사람이 무슨일을 해내는 사람은 능력과 재능이 많아서가 아니고 
People who acomplish things is not because they posess great ability and talent
그 입으로 할 수 있다고 말하기 때문이고 
but because they say they can do it with their mouths
사람이 아무일도 못해내는 사람은 능력과 재능이 없어서가 아니고 
conversely someone who fails at anything is not because they lack ability and talent
해보지도 않고 그 입으로 못한다고 말하기 때문이다. 
but because they say they can't do it with their mouth without even trying. 

할수 있다. 하면 된다. 해보자. 다 된다. 
you can do it. if you do, it will work. Let's give it a try. Everything will be done. 

그 사람도 그 여자도 다 할 수 있는데 왜 나는 안돼나?

Let me tell you a story. 

전세계가 토목학계가 경악한 정주영 회장의 신의 한 수
the chairman Chung Ju young's divine move that shocked the global civil engineering community. 

집채만한 바위가 통째로 쓸려나가는 급류를 한국 유조선 하나로 막아내자  세계 토목학회가 경악했다.  
The world civil engineering society was astonished when a single Korean oil tanker managed to block a torrent capable of sweeping away boulders(huge stone) the size of house. 

배경은 서산 간척사업 막바지였는데  바다를 메우는 막바지 단계에서 270미터 마지막 물길을 끊어야 하는 최대 난관에 부딪혔다. 
The background was the final stage of the Seosan land reclamation project; during the last phase of filling in the sea, they faced a major hurdle: cutting off the final 270-meter waterway.

바닷물이 드나드는 이 물목만 막으면  사업이 끝나는 상황이었다.  
The situation was such that blocking this channel, through which seawater flowed in and out, would complete the project.

문제는 이 구간의 물살이 초속 8미터로 어찌나 거센지 트럭으로 집채만한 바위를 쏟아 부어도 그대로 슬려 나가버렸다.
The problem was that the current in this section was so fierce—at 8 meters per second—that even when boulders the size of houses were dumped in by truck, they were simply swept away

 바위가 흔적도 없이 사라지니 공사는 제자리걸음이었고 비용만 눈덩이처럼 불어났다. 
As the boulders vanished without a trace, construction stalled, and costs ballooned.

이대로 사업 전체가 엎어질 판이었다. 
The entire project was on the verge of collapse.

다들 손을 놓고 있을 때 정주영 회장이 남들이 상상도 못한 카드를 꺼냈다.
While everyone else stood by, Chairman Chung Ju-yung pulled out a card that no one could have imagined. 

폐기 직전인 고철 유조선을 통째로 가라앉혀 물길을 막아버리자는 것으로 실제로 스웨덴에서 사온 23만톤 짜리 초대형 유조선을 그자리까지 끌고와 가로로 눞혀 거대한 배가 물살을 막아버리자 그 사이에 흙을 부어 순식간에 물길을 끊어버렸다. His plan was to block the waterway by sinking an entire scrap metal oil tanker on the verge of being scrapped. In fact, a 230,000-ton supertanker purchased from Sweden was towed to the site and laid on its side; as the massive vessel blocked the current, soil was poured in between to instantly cut off the water flow.

이 방법으로 공사기간을 몇년이나 앞당기고 비용도 수백억을 아껴버렸다.
This method advanced the construction period by several years and saved tens of billions of won in costs.

세계 어디에도 없던 방법이라 유조선 공법이라는 이름을 붙여 외신을 타고 토목 교과서에까지 실렸다.
As a method unprecedented anywhere in the world, it was named the "Oil Tanker Method," gaining coverage in foreign media and even being featured in civil engineering textbooks.

돈 없고 기술없던 시절 배짱하나로 세계를 놀래킨 사건이었다.
It was an event that astonished the world with sheer audacity in an era lacking both money and technology.

안되면 되게 하는 게 그시절 한국이 세운 진짜 공법이었다. 
If it's not working then making the impossible possible, that was the true construction method established by Korea during that time.
