になる個人と家庭と氏族と国家を求めることである以上、そのような個人、家庭、氏族、民族を編成し、神様の願う国の土台をつくってさしあげようというのが、私たちの使命です。
 
そのような統一の原則をもって、将来来るメシヤを中心として統一された個人として、家庭として、氏族として、民族として編成しなければならないのですが、このようなことを誰が先頭に立って引っ張っていかなければならないのでしょうか。信仰のない人でしょうか、信仰のある人でしょうか。宗教をもった人でしょうか、もっていない人でしょうか。これはキリスト教信徒、宗教人たちが糾合してしなければなりません。そのような運動を今、世界でしなければなりません。
 
そのためには、その教派だけを中心として、私の教派だけを中心として一つになってはいけません。神様のみ旨と世界を救うという信条のもとに一つにならなければならないのです。そのような運動をすることによって、主導権を握ろうというのではなく、下のほうに入って奉仕する運動をするのです。自分のもつ手段や方法、自分の財力、あるいは権力、あるいは知識力を動員して中心になるのではなく、人々が自主的に推戴して中心に立てる運動を、新しく世界的に行わなければ、この世界は救われる道理がありません。
 
ここに立っているこの私が、ここに至るまでには、数多くの迫害の道を歩んできました。キリスト教のために生き、キリスト教の行くべき道を提示しようと言ったにもかかわらず、キリスト教の反対を受け、国の行くべき道を提示しようと言ったにもかかわらず、国の反対を受けました。そのような観点から、アメリカも今後、この動く群れに代わって批判される日が来ると考えています。
 
善とは、自分の側のものを犠牲にしながら、世界を救おうとすることです。これが伝統的歴史です。ですから、今日この地上で、このような伝統を受け継ぎ、自分の側近の者を世界のために平面的に犠牲にさせながらでも、人を救おうという運動を全世界的に提示しなければ、理想的な何らかの方向を提示できないことは言うまでもありません。今後、人のために世界的な運動をする思想をもった団体、自分自体を犠牲にしても世界を救おうという運動をする思想だけが世界を治めるのです。
 
民主世界を代表するアメリカを考えてみましょう。アメリカは世界のために援助するほうに一方的に進んでいっていれば、常に世界があがめる国家になっていたでしょう。アメリカ国民を超え、アメリカの国を超え、世界をより愛する運動をしていれば、アメリカは今日、このような立場に立たなかったのです。
 
しかし、「民主世界を代表した国家として、外国を援助して栄えた国がないというのが歴史的な実情なので、私たちの国も歴史的伝統に従うべきである」と言いながら、自分の国を中心として背を向けるようになるときは、アメリカは孤立してしまうのです。
 
言い換えると、現在のアメリカは、世界のことよりもアメリカ自体を重要視し、世界の人類よりもアメリカ国民を愛そうという立場になっているのです。しかし、神様の見解はそうではありません。神様は、アメリカを動員して、世界を生かそうとされるのです。アメリカを超えて世界を愛することができるようにするためなのですが、方向が食い違っているので、民主世界もこれ以上行くことができなくなりました 。

7. We must transcend the nation to save the world

It is my view that a history of indemnity is unfolding during the Last Days centered on the United States. If the United States is unable to fulfill its responsibility during this period, I believe that it will no longer remain under the protection of God. Americans must not boast about the United States shouldering responsibility as the leading global power now in the latter half of the twentieth century. Even if the United States ceased to exist as a nation, you need a philosophy that you can be proud of, even to the thirtieth and fortieth centuries. If you Americans have such a commitment for the sake of the world, I believe that you will become a people who can guide the world.

Based on this viewpoint, let us interpret the mission that today’s Unification Church is trying to fulfill. The Unification Church is trying to attend the bride of the Lord, and to prepare a multinational movement to construct the kingdom of heaven of hope that God requires on this earth.

To do so, this Unification Church must reject the idea of working for its own sake. God’s strategy requires the individual, family, tribe and nation to sacrifice for the world. It is our mission to raise such individuals, families, tribes and peoples and pave the way for the kingdom that God desires.

We need to become individuals, families, tribes and peoples established on the principles of internal unity and unity with the Messiah. Who will take the lead in carrying out this task? Will it be a nonbeliever or a believer? Will it be a person of religion or a person without religion? This task needs to be carried out through the joint effort of Christians and all religious people. Such a movement needs to be realized in the world now.

Thus, do not focus only on your own religious denomination. Instead, become one with the motto of serving God’s Will and saving the world. In organizing such a movement, do not think about taking a leadership position. Instead you need to go to the lowest position and support the movement by serving others. Do not become a central figure by employing every means you can and seeking influence through the power of money, authority or knowledge. You need to build a new movement worldwide through which others will voluntarily install and revere you as their central figure. Otherwise there is no way to save this world.

The man standing before you has had to walk the path of much persecution before he could be where he is today. Even though I was working for Christianity and proposing the way for it to go forward, Christians have opposed me. Even though I was proposing the way for the nation to go forward, I have been opposed by the nation. Based on this viewpoint, I believe that a day will come when this group of hardworking people will also be criticized by the United States.

The way of goodness is to endeavor to save the world even at the sacrifice of those on your own side. This is the historical tradition. Therefore, unless we inherit such a tradition on this earth in this day and age, and build a movement worldwide through sacrifice, we cannot show the direction toward the ideal. Henceforth, only an organization that teaches people around the globe to save the world by living for the sake of others, and promotes the principle of working to save the world even if it means sacrificing oneself, will have authentic authority.

Let us think about the United States, which represents the democratic world. If the United States had stayed its course in giving assistance for the sake of the world, it would have remained a nation that is revered by the world. If it had continued its movement to love the world even more than its own people and nation, the United States would not be in the position in which it currently finds itself.

However, as a nation representing the democratic world, if the United States believes that historically there has never been a country that prospered by supporting other nations, and that it must follow that historical tradition, and it turns around and starts to prioritize itself before others, it will be isolated.

The United States today is placing its national interest ahead of that of the world, and serving the people of America more than the people of the world. God’s vision is different. God is trying to save the world by mobilizing the United States. God is trying to have the United States go beyond itself and serve the world. Democratic nations cannot progress if they are divided amongst each other.
