이사야 61:1-7

• 주 여호와의 영이 내게 내리셨으니 이는 여호와께서 내게 기름을 부으사 가난한 자에게 아름다운 소식을 전하게 하려 하심이라 나를 보내사 마음이 상한 자를 고치며 포로된 자에게 자유를, 갇힌 자에게 놓임을 선포하며
• 여호와의 은혜의 해와 우리 하나님의 보복의 날을 선포하여 모든 슬픈 자를 위로하되
• 무릇 시온에서 슬퍼하는 자에게 화관을 주어 그 재를 대신하며 기쁨의 기름으로 그 슬픔을 대신하며 찬송의 옷으로 그 근심을 대신하시고 그들이 의의 나무 곧 여호와께서 심으신 그 영광을 나타낼 자라 일컬음을 받게 하려 하심이라
• 그들은 오래 황폐하였던 곳을 다시 쌓을 것이며 옛부터 무너진 곳을 다시 일으킬 것이며 황폐한 성읍 곧 대대로 무너져 있던 것들을 중수할 것이며
• 외인은 서서 너희 양 떼를 칠 것이요 이방 사람은 너희 농부와 포도원지기가 될 것이나
• 오직 너희는 여호와의 제사장이라 일컬음을 받을 것이라 사람들이 너희를 우리 하나님의 봉사자라 할 것이며 너희가 이방 나라들의 재물을 먹으며 그들의 영광을 얻어 자랑할 것이니라
• 너희가 수치 대신에 보상을 배나 얻으며 능욕 대신에 몫으로 말미암아 즐거워할 것이라 그리하여 그들의 땅에서 갑절이나 얻고 영원한 기쁨이 있으리라

1	The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners,
2	to proclaim the year of the LORD'S favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn,
3	and provide for those who grieve in Zion--to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor.
4	They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.
5	Aliens will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards.
6	And you will be called priests of the LORD, you will be named ministers of our God. You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.
7	Instead of their shame my people will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace they will rejoice in their inheritance; and so they will inherit a double portion in their land, and everlasting joy will be theirs.

The Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news. [ ISAIAH 61:1]

One evening in 1964, the Great Alaska earthquake shocked and writhed for more than four minutes, registering a 9.2 magnitude. In Anchorage, whole city blocks disappeared, leaving only massive craters and rubble. Through the dark, terrifying night, news reporter Genie Chance stood at her microphone, passing along messages to desperate people sitting by their radios: a husband working in the bush heard that his wife was alive; distraught families heard that their sons on a Boy Scout camping trip were okay; a couple heard that their children had been found. The radio crackled with line after line of good news—pure joy amid the ruin.

This must have been something like what Israel felt when they heard these words from the prophet Isaiah: “The Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor” (61:1). As they looked over the wasteland of their wrecked lives and grim future, Isaiah’s clear voice brought good news at the very moment when all seemed lost. God intended to “bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives. . . . [To] rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated” (VV. 1, 4). In the midst of their terror, the people heard God’s assuring promise, His good news.

For us today, it’s in Jesus that we hear God’s good news—this is what the word gospel means. Into our fears, pains, and failures, He delivers good news. And our distress gives way to joy. WINN COLLIER

God, I need some good news. I hear bad news all the time. I need to hear what You say about things. I need the joy You bring.

1964년 어느 날 저녁 알래스카에서 진도 9.2의 대지진이 일어나 4분 이상 땅이 흔들리고 뒤틀렸습니다. 앵커리지에는 도시 도처의 구역들이 사라지고 엄청난 규모의 구덩이들과 잔해들이 생겼습니다. 방송국 기자 지니 챈스는 공포로 휩싸인 어두운 밤 내내 마이크를 잡고 서서 필사적으로 라디오에 귀를 기울이고 있는 사람들에게 소식을 전해주었습니다. 오지에서 일하고 있는 남편에게 아내가 살아있다는 소식을, 근심 가득한 가족들에게 보이스카우트 캠핑을 떠난 아이들이 무사하다는 소식을, 그리고 어떤 부부에게는 실종된 자녀들을 찾았다는 소식을 전해주었습니다. 폐허 속에서 순전한 즐거움이 되어준 이 기쁜 소식은 치직거리는 라디오 전파를 타고 꼬리를 물고 전해졌습니다.

이사야 선지자가 “여호와께서 내게 기름을 부으사 가난한 자에게 아름다운 소식을 전하게 하려 하심이라”(61:1)라고 했을 때 이를 들었던 이스라엘 민족도 같은 느낌이었을 것입니다. 그들이 황폐한 땅을 보며 무너진 삶과 암울한 미래로 모든 것을 다 상실한 것 같았던 바로 그 순간에 이사야는 또렷한 목소리로 기쁜 소식을 전해주었습니다. 하나님은 “마음이 상한 자를 고치며 포로된 자에게 자유를… 오래 황폐하였던 곳을 다시 쌓을 것이며 옛부터 무너진 곳을 다시 일으킬”(1, 4절) 것을 계획하셨습니다. 사람들은 공포 한가운데에서 하나님의 확실한 약속, 곧 하나님이 주시는 기쁜 소식을 들었습니다.

오늘을 사는 우리는 바로 예수님 안에서 하나님의 기쁜 소식을 듣습니다. ‘복음’이라는 말의 의미가 바로 그것입니다. 우리가 공포나 고통, 실패 가운데 있을 때 하나님께서 우리에게 좋은 소식을 전해주시며, 그럴 때 우리의 괴로움은 기쁨으로 바뀌게 됩니다.

당신의 어떤 부분에서 기쁜 소식을 경험할 필요가 있습니까? 언제 하나님의 기쁜 소식으로 두려움과 걱정이 기쁨으로 바뀐 적이 있습니까?

하나님, 저에게 기쁜 소식이 필요합니다. 항상 나쁜 소식을 듣지만, 하나님께서 세상에 대해 말씀하시는 것을 듣고 싶습니다. 하나님이 주시는 기쁨이 저에게 필요합니다.
