빙의장애의 대안치료방법으로서 명상과 천도재에 관한 연구

초 록
본 연구의 목적은 명상을 통해 빙의장애를 진단하고 천도재를 통하여 빙의장애를 치료할 수 있는가를 논하는 것이다.
영혼의 존재를 인정하지 않고 해리장애의 아류로 설명하는 의학계의 진단과 달리, 빙의장애에 대한 종교계의 관점은 영적인 존재에 의해 발생하는 부정적인 효과를 포괄한다. ICD-10이나 DSM-Ⅳ와 같은 공식적인 진단기준에도 불구하고 실제로 정신과에서 빙의장애로 판단되는 경우는 드물다.
브라운 모델에 따르면, 종교적 명상 수행 체계는 특정 종교의 신념 체계에서 기인한 것이지만, 대부분의 명상 실천이 체험의 발달이나 깊이를 주장하고 있기 때문에, 깨달음의 과정에 있어 공통된 부분- 통상적 지각의 근저를 이루는 시·공간의 기반을 넘어 의식의 근본적 변화 등- 이 많이 나타난다. 또한 요가심리학의 차크라 모델은 수행의 일정단계에 이르면 윤회에 있어 전생을 관조할 수 있게 되고, 차크라를 통해 영적 존재를 지각할 수 있으며 상담자 자질 측면에서 관조와 치유의 힘이 강화됨을 시사한다. 따라서 명상은 빙의장애의 원인을 규명하는데 유용한 수단이 될 수 있다.
천도재는 불교에서 장례를 치른 이후 망혼을 위해 행하는 모든 의례를 칭한다. 천도란 망혼을 극락과 같은 좋은 곳으로 보내 줄 것을 불·보살에게 천거하는 법도이며, 용성 조사는 불·보살의 가피력과 법사스님의 법력, 법식과 법보시의 음덕에 의해 영가천도가 가능하다고 하였다. 불교의 많은 경전과 선지식들의 여러 저서에서도 이를 확인할 수 있었다.
명상을 통한 진단과 천도재를 통한 치료사례 1례를 소개하면서 구체적인 빙의장애의 원인과 치료과정을 제시하였으며 환자와 가족의 정성과 의지 역시 무시되어서는 안 될 요소임을 논하였다.
다른 중증 환자와 마찬가지로 정확한 원인에 대한 진단과 조기 치료가 중요한 질병인 빙의장애의 진단과 치료에 있어 명상과 천도재가 빙의장애에 대한 이해를 깊게 하고, 향후 빙의장애의 치료대안으로 부각될 것이라 기대한다.
