On Friday, Kim Min Seok, the Senior Chief Member of the Democratic Party, declared, “The suspicion that martial law was imposed to cover up the Myung Tae Kyun case is increasingly solidifying into fact.”

During a Supreme Council meeting at the National Assembly, Kim noted that Myung’s “fearful” comments have surfaced, along with former Defense Minister Kim Yong Hyun’s testimony to prosecutors mentioning President Yoon Suk Yeol’s call for emergency measures regarding the “Myung Tae Kyun incident.”

Kim stressed the importance of thoroughly investigating whether martial law was declared to hide corruption involving Yoon and First Lady Kim Keon Hee and prevent her from going to prison. He added, “The Myung Tae Kyun investigation team at the Changwon District Prosecutor’s Office has been disbanded. We must introduce the Myung Tae Kyun Gate Special Prosecutor Act to uncover the motive behind the martial law declaration, connecting Myung Tae Kyun and First Lady Kim.

The previous day, Park Sung Jun, the Democratic Party’s Deputy Floor Leader, stated during a policy coordination meeting that they need a special prosecutor to ensure that election manipulation, public opinion manipulation, illegal interventions, and state affairs manipulation do not recur and to hold those responsible accountable before the law. “We will gather public support to advance the Myung Tae-kyun Special Prosecutor Act,” Park added.

The Democratic Party previously announced its intention to proceed with the Myung Tae Kyun Special Prosecutor Act and plans to introduce it as early as this month.

(서울=뉴스1) 심언기 임세원 기자 = 국회 법제사법위원회는 12일 윤석열 대통령 부부의 공천 개입 의혹을 겨냥한 '명태균 특검법'을 여당 반대 속에 상정했다.

정청래 법사위원장은 이날 오전 국회에서 열린 법사위 전체회의에서 "숙려기간 20일을 경과하지 않았으므로 우리 위원회의 의결로 상정하고자 한다"고 밝혔다.

정 위원장은 "명태균 특검 법률안은 제정법률안이기 때문에 20일의 숙려기간이 필요한 것이 국회법 규정이지만, 의결로서 예외로 할 수 있기 때문에 지금 국민의힘 위원들의 이의가 있으므로 국회법에 따라서 표결하도록 하겠다"고 말했다.

이에 유상범 의원을 대신해 국민의힘 간사 대행을 맡은 장동혁 의원은 "지방선거, 총선, 보궐선거 모든 사항을 다 집어넣어 결국은 국민의힘 의원들 전체를 수사 대상으로 포함하고 국민의힘 당사, 모든 압수수색이 다 가능하게 하고, 결국은 조기 대선을 염두에 두고 국민의힘을 어떤 기능도 하지 못하도록 마비시키겠다는 것과 다름없는 내용"이라고 반발했다.

그러나 정 위원장은 명태균 특검법 상정을 강행했고, 국민의힘 의원 전원이 퇴장한 가운데 상정안을 의결했다.

민주당을 포함한 야 6당은 전날 오후 국회 의안과에 명태균 특검법을 제출했다. 윤석열 대통령과 김건희 여사, 명 씨와 연루된 것으로 의심받는 정치인을 수사 대상에 담은 것이 핵심이다.

명태균 특검법은 대법원장이 특별검사 후보자 명단(2명)을 대통령에게 추천하면 대통령이 후보자 중 1명을 임명하는 방식이다. 대법원장은 판사·검사·변호사 등 15년 이상 재직한 사람을 특검 후보자로 추천해야 한다.
