Bible Reading - Proverbs 23:13~24

23:13 Do not withhold(보류하다,그만두다) discipline from a child;

아이를 징계하는 것을 그만 두지 말라.

if you punish him with the rod(막대기,회초리), he will not die.

만일 네가 그를 회초리로 처벌해도 그는 죽지 않을 것이다. 

23:14 Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.

회초리로 그를 처벌하여 그의 영혼을 사망으로부터 구하라.

23:15 My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad;

내 아들아, 만일 너의 마음이 현명하다면, 그러면 내 마음이 기쁠 것이다. 

23:16 my inmost(가장 깊은) being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.

너의 입술이 옳은 말을 할 때, 내 마음(가장 깊은 존재)은 기뻐할 것이다.

23:17 Do not let your heart envy(부러워하다. 질투하다) sinners, 네 마음으로 죄인들을 부러워하지 말고 

but always be zealous(열성적인) for the fear of the LORD.

오직 여호와를 경외하는 마음으로 항상 열심을 내라.

23:18 There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off(끊어지다).

너에게 분명 미래의 소망이 있고, 너의 소망은 끊어지지 않을 것이다.

23:19 Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path.

잘 들어라, 내 아들아, 현명하라. 그리고 네 마음을 올바른 길로 지켜라.

23:20 Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge(음식을 마구 먹다) themselves on meat,
너무 많은 포도주를 마시거나 고기를 마구 먹는 자들과 어울리지 말라.

23:21 for drunkards(술고래들) and gluttons(탐식가들) become poor,

술고래들과 탐식가들은 가난하여지며 

and drowsiness(졸음) clothes them in rags.(누더기) 졸음이 그들로 하여금 누더기를 입게 한다.

23:22 Listen to your father, who gave you life, 

너에게 생명을 주셨던 너의 아버지에게 들으며
and do not despise(멸시하다. 업신여기다) your mother when she is old.

 너의 어머니가 늙을때 그녀를 멸시하지 말라.

23:23 Buy the truth and do not sell it; 진리를 사서 팔지 말아라.

get wisdom, discipline and understanding. 지혜와 훈육과 명철을 얻으라.

23:24 The father of a righteous man has great joy; 의로운 사람의 아버지는 큰 기쁨이 있으며

 he who has a wise son delights in him.지혜로운 아들을 둔 자는 그를 기뻐한다.
