10. 위하여 사는 데서 천국 실현이 가능하다

오늘 저녁 여기에 참석하신 여러분도 어떤 사람이 악한 사람이고, 어떤 사람이 선한 사람인지 무엇으로 측정하느냐 하는 것이 문제일 것입니다. 그러나 그것은 간단한 것입니다. 그 사람이 아무리 종교인이라도 그가 천국 갈 것이냐, 지옥 갈 것이냐 하는 것을 무엇으로 측정할 수 있느냐?

나를 위해서 살아온 생애가 많으면 그는 지옥행입니다. 남을 위해서 산 생애가 자기를 위해 산 생애보다 1퍼센트라도 많으면, 그는 지옥을 넘어서 천국을 향하는 길에 서는 것입니다. 그렇지만 자기를 위해서 산 비율이 높을 때는 지옥에 가는 것입니다.

고명하신 여러 선생님들! 지금까지 우리는 대한민국 국민의 일원으로서 이 나라를 위해서 이바지해 왔습니다. 각자 자기가 처해 있는 위치에서 이바지해 왔지만, 그것이 누구를 위한 것이었습니까? 전 국민이 각 분야에서 이러한 사상으로 혁명하는 날에는 아무리 대한민국이 비참하더라도 희망이 있는 것입니다.

가정에서 그러하고, 사회에서 그러하고, 위정자로부터, 혹은 단체의 지도자로부터 이 민족의 정신 풍조가 이런 사상으로 되는 날에는 절대 망하지 않는다는 것입니다. 반드시 이 민족은 아시아에 영향을 미칠 것이고 세계에 영향을 미친다고 보는 것입니다.

이런 관점에서 우리가 어떻게 이상적 체제를 하나의 공식을 통해서 찾아볼 수 있겠느냐 하는 것을 결론적으로 말씀한다면, 남편은 아내를 위해서 살고 아내는 남편을 위해서 살며, 그 부부는 자식을 위해서 살고, 가정은 종족을 위해서 살고, 그 종족은 민족을 위해서 살고, 그 민족은 나라를 위해서 살고, 그 나라는 세계를 위해서 살게 되는 날에는 그 나라가 망하지 않는다는 것입니다.

하나님이 계신다면 그런 사람을 요구하는 것입니다. 하나님은 세계 만민을 자녀로 삼고 싶은 것입니다. 그렇기 때문에 하나님의 목적은 세계의 인류를 구원하는 것입니다. 더 나아가서는 우주를 구원하는 것입니다. 국가나 단일민족권의 탈을 벗지 못한 그런 종교는 하나님의 전체의 뜻 앞에 설 수 없을 것입니다.

하나님은 세계를 구하는 것이 주목적이기 때문에 그것을 구할 수 있는 가능한 단계의 차원을 어떻게 발전시키느냐 하는 문제를 생각해 볼 때 원칙은 간단합니다. 가정은 씨족을 위해 있고, 씨족은 민족을 위해 있고, 민족은 국가를 위해 있고, 국가는 세계를 위해 있고, 세계는 하나님을 위해 있으면 되는 것입니다.

그리고 세계를 위해서 있는 사람이 아니고는 온 우주를 창조하신 전지전능하신 하나님의 자녀가 될 자격이 없는 것입니다. 세계가 하나님을 위하는 자리에 선다면 하나님은 세계를 위하는 자리에 서는 것이요, 나라를 위하는 자리에 서는 것이요, 민족을 위하는 자리에 서는 것이요, 종족을 위하는 자리에 서는 것이요, 가정을 위하는 자리에 선다는 것입니다.

이 말을 다른 말로 바꾸어서 한다면, 내 것은 아내의 것이요, 그 부부의 것은 가정의 것이요, 가정의 것은 씨족의 것이요, 씨족의 것은 민족의 것이요, 민족의 것은 국가의 것이요, 국가의 것은 세계의 것이라는 관념을 가진 그 세계는 결국 하나님의 것이 됩니다.

하나님의 것이면 그것은 누구의 것입니까? 내 것이 되는 것입니다. 그런 자리에 나아가야만 여러분의 욕망을 최고로 달성한 자리에 서게 됩니다.

여러분! 그렇지 않습니까? 사람은 누구나 세계 제일이 되고 싶은 그런 욕망을 가지고 있는 것입니다. 그러한 가치적인 존재가 되기 때문에 만유의 중심인 하나님의 것이 비로소 내 것이 될 수 있는 그런 영광의 자리에 인간이 설 수 있다는 것입니다.

이렇게 볼 때 위해서 사는 데서만이 가정 천국의 실현이 가능한 것이요, 국가 천국의 실현이 가능한 것이요, 세계 천국의 실현이 가능한 것입니다. 이뿐만 아니라 하나님도 인류와 더불어 행복하고 이상적인 동산이라고 하며 춤을 추고 노래할 수 있는 세계로 연결될 것입니다.

그런 것이 바로 종교가 목적하는 천국이요, 그러한 천국이 지상에서 이루어지는 것이기 때문에 그곳이 바로 지상천국이라는 결론이 나오는 것입니다.

여러분! 오늘 이와 같은 만찬회를 통해서 ‘위해서 존재한다’ 하는 이 원칙을 가지고 이제 돌아가셔서 가정과 직장에서부터 그럴 수 있는 여러분이 되시기 바랍니다. 그렇게 사시는 자신을 발견하는 날 여러분은 보다 흐뭇한 내일의 소망을 가지게 될 것이고, 내일의 개척자로서의 중심적인 책임을 당당히 하는 자신을 발견할 것입니다.

부디 그럴 수 있는 여러분이 되기를 바라면서 여러분의 가정과 여러분의 사회와 이 나라에 가일층 하나님의 축복이 있기를 바랍니다. 위해 존재한다는 내용을 오늘 저녁 인사 겸 여러분 앞에 말씀드렸습니다. 이것으로 본인의 말을 끝맺고자 합니다.

第3章 ために生きる世界

10. ために生きるところでのみ天国実現が可能

今晩ここに参席されている皆様も、「どのような人が悪の人であり、どのような人が善の人か」、これを何で測定するかということが問題だと思います。しかし、それは簡単なことです。その人がいくら宗教人であっても、「その人は天国に行くか、地獄に行くか」ということを何で測定できるのでしょうか。

自分のために生きてきた生涯が多ければ、彼は地獄行きです。他のために生きた生涯が、自分のために生きた生涯よりも一パーセントでも多ければ、彼は地獄を越えて天国に向かう道に立つのです。ところが、自分のために生きた比率が高い場合は地獄に行くのです。
 
御高名な諸先生方。今まで私たちは大韓民国の国民の一員として、この国のために貢献してきました。各自、自分の置かれている位置で貢献してきましたが、それは誰のためのものだったのでしょうか。全国民が各分野において、このような思想で革命をした場合には、いくら大韓民国が悲惨だったとしても、希望があるのです。

家庭でそうであり、社会でそうであり、為政者から、あるいは、団体の指導者から、この民族の精神風潮がこのような思想からなった場合には、この民族は絶対に滅びないのです。必ずこの民族はアジアに影響を及ぼすはずであり、世界に影響を及ぼすと思います。
 
このような観点から、私たちがいかにして理想的な体制を、一つの公式を通して探し出すことができるのかということを、結論的にお話しすれば、夫は妻のために生き、妻は夫のために生き、その夫婦は子女のために生き、家庭は氏族のために生き、その氏族は民族のために生き、その民族は国のために生き、その国は世界のために生きる、そのような国になった場合には、この国は滅びません。
 
神様がいらっしゃるならば、そのような人を求めるのです。神様は、世界万民を子女にしたいと思うのです。ですから、神様の目的は世界の人類を救うことです。さらには、宇宙を救うことです。国家や単一民族圏の枠を超えることのできないような宗教は、神様の全体のみ旨の前に立つことはできないでしょう。
 
神様は世界を救うことが主目的なので、それが可能な段階へといかに次元を高めて発展させるかという問題を考えてみるとき、原則は簡単です。家庭は氏族のためにあり、氏族は民族のためにあり、民族は国家のためにあり、国家は世界のためにあり、世界は神様のためにあればよいのです。そして、世界のために生きる人間でなければ、全宇宙を創造された全知全能であられる神様の子女となる資格はないのです。

世界が神様のために生きる立場に立つならば、神様は世界のために生きる立場に立つのであり、国のために生きる立場に立つのであり、民族のために生きる立場に立つのであり、氏族のために生きる立場に立つのであり、家庭のために生きる立場に立つのです。
 
この話を別の言葉に言い換えると、自分のものは妻のものであり、その夫婦のものは家庭のものであり、家庭のものは氏族のものであり、氏族のものは民族のものであり、民族のものは国家のものであり、国家のものは世界のものだという観念をもったその世界は、結局、神様のものになるのです。神様のものであれば、それは誰のものでしょうか。「私」のものになるのです。そのような立場に立ってこそ、皆様の欲望を最高度に達成する立場に立つようになります。
 
皆様。そうではないでしょうか。人は誰しもが、「世界一になりたい」という欲望をもっています。そのような価値のある存在となるので、万有の中心である神様のものが、初めて「私」のものになり、そのような栄光の立場に人間は立つことができるのです。

このように見るとき、ために生きるところでのみ、家庭天国の実現が可能であり、国家天国の実現が可能であり、世界天国の実現が可能なのです。それだけではなく、神様も人類と共に、「幸福で、理想的な園だ」と言いながら、踊って歌うことのできる世界へと連結されるのです。そのようなものが、正に宗教が目的とする天国であり、そのような天国が地上で築かれるので、そこが正に地上天国であるという結論が出るのです。
 
皆様。きょう、このような晩餐会を通して「ために存在する」というこの原則を心に刻んで、今からお帰りになりましたら、家庭や職場から、そのように実践する皆様になってくださることを願います。

そのように暮らす自分を発見した場合には、皆様はより満ち足りたあすの希望をもつことになり、あすの開拓者としての中心的な責任を堂々と果たす自分を発見するでしょう。 どうか、そのような皆様になってくださることを願いながら、皆様の家庭と皆様の社会とこの国に、より一層の神様の祝福があることを願います。「ために存在する」というテーマについて、今晩の挨拶に代えて皆様にお話ししました。これで私のお話を終えようと思います。

10. The realization of the kingdom of heaven

Those of you present here this evening may wonder how you can know whether someone is evil or good. How can you determine whether even a religious believer will go to heaven or hell? The answer is simple. If the person has lived more for himself or herself than for others, then the person is bound for hell.

Yet if the portion of his or her life lived for others is greater even by one percent than the part lived for himself or herself, that person will travel the road that bypasses hell and leads to heaven. Again, if the percentage of his or her living selfishly is even a little higher, then he or she will sink into hell.
 
Distinguished leaders, up to this point we have contributed to Korea as its citizens. We have all contributed something from our respective positions. However, what was our motivation?

If all of Korea’s citizens can be reenergized in their respective fields through the worldview of living for the sake of others, then no matter how dismal Korea’s current situation is, there will still be hope.

If such a worldview is adopted in shaping the attitude of the Korean people in the family, in society, in the government and among the leaders of organizations, this nation will never come to ruin. I believe that this people without a doubt will influence Asia and the world.
 
The single formula based on this worldview, by which we can conceive the ideal social system, is simply that of a husband living for his wife, a wife living for her husband, a couple living for their children, a family living for their clan, a clan living for the society, a society living for the nation and a nation living for the world. Such a nation will never perish.
 
If there is a God, He desires such people. He wants everyone to be His children. Therefore His goal is to save all humanity and even the universe. Religions need to take off the fetters of nationalism, ethnocentrism and racism in order to stand before the full Will of God.

Since God’s main purpose is to save the world, we must ponder how to develop a step-by-step process to make this extent of salvation possible. The principle is actually very simple.

All it takes is for the family to exist for the clan, the clan to exist for the people, the people to exist for the nation, the nation to exist for the world and the world to exist for God.

Unless you are a person who exists for the world, you cannot be eligible to become a child of the omnipotent and omniscient God, who created the universe. If the world stands in the position of existing for the sake of God, God will stand in the position of existing for the sake of the world, for the sake of the nation, for the sake of the people, for the sake of the tribe and for the sake of the family.
 
In other words, a world that upholds the notion that what belongs to me belongs to my wife, what belongs to the couple belongs to the family, what belongs to the family belongs to the clan, and what belongs to the clan belongs to the people, what belongs to the people belongs to the nation and what belongs to the nation belongs to the world, such a world will eventually belong to God. When something belongs to God who does it also belong to? It belongs to me. Only when you have attained such a position can you hope to achieve your greatest desires.
 
Ladies and gentlemen, is this not true? Everyone has the desire to become the best in the world. Since we can become beings of such value, we human beings can stand in the position of glory, where what belongs to God, the center of all things in the world, also belongs to us. In this regard, the realization of heaven in the family, heaven in the nation and heaven in the world becomes possible only through living for the sake of others.

Not only that, we will also connect to the world where God can be happy together with humankind. This will be the world that can be called the ideal garden, wherein everyone can dance and sing. Such a place is the heaven that religions pursue, and it is this heaven that will be realized on earth. Thus, we can conclude that such a place is the kingdom of heaven on earth.
 
Ladies and gentlemen, I hope that through this event you have embraced this principle of “existing for the sake of others” and that you will now embody it by practicing it in your homes and workplaces.

On the day you begin living in such a manner, you will see a future more and more hopeful and joyful unfold, and you will discover yourselves boldly fulfilling central responsibilities as the pioneers of tomorrow.
 
I hope you will strive to become such people, and I pray that the great blessings of God will be with your families, your society and this nation. I have spoken before you this evening on the subject of existing for the sake of others. With these words, I now conclude this address.
