Firefighters and Western Australians are bracing for impact after authorities warned dangerous conditions were ripe for a significant bushfire emergency as temperatures in the Perth region began to climb on Saturday.
Perth is forecast to reach 38 degrees on Saturday, although the Bureau of Meteorology warned the mercury could tip over 40 degrees in some parts of the state.
If the mercury does climb into the forties, it would be the third time temperatures reached the mark in November since records began more than 120 years ago.
In contrast, the south west is expected to experience thunderstorms throughout Saturday morning.
