<P><STRONG></STRONG>The Royal Navy's primary torpedo bomber of the Second World War, the Swordfish, despite its obsolescence, proved to be an effective anti-submarine and torpedo bomber right up until the end of hostilities in 1945. In fact, the Swordfish went on to outlive its intended replacement, the Albacore, in Royal Navy Service.</P>
<P>Involved in such famous actions as the Taranto raid, the Bismarck operation and the Channel Dash, the vulnerable but effective Swordfish firmly cemented its place in aviation folklore. <BR></P>
<P>Initially, the Swordfish operated from the large fleet carriers. Later it operated from escort carriers, and were very effective against U-boats. The nickname 'Stringbag' indicated the versatility of the Swordfish, which could carry an unlikely combination of loads, but also referred to its jungle of bracing wires, which belonged to a past age. </P>
<P>The Swordfish remained operational until the end of the war, gaining the distinction of being the last biplane to see active service. </P>
<P>The Airfix kit contains a folding wing option. </P>

첫댓글 작례가 멋진게 하나 들이고 싶네요
1/72로는 결정판일듯 하네요
넵.. 날개접기도 되고.. 디테일이 좀 투박스럽긴해도 레벨제 역시 투박스럽긴 매한가지라... 가격도 15000원 (온라인가로는 더 저렴할듯..) 이고 소드피쉬에서는 결정판 타이틀 먹기에 충분하죠..
작년에 처음 수입되었을 때 구매했는데, 48 타미야에 근접하는 디테일을 자랑하는 키트입니다. 무엇보다 가격이 저렴해서 동네문구점에서 아카데미 지르는 정도의 부담으로 살 수 있다는 것이 큰 장점이지요.
타미야/하세가와 등 일본제는 데칼 황변을 의식하여 수년내에 만들어야 하지만, 레벨/이타레리/에어픽스(신판) 등 유럽제 키트는 그런 부담없이 20년정도는 데칼이 버텨준다는 것이 큰 메리트죠.
