SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- An opposition-led parliamentary committee issued orders on Wednesday to bring impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol and six others involved in Yoon's marital law declaration to appear at the National Assembly as witnesses.

The special committee investigating Yoon's insurrection charges issued the orders after Yoon, former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun and five other military officials did not appear despite having been adopted as witnesses for its first hearing. The orders required their appearance by 2 p.m.

Yoon, who faces charges of insurrection and abuse of power over his short-lived martial law declaration on Dec. 3, has been detained at the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, south of Seoul, since Sunday.

野 주도 발부…與 반발 “대통령 망신주기”

‘윤석열 정부의 비상계엄 선포를 통한 내란 혐의 진상규명 국정조사 특별위원회’는 22일 야당 주도로 윤석열 대통령과 김용현 전 국방부 장관 등 7명에 대한 동행명령장을 발부했다.

국정조사 특위는 이날 국회에서 열린 특위 1차 청문회에 증인으로 채택된 윤 대통령과 김 전 장관이 불출석 사유서를 제출하지 않고 청문회장에 나오지 않자, 이날 오후 2시까지 출석할 것을 요구하는 동행명령장을 의결했다.

더불어민주당 소속 안규백 특위 위원장은 이날 동행명령 안건을 표결에 부쳤고, 재적 위원 18명 중 찬성 11명·반대 7명으로 통과했다.

동행명령장 명단에는 윤 대통령과 김 전 장관, 노상원 전 정보사령관, 김용군 전 대령, 곽종근 전 육군특수전사령관, 문상호 전 정보사령관, 구삼회 육군 2기갑여단장이 포함됐다.

여당인 국민의힘은 “대통령이 구속된 상태에서 동행명령장을 발부해 출석시키겠다는 것은 대통령 망신주기”라고 반발하며 표결에 반대했다.
