Over 100 TAFE Scholarships in 2014

At TAFE NSW, we believe in providing affordable education to international students.

We have made over 100 scholarships available to genuine applicants who want to fulfil their education dream in Australia.

The scholarships will be awarded to students who have demonstrated academic merit and other achievements.

Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Questionnaire

TAFE NSW will be introducing a Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) Questionnaire, for students from AL 3 & 4 countries to the international student application process. The purpose is to improve visa grant rates for TAFE NSW. 

Students from AL 3 & 4 will be issued with a provisional offer and asked to complete a GTE Questionnaire.

Completed forms will be assessed in line with the DIAC GTE requirement and recommendations; and full offers will be issued once the GTE requirements have been satisfied.

More details on the implementation of this process and the GTE Questionnaire will be sent to your offices soon.

Sydney outranks all other cities

The Bank of Communications Sea Turtle Index ranked Sydney 1st out of all Australian cities as a destination for international students.

International Student Leadership and Ambassador Program

Vincent Nguyen from Vietnam has been selected as a TAFE NSW representative for the City of Sydney International Student Leadership and Ambassador Program.

The ISLA 2013 program has been developed to give international students the skills to become community ambassadors to strengthen engagement between international students and the local community.

Vincent, an Endeavour Scholarship recipient, is currently studying a Diploma of Children’s Services at TAFE NSW - Northern Sydney Institute, Meadowbank Campus and is also working at a pre-school and children’s centre.

From master's to PhD, via TAFE

A Zimbabwean-born nursing student has taken out her college's top award after rounding off postgraduate studies with a TAFE nursing diploma.

Shingi Chando, who claimed the 2013 TAFE NSW - Sydney Institute Medal in a presentation ceremony recently, is the first international student to win the award.

She came to Australia last year after a six-year stint working in a nursing research department with nurse researchers in Dallas Texas, during which she obtained a master's degree in public health.

International Alumni set to return home

Febian Inke was a very proud graduate on receiving his Diploma in Community Services last week.

Since the age of 10, Febian has been deaf in one ear and profoundly deaf in the other but this has not hindered his ability to succeed.

Selected for an AusAid scholarship, Febian commenced his studies at TAFE NSW - Hunter Institute in 2011. Febian was able to complete his training supported collaboratively by AusAID, Hunter Institute's Disability Services and International Unit.
