The Standard of a Believer’s Life of Faith
The standard of a believer’s life of faith is the word in the beginning (the Bible) (Jn 1:1).
God is the word in the beginning (Jn 1:1-4), and Jesus, the son of God, is also the word in the beginning (1 Jn 1:1-2). Moreover, it is said that the Scripture cannot be broken, and that those who have received the word are gods who are like God, who is the word (Jn 10:35). Thus, the standard of a believer’s life of faith is the word.
The promise that God made with Abraham was fulfilled at the time of Moses, and the promise that He made with the Old Testament prophets was fulfilled at the time of Jesus’ first coming. Moreover, the book of Revelation, which is the word Jesus gave, was entirely fulfilled at the time of Jesus’ second coming. Hence, Jn 1:3 said, “Through him (the Word) all things were made; without him nothing was made that had been made.” The word of promise was able to be fulfilled this way because there is life inside the word.
The seed of dead wheat, which does not have life, does not sprout and become a tree just because it is planted. Only by planting a seed that has life, will it sprout and grow to become a tree, and bear fruit on that tree because it has life inside of it (Mt 13:31-32). Thus, only by the word of life being inside my heart, will the word of life within myself create me according to the word. This word is the food of eternal life; it is the seed that becomes God’s son, and it is the power that creates (us) into God’s image and likeness. Therefore, believers must not have a life of faith that believes in and follows the number of people, sign posts, power or influence, but must carry out a life of faith that believes in the word of promise, puts that word in their hearts, and lives together with the word. God and Jesus will be together with these kinds of believers. Thus, a true believer is someone who believes in the word of promise and acts according to its will. Amen.
