통치체 의결 정족수

제가 유투버를 편집하다가 든 의문인데, 통치체 의결 정족수가 과거에 2/3 였는데 연례 총회의 새로운 통치체 성원인 제프리 윈더의 연설에서 만장일치라는 이야기가 나와서 ex/reddit에 통치체 의결 정족수에 대해 물어 봤습니다. 다음과 같은 답변이 나왔습니다.

Privately, they require a 2/3 majority to make any doctrinal change. Publicly, any changes they make will always be presented as result of a unanimous decision.

It’s similar to how judicial committees operate. Whether they decide to disfellowship or simply reprove someone, it’s always presented as if it was a unanimous decision, despite the fact that one person on the committee could vehemently disagree and have voted for the opposite decision.

I remember being on a body of elders where the vote after the CO (Simony going on) leaned on us being 8 to 4 to appoint as an elder someone we didn't believe qualified.

He pushed and pushed until we were 9 to 3 in favour and said to be unanimous is unnecessary but better so I am going to ask those that are still against (I was one of them) if we would support the clear majority decision.

We said yes and so it was counted by him as a unanimous recommendation.

It clearly wasn't but I am sure when the GB does similar and spout their nonsense to the flock they present themselves as unanimous.

I don't know when it changed and it probably hasn't even changed. I bet they are using their weird logic on this.

When the voting is 2/3 or more then they have agreed that this is enough for whatever has been voted on to pass. Therefore, they would then be 100% in agreement. Now that was easy and the sort of sleezy, slimy reasoning the GB has.

When the voting is less than 2/3 then they agree this would constitute that they are not in agreement.

Hang on though.....surely if they were properly "spirit lead" there would be no need for voting. Each decision would be unanimous.

I think it was dependent on what the matter was about. I'm not sure.

Anyway, 2/3 is a must for branch committees and elders. I don't think it's a strict rule for the GB.

They make their own rules. Even if it was not a majority vote, those in power will only increase pressure to make it so next time around.

To come out as not unanimous would undermine their apparent authority, so it could be a yes even if it was 40% in their favour, as long as there weren't any objections.

A theory I had which may or may not be true, is why they want JDubs not to vote themselves (elections and generally). I think it's a way to gain more voting power themselves, since their vote would count more.

For the new GB members they'd likely follow the crowd in terms of voting direction. Otherwise they'd soon get the boot.

Probably fifteen or twenty years ago there was an obscure comment, I think in a study article, that indicated the governing body only enacted unanimous decisions in following the pattern in Acts. I noted it because I was aware that before then they were using parliamentary procedure. When exactly it changed and whether it’s for everything, it’s hard to know.

there is a big reason i guess why they kicked Tony.

if you need everyone, than goodnight, tony will be always voting against it.

so they implemented 2 new guys into the governing Body, to overthrow Tony and vote him himself out. i bet they needed to get rid of him to make certain changes he didnt accepted. it all sums up if you think about it. the timing of two new members only to kick tony out in the very next meeting is not by chance. it was all planned long before.

Unanimity is considered evidence of Holy Spirit so they want that. Isn’t required.
