인내와 위로의 하나님 (롬 15 : 1~13) May the God who gives endurance and encouragement.

인내와 위로는 강한 자 만의 특권입니다. 성숙하고 강한 사람이 약하고 어린 영혼을 섬길 수 있습니다. 울어대는 아기를 묵묵히 돌보는 것은 어머니입니다. 어린 아기가 부모를 돌볼 수는 없습니다. 성숙의 지표는 인내이며 건전한 강함은 약한 자를 위로하는 태도입니다. 자신의 강함을 믿고 어리고 미성숙한 자를 교정하려 든다면 그는 영적 성숙의 기본을 모르는 사람입니다.

영적 성숙은 외부의 압력에 의해 이루어지지 않습니다. 자발적 헌신과 감사의 표현으로 그 마음속에서 자연스레 일어나는 것입니다. 과일이 익어가듯이 싹이 돋아나 꽃이 피고 열매를 맺고 시간이 지나면 문득 성장해 있는 것입니다. 오랜만에 만난 친척 아이가 키가 쑥 커져있고 어른스런 목소리를 내듯 신앙 인격의 성장은 계절을 지나게 됩니다.

예수님도 오랜 인내로 우리를 바라보고 계셨습니다. 그리고 그의 오래참으심을 우리도 닮아가기를 원하십니다. 십년 후를 보면 나무를 심고 백년을 바라보면 교육을 한다는 말처럼 여러 계절을 지난 한 사람의 성숙과 변화는 사람과 하나님에게 위로를 줍니다. 예수님은 자신의 생명을 씨로 심어 교회라는 열매를 보셨고 이제 교회안에서 그를 닮은 영적 후손들이 많이 일어나는 것을 보길 원하십니다.

그는 자신이 다윗왕조의 뿌리에서 나셔서 열방의 소망이 되셨습니다. 이제 왕같은 제사장된 우리도 그 분의 자녀로서 세상을 다스리며 열방을 향한 기도의 발걸음을 내딛기를 원하십니다. 모든 기쁨과 평강이 믿음안에서 충만하여 성령의 능력으로 소망이 넘치는 인생을 살기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

Patience and comfort are privileges reserved for the strong.
Only those who are mature and grounded can truly serve the weak and the young in spirit. Just as a mother quietly tends to her crying child, it is the strong who care for the vulnerable. A child cannot care for their parents. The true measure of maturity is patience, and genuine strength is revealed in the gentle act of comforting others. If someone uses their strength to correct the immature, they reveal a lack of spiritual understanding.

Spiritual maturity cannot be forced from the outside.
It blossoms naturally from within—through voluntary devotion and heartfelt gratitude. Like fruit ripening on a tree, growth unfolds quietly: a sprout emerges, a flower blooms, and in time, fruit appears. One day, we notice that growth has happened. Just as a child we haven’t seen in years suddenly stands taller and speaks with a deeper voice, spiritual growth passes through seasons.

Jesus watches us with enduring patience.
He longs for us to reflect His long-suffering heart. As the saying goes, “If you look ten years ahead, plant a tree; if you look a hundred years ahead, educate.” The transformation of a soul through many seasons brings comfort to both people and to God. Jesus sowed His life as a seed and saw the church as its fruit. Now, He desires to see many spiritual descendants within the church who bear His likeness.

He came from the root of David and became the hope of the nations.
As royal priests, we are His children—called to govern with grace and to walk in prayer for the nations. May joy and peace overflow through faith, and may we live lives filled with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. I bless you in the name of the Lord to live such a life.
