True Faith to Correctly understand & obey God’s Providence, as a Coincidence

성경말씀: 에스더 4~6장

Scripture Reading: Esther 4~6

“태초에 하나님이 천지를 창조하시니라 - 하나님이 지으신 그 모든 것을 보시니 보시기에 심히 좋았더라 저녁이 되고 아침이 되니 이는 여섯째 날이니라(창1:1, 31) - 이 일은 내가 태초부터 행하였고 옛날부터 정한 바라(왕하19:25)” 하였듯, 무엇이든 생각하고 말씀하시는 대로 모든 것을 이루시는 전지전능하신 하나님이시지만, “동산 각종 나무의 열매는 네가 임의로 먹되, 선악을 알게 하는 나무의 열매는 먹지 말라 네가 먹는 날에는 반드시 죽으리라(창2:16-17)” 하였듯, 자유롭게 선택할 권한을 사람에게 주셨고, “각 사람이 행한 대로 갚으리라(마16:27)” 하였듯, 심판 받을 책임도 함께 주셨으므로, 모든 것을 하나님의 뜻대로 섭리하시며 이루어 가시지만, “너희 안에서 행하시는 이는 하나님이시니 자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 너희에게 소원을 두고 행하게 하시나니(빌2:13)” 하였듯, 사람이 자기 의지로 생각하고 행하거나 지극히 우연처럼 역사하시므로, 영적으로 깨어 있지 않은 사람은 깨닫지 못합니다.

God is omnipotent and omniscient, who does whatever he thinks and say, as “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, - God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning-the sixty day (Genesis1:1, 31) – In days of old I planned it; now I have brought it to pass (2Kings19:25)” but He gave man the power to choose and act freely, as “The Lord God commanded the man, ‘You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die (Genesis2:16-17)” And He also made it a point to take responsibility for the life you chose and to be judged, as “Will reward each person according to what he has done (Matthew16:27)” However, since God governs and speaks everything in the world according to his will, He does so in a very natural way that each person thinks and acts on his own or feels it as if it were a coincidence, so, unless you are spiritual awake, you will never know it, as “For it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose (Philippines2:13)”

그러므로 “왕후 와스디를 청하여 왕후의 관을 정제하고 왕 앞으로 나아오게 하여 그의 아리따움을 뭇 백성과 지방관들에게 보이게 하라 하니 이는 왕후의 용모가 보기에 좋음이라. 그러나 왕후 와스디는 내시가 전하는 왕명을 따르기를 싫어하니 왕이 진노하여 마음속이 불붙는 듯하더라(1:11-12)” 하였듯, 왕후 와스디가 왕명을 거역하여 아하수에로 왕의 분노를 일으키고, 왕이 대신들과 의논하고 폐위를 시킨 것은, “왕이 모든 여자보다 에스더를 더 사랑하므로 그가 모든 처녀보다 왕 앞에 더 은총을 얻은지라 왕이 그의 머리에 관을 씌우고 와스디를 대신하여 왕후로 삼은 후에, 왕이 크게 잔치를 베푸니 에스더를 위한 잔치라 모든 지방관과 신하들을 위하여 잔치를 베풀고 또 각 지방의 세금을 면제하고 왕의 이름으로 큰 상을 주니라(2:17-18)” 하였듯, 하만의 악한 음모에 대비하여 유다인 에스더를 왕후로 세우시고 사용하시려는 하나님의 섭리였습니다.

Therefore, there was an incident where Queen Vashti disobeyed the king’s command, provoked King Xerxes’ anger and was deposed by the prices, as “To bring before him Queen Vashti, wearing her royal crown, in order to display her beauty to the people and nobles, for she was lovely to look at. But when the attendants delivered the king’s command, Queen Vashti refused to come. Then the king became furious and burned with anger (1:11-12)” It was God’s providence to appoint and use Esther, a Jew, as queen in preparation for Haman’s evil plot that would unfold in the future, as “Now the king was attracted to Esther more than to any of the other women, and she won his favor and approval more than any of the other virgins. So, he set a royal crown on her head and made her queen instead of Vashti. And the king gave a great banquet, Esther’s banquet, for all his nobles and officials. He proclaimed a holiday throughout the provinces and distributed gifts with royal liberality (2:17-18)”

그러므로, “모르드개가 대궐 문에 앉았을 때에 문을 지키던 왕의 내시 빅단과 데레스 두 사람이 원한을 품고 아하수에로 왕을 암살하려는 음모를 꾸미는 것을, 모르드개가 알고 왕후 에스더에게 알리니 에스더가 모르드개의 이름으로 왕에게 아뢴지라. 조사하여 실증을 얻었으므로 두 사람을 나무에 달고 그 일을 왕 앞에서 궁중 일기에 기록하니라(2:21-23)” 한 것도, “여호와가 아말렉과 더불어 대대로 싸우리라(출17:16)” 하셨던 언약대로 아말렉의 후손 하만을 충동하여 유다인을 대적할 악한 음모를 꾸미게 하시고, 그의 악한 음모를 무너뜨리고 멸망시키는 자로 모르드개와 에스더를 사용하려는 하나님의 사전 작업이었습니다.

Therefore, it was also God’s providence that Mordecai, sitting at the palace gate, overheard and evil plot to assassinate the king and reported it, as “During the time Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate, Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway, became angry and conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. But Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther, who in turn reported it to the king, giving credit to Mordecai. And when the report was investigated and found to be true, the two officials were hanged on a gallows. All this was recorded in the book of the annals in the presence of the king (2:21-23)” In order to fulfill God’s covenant, God incited Haman a descendant of Amalek, to an evil plot to annihilate the Jews, and it was God’s preemptive plan to use Mordecai and Esther to take advantage of Haman’s evil plot and destroy Amalek, as “The Lord will be at war against the Amalekites from generation to generation (Exodus17:16)”

“하만이 모르드개가 무릎을 꿇지도 아니하고 절하지도 아니함을 보고 매우 노하더니, 그들이 모르드개의 민족을 하만에게 알리므로 하만이 모르드개만 죽이는 것이 부족하다고 생각하고 아하수에로의 온 나라에 있는 유다인 모르드개의 민족을 다 멸하고자 하더라. 아하수에로 왕 제십이년 첫째 달 니산월에 무리가 하만 앞에서 날과 달에 대하여 부르 제비를 뽑아 열두째 달 아달월을 얻은지라 - 첫째 달 십삼일에 왕의 서기관이 소집되어 하만의 명령을 따라 왕의 대신과 각 지방의 관리와 각 민족의 관원에게 아하수에로 왕의 이름으로 조서를 쓰되 곧 각 지방의 문자와 각 민족의 언어로 쓰고 왕의 반지로 인치니라. 이에 그 조서를 역졸에게 맡겨 왕의 각 지방에 보내니 열두째 달 아달월 십삼일 하루 동안에 모든 유다인을 젊은이 늙은이 어린이 여인들을 막론하고 죽이고 도륙하고 진멸하고 또 그 재산을 탈취하라(3:5-7, 12-13)” 하였듯, 유다인을 전멸시킬 악한 음모를 꾸미게 하셨습니다.

So, God made Haman plot and attempt an evil plan 세 destroy all the Jews, as “When Haman saw that Mordecai would not kneel down or pay him honor, he was enraged. Yet having learned who Mordecai’s people were, he scorned the idea of killing only Mordecai. Instead Haman looked for a way to destroy all Mordecai’s people, the Jews, throughout the whole kingdom of Xerxes. In the twelfth year of King Xerxes, in the first month, the month of Nisan, they cast the pur (that is, the lot) in the presence of Haman to select a day and month. And the lot fell on the twelfth month, the month of Adar – Then on the thirteenth day of the first month the royal secretaries were summoned. They wrote out in the script of each providence and in the language of each people all Haman’s orders to the king’s satraps, the governors of the various provinces and the nobles of the various peoples. These were written in the name of King Xerxes himself and sealed with his own ring. Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews-young and old, women and little children-on a single day, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods (3:5-7, 12-13)”

하만에게 머리를 숙이지 않은 모르드개로 말미암아 모든 유다인이 전멸을 당하게 되었으므로, “유다인을 진멸하라고 수산 궁에서 내린 조서 초본을 하닥에게 주어 에스더에게 보여 알게 하고 그녀에게 부탁하여 왕에게 나아가서 그 앞에서 자기 민족을 위하여 간절히 구하라(4:7-8)” 부탁하였고, “왕의 신하들과 왕의 각 지방 백성이 다 알거니와 남녀를 막론하고 부름을 받지 아니하고 안뜰에 들어가서 왕에게 나가면 오직 죽이는 법이요 왕이 그 자에게 금 규를 내밀어야 살 것이라 이제 내가 부름을 입어 왕에게 나가지 못한 지가 이미 삼십 일이라(4:11)” 하였지만, “너는 왕궁에 있으니 모든 유다인 중에 홀로 목숨을 건지리라 생각하지 말라. 이 때에 네가 만일 잠잠하여 말이 없으면 유다인은 다른 데로 말미암아 놓임과 구원을 얻으려니와 너와 네 아버지 집은 멸망하리라 네가 왕후의 자리를 얻은 것이 이 때를 위함이 아닌지 누가 알겠느냐(4:13-14)” 권유하므로, “당신은 가서 수산에 있는 유다인을 다 모으고 나를 위하여 금식하되 밤낮 삼일을 먹지도 말고 마시지도 마소서 나도 나의 시녀와 더불어 금식한 후에 규례를 어기고 왕에게 나아가리니 죽으면 죽으리이다(4:16)” 하였듯, 죽을 각오로 순종하기로 결단하고 금식하며 간구하여 하나님께 맡겼습니다.

That’s why, all the Jews were in danger of being destroyed, because of Mordecai did not bow to Haman, so he ask to Queen Esther for help, as “Mordecai told him everything that had happened to him, including the exact amount of money Haman had promised to pay into the royal treasury for the destruction of the Jews. He also gave him a copy of the text of the edict for their annihilation, which had been published in Susa, to show to Esther and explain it to her, and he told him to urge her to go into the king’s presence to beg for mercy and plead with him for her people (4:7-8)” and the Queen Esther replied, as “All the king’s officials and the people of the royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned the king has but one law: that he be put to death. The only exception to this is for the king to extend the gold scepter to him and spare his life. But thirty days have passed since I was called to go to the king (4:11)” But, Mordecai recommend to the Queen Esther, as “He sent back this answer: Do not think that because you are in the king’s house you alone of all the Jews will escape. For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this (4:13-14)” So, the Queen Esther decided to entrust her life to God and obey Him, even at the risk of death, and asked Mordecai and the Jews to join together in fasting and praying. After fasting and praying herself, she decided to go before the king, as “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night and day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish (4:16)”

그래서 “제삼일에 에스더가 왕후의 예복을 입고 왕궁 안 뜰 곧 어전 맞은편에 서니 왕이 어전에서 전 문을 대하여 왕좌에 앉았다가, 왕후 에스더가 뜰에 선 것을 본즉 매우 사랑스러우므로 손에 잡았던 금 규를 그에게 내미니 에스더가 가까이 가서 금 규 끝을 만진지라. 왕이 이르되 왕후 에스더여 그대의 소원이 무엇이며 요구가 무엇이냐 나라의 절반이라도 그대에게 주겠노라(5:1-3)” 하였듯, 하나님께서 역사하시므로, “에스더가 이르되 오늘 내가 왕을 위하여 잔치를 베풀었사오니 왕이 좋게 여기시거든 하만과 함께 오소서(5:4)” 하였고, 왕이 다시 소원이 무엇인지 말하라 허락하리라 하였지만, “내가 만일 왕의 목전에서 은혜를 입었고 왕이 내 소청을 허락하시며 내 요구를 시행하시기를 좋게 여기시면 내가 왕과 하만을 위하여 베푸는 잔치에 또 오소서 내일은 왕의 말씀대로 하리이다(5:8)” 하며 하나님의 때를 기다렸습니다.

So, the king, moved God’s providence, and said, ‘say whatever you want and I will do it, as “On the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in the inner court of the palace, in front of the king’s hall. The king was sitting on his royal throne in the hall, facing the entrance. When he saw Queen Esther standing in the court, he was pleased with her and held out to her the gold scepter that was in his hand. So, Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter. Then the king asked, ‘What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given you (5:1-3)” But, Queen Esther invite the king with Haman to her banquet only, as “If it pleases the king, replied Esther, ‘let the king, together with Haman, come today to a banquet I have prepared for him (5:4)” And the king say again, ‘say to me whatever you want, I will grant it, but queen Esther did not ask and invite again the king and Haman to her banquet only, as “If the king regards me with favor and if it pleases the king to grant my petition and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come tomorrow to the banquet I will prepare for them. Then I will answer the king’s question (5:8)” Because, she was waited the time of God.

그래서 “하만이 이르되 왕후 에스더가 그 베푼 잔치에 왕과 함께 오기를 허락을 받은 자는 나 밖에 없었고 내일도 왕과 함께 청함을 받았느니라. 그러나 유다 사람 모르드개가 대궐 문에 앉은 것을 보는 동안에는 이 모든 일이 만족하지 아니하도다 하니, 그의 아내 세레스와 모든 친구들이 이르되 높이가 오십 규빗 되는 나무를 세우고 내일 왕에게 모르드개를 그 나무에 매달기를 구하고 왕과 함께 즐거이 잔치에 가소서 하니 하만이 그 말을 좋게 여기고 명령하여 나무를 세우니라(5:12-14)” 하였듯, 하만의 악한 음모가 최고조에 이르게 하셨으며, “그 날 밤에 왕이 잠이 오지 아니하므로 명령하여 역대 일기를 가져다가 자기 앞에서 읽히더니, 그 속에 기록하기를 문을 지키던 왕의 두 내시 빅다나와 데레스가 아하수에로 왕을 암살하려는 음모를 모르드개가 고발하였다 하였는지라. 왕이 이르되 이 일에 대하여 무슨 존귀와 관작을 모르드개에게 베풀었느냐 하니 측근 신하들이 대답하되 아무것도 베풀지 아니하였나이다(6:1-3)” 하였듯, 모르드개의 공로에 보상이 없었음을 알게 하셨습니다.

So, God provided for Haman’s evil plot to reach its peak, as “That’s not all, ‘Haman added. ‘I’m the only person Queen Esther invited to accompany the king to the banquet she gave. And she has invited me along with the king tomorrow. But all this gives me no satisfaction as long as I see that Jew Mordecai sitting at the king’s gate. His wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, ‘Have a gallows built, seventy-five feet high, and ask the king in the morning to have Mordecai hanged on it. Then go with the king to the dinner and be happy. This suggestion delighted Haman, and he had the gallows built (5:12-14)” And God made it known to the king that Mordecai had reported the evil plot of those who had tried to kill him and that there had been no reward, as “That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him. It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s offices who guarded the doorway, who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. What honor and recognition has Mordecai received for this? The king asked. Nothing has been done for him, his attendants answered (6:1-3)”

그래서 모르드개의 공로에 보상할 마음을 왕에게 주셨고, “왕께서 입으시는 왕복과 왕께서 타시는 말과 머리에 쓰시는 왕관을 가져다가, 왕복과 말을 왕의 신하 중 가장 존귀한 자의 손에 맡겨서 왕이 존귀하게 하시기를 원하시는 사람에게 옷을 입히고 말을 태워서 성 중 거리로 다니며 그 앞에서 반포하여 이르기를 왕이 존귀하게 하기를 원하시는 사람에게는 이같이 할 것이라 하게 하소서(6:8-9)” 하는 하만의 의견에 따라 즉시 시행하라 명하였고, 에스더의 간청으로 하만의 악한 음모를 알게 된 왕이 모르드개를 매달아 죽이려던 나무에 하만을 매달아 죽였고, 하만이 유다인들을 죽이려던 날에 유다인들이 원수들을 죽이고 멸망시키게 하여 화를 복으로 바꾸신 것처럼, 하나님께서는 지극히 우연처럼 섭리하시므로, 영적으로 깨어 있지 아니하면 깨닫지 못합니다. 그런 하나님의 섭리를 거역하거나 벗어나지 않도록 항상 매사를 하나님의 뜻으로 받아들여 순종하는 믿음이 중요하다는 것입니다. 그처럼 올바른 믿음으로 그리스도의 대속과 구원을 얻는 여러분 되시기를 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

So, the king moved to reward to Mordecai, and he ordered that Hama’s advice, be carried out immediately, who believing that no one else would receive such a reward, as “Have them bring a royal robe the king has worn and a horse the king has ridden, one with a royal crest placed on its head. Then let the robe and horse be entrusted to one of the king’s most noble princes. Let them robe the man the king delights to honor, and lead him on the horse through the city streets, proclaiming before him, ‘This is what is done for the man the king delights to honor (6:8-9)” That’s why, Haman most glorified to Mordecai publicly, who he had intended to kill, instead, he brought the greatest humiliation upon Mordecai. Moreover, the king, who learned of Haman’s evil plot through Queen Esther’s entreaty, had Haman hanged on the gallows on which he had intended to hang Mordecai. Moreover, on the day Haman had planned to kill the Jews, God turned the calamity into a blessing by causing the Jews to kill and destroy their enemies. In this way, God makes everything happen as if by chance, so unless you are spiritual awake, you will not know it at all. The most important thing is to have faith that accepts everything as God’s will and carefully obeys it so as not to deviate from or rebel against God’s providence. Beloved brothers and sisters, you must be as right and worthy faith in Christ Jesus all. Amen.
