<p class="cafe-editor-text">< What legacies did the March 1 Movement leave?><br /><br />- Main idea: The March 1 Movement left a variety of legacies and we should think of the meaning of it considering the division of Korea.<br /><br />- Summary: The March 1 Movement that gathered people to proclaim Korea’s independence left a variety of legecies. First, it was the first nationwide rebellion that people take to the streets to protest against the repressive government. After that, the 1960 April Revolution and the candlelight protests in 2017 occured in similar ways. Second, the March 1 Movement represent Korean Nationalism. Korean nationalism resists to foreign influence by adhereing to purity. Third, unity and solidarity are also important legacies. Despite this legacies, Korea is divided is two states. Therefore, we should reconsider the meaning of the March 1 Movement in that we face the tension the division creates.</p>
