DO YOU LOVE ME?

네가 나를 사랑하느냐?

John 21:1-15

요한복음 21:1-15

“When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you truly love me more than these?’”

“그들이 조반 먹은 후에 예수께서 시몬 베드로에게 이르시되 요한의 아들 시몬아 네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐 하시니”

             The conference title is, “God so Loved the World....”

             이번 수양회 제목은 “하나님이 세상을 이처럼 사랑하사…” 입니다.

With this title, we have heard many messages about how much God loves us.

이 제목으로 우리는 하나님이 우리를 얼마만큼 사랑하시는가에 대해 많은 메시지를 들었습니다.

Do we still need a love message?

우리에게 아직도 사랑 메시지가 더 필요합니까?

Is it not enough?

이것으로 충분하지 않을까요?

We still need to hear God’s love story, because God’s love story is never boring or dry.

그러나 하나님의 사랑 이야기는 더 들어도 좋습니다. 왜냐하면 하나님의 사랑 이야기는 전혀 지루하거나 무미건조하지 않기 때문입니다. .

Human love only makes us thirsty for more, like Coca-Cola.

인간적인 사랑은 코카콜라와 같아서 우리를 더 목마르게 할 뿐입니다.

We have to drink again and again.

그래서 마시고 또 마셔야 합니다.

But God’s love is like a spring of living water welling up to eternal life.

그러나 하나님의 사랑은 영생하도록 솟아나는 생수와 같습니다.

Today’s passage is Jesus’ love story.

오늘 본문은 예수님의 사랑이야기 입니다.

Do you want to hear this love story again?

이 사랑이야기를 다시 듣고 싶지 않으십니까?

Yes! Again and again we need to hear this love story.

예, 듣고 또 듣고 싶습니다! 우리에게는 이 사랑이야기가 필요합니다.   

Then, let’s go to the beach of the Sea of Galilee and listen to his loving words, “Do you love me? Feed my sheep!”

이제 갈릴리 바다 해변가로 가서 “네가 나를 사랑하느냐? 내 양을 먹이라!” 하시는 예수님의 사랑의 음성을 들어 봅시다.

I. “Come and have breakfast” (1-14)

I. “와서 조반을 먹으라” (1-14)

             Look at verse 1. “Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberius. ”

             1절을 보십시오. “그 후에 예수께서 디베랴 호수에서 또 제자들에게 자신을 나타내셨으니 나타내신 일은 이러하니라”

The word “afterward” refers to the two previous appearances of risen Jesus to his disciples.

“그 후에”라는 말은 부활하신 예수님께서 제자들에게 이미 두 번 나타나신 것을 뜻합니다.

Jesus died for our sins, and he rose from the dead!

예수님은 우리 죄를 위해 죽으시고, 죽은 자 가운데서 다시 살아나셨습니다!

Jesus has risen!

예수님은 부활하셨습니다!

Though the Risen Jesus appeared to them two times, they still did not really know the meaning of his resurrection.

부활하신 예수님께서 그들에게 두 번이나 나타나셨지만, 제자들은 여전히 예수님의 부활의 의미를 잘 모르고 있었습니다.

They were wandering without knowing what to do.

제자들은 무엇을 해야 할지 몰라 방황하고 있었습니다.

Then Jesus appeared to his disciples by the Sea of Tiberias.

그래서 예수님은 디베랴 바닷가에 있는 제자들에게 나타나셨습니다.

          Look at verses 2-7.

             2절부터 7절까지를 보십시오.

Simon Peter, Thomas, Nathanael, James and John, and two other disciples were together.

시몬 베드로, 도마, 나다나엘, 야고보, 요한 그리고 다른 제자 두 명이 함께 있었습니다.

When they got together they had no clear mission.

함께 모이기는 했지만 그들에게는 분명한 사명이 없었습니다.

No one was thinking about serving the others.

아무도 다른 사람을 섬기는 것에 대해 생각하지 못했습니다.

In the past, when Jesus was with them, women served them very sacrificially.

과거에 예수님께서 그들과 함께 계실 때는, 여인들이 매우 희생적으로 그들을 섬겨 주었습니다.

But now no one served them, so they were very hungry.

그러나 지금은 아무도 그들을 섬겨주지 않아서, 몹시 배가 고팠습니다.

When their stomachs began to growl, Peter said, “I’m going out to fish.”

뱃속에서 꼬르륵 소리가 나기 시작하자, 베드로가 “나는 고기나 잡으러 갈란다” 하고 말했습니다.

They all said, “We’ll go with you. There is no other way. We are in the same boat with you.”

그러자 모두들 말했습니다. “우리도 같이 가세. 달리 뾰족한 수가 없잖아. 우리 모두 한 배에 탄 목숨이제.”  

So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

그래서 모두 밖으로 나가 배에 올랐지만, 그날 밤 아무 것도 잡지 못했습니다.  

Then, even the fish sneered at them as if to say, “Hey you guys, you can’t catch us.”

심지어 물고기들조차 “야  너희들 뭐하는 것야? 너희들은 우리를 잡을 수 없어” 하며 비웃는 것 같았습니다.

They fell into deep despair.

그들은 깊은 절망감에 빠졌습니다.

They were still hungry and cold.

게다가 춥고 배고팠습니다.  

They felt a deep sense of failure as disciples of Jesus and also as fishermen.

그들은 예수님의 제자로서뿐 아니라 어부로서도 깊은 실패 감을 맛보아야 했습니다.

Gradually the thick darkness of night began to give way to the dawn of the rising sun.

동이 트기 시작하면서 밤의 짙은 어두움이 조금씩 걷히고 있었습니다.

At this moment, early in the morning, the Risen Jesus stood on the shore to take care of them.

그때 이른 아침, 부활하신 예수님께서 제자들을 돌보시기 위해 해변에 서 계셨습니다.

But they did not realize that it was Jesus.

그러나 제자들은 그분이 예수님이심을 알아보지 못했습니다.

Jesus knew their situation and he called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?”

예수님께서 그들의 사정을 아시고 그들을 부르셨습니다. “얘들아, 너희에게 고기가 있느냐?"

“No,” they answered, in a despairing voice, hanging their heads.

제자들은 고개를 흔들며, 절망적인 목소리로 대답했습니다. “없나이다.”  

Then he said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.”

그러자 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “그물을 배 오른편에 던지라 그리하면 잡으리라.”

They did not recognize Jesus, but his voice was familiar.

제자들은 예수님을 알아보진 못했지만, 그 목소리에는 익숙했습니다.  

Trusting him, they did it almost automatically.

제자들은 신뢰하는 마음으로 거의 자동적으로 그물을 던졌습니다.

When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

그물을 던지자, 고기가 너무 많이 잡혀 그물을 끌어 올릴 수가 없었습니다.

Wow! They remembered that this had happened once before in the same place, the Sea of Galilee (Lk 5:4-7).

와우! 제자들은 전에도 같은 장소인 갈릴리 바다에서 똑 같은 일이 있었던 것을 기억했습니다. (눅5:4-7)

The disciple whom Jesus loved, John, realized that it was the Risen Jesus.

예수님의 사랑하는 제자 요한이 그 분은 부활하신 예수님이심을 깨달았습니다.

So he said to Peter, “It is the Lord.”

그래서 베드로에게, “주님이시라” 고 말했습니다.

Usually people take off their garments when they jump into the water.

보통 사람들은 물에 뛰어들어갈 때 겉옷을 벗어버립니다.

However, as soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his garment around him and jumped into the water.

그런데 시몬 베드로는 “주님이시라”는 말을 듣자마자 도리어 겉옷을 몸에 두르고 물 속으로 뛰어 들었습니다.

In this way he showed his tremendous love and respect for Jesus.

베드로는 이런 식으로 예수님께 대한 엄청난 사랑과 존경심을 나타냈습니다.  

             Look at verse 9. “When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread.”

             9절을 보십시오. “육지에 올라 보니 숯불이 있는데 그 위에 생선이 놓였고 떡도 있더라”

On the dark beach, a fire of burning coals was welcoming them.

어둑한 해변에서 그들을 맞이한 것은 숯불이었습니다.

It was so warm.

참 따뜻했습니다.

It took away all the cold of that night, especially from Peter’s wet body.

이 숯불은 지난 밤의 추위를 모두 잊게 해 주었고, 특히 베드로의 젖은 몸의 냉기를 가시게 해 주었습니다.

The disciples could smell a delicious aroma.

제자들은 맛있는 냄새를 맡았습니다.

It was the aroma of fish.

그것은 물고기 굽는 냄새였습니다.

It was the aroma of love.

그것은 사랑의 향기였습니다.

A fire of Jesus’ burning love was there.

예수님의 타오르는 사랑의 불이 거기 있었습니다.

Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”

예수께서 “지금 잡은 생선을 좀 가져오라” 고 하셨습니다.

So they dragged the net ashore and counted the fish.

제자들은 그물을 육지로 끌어올려 물고기를 세었습니다.

There were 153 large fish.

큰 물고기가 153마리였습니다.

Wow! But even with so many the net was not broken.

와우! 고기가 그렇게 많이 잡혔는 데도 그물이 찢어지지 않았습니다.

Through this catch of fish they again experienced Jesus’ almighty power.

이렇게 고기를 잡음으로써 제자들은 다시 한번 예수님의 전능하신 능력을 체험했습니다.

Then Jesus invited them, “Come and have breakfast.”

그리고 나서 예수님은 “와서 조반을 먹으라” 고 하시며 제자들을 초청하셨습니다.

Let’s read verse 12a together. “Jesus said to them, ‘Come and have breakfast.’”

다 함께 12절 상반 절을 읽겠습니다. “예수께서 이르시되 와서 조반을 먹으라 하시니”

The Risen Jesus, though he was ennobled and glorified through his resurrection, cooked breakfast for his disciples, like a loving mother.

부활하신 예수님은 부활을 통해 존귀해지시고, 영광스러워 지셨음에도 불구하시고 마치 사랑이 풍성한 어머니와 같이 제자들을 위해 손수 아침을 지으셨습니다.

When Jesus was arrested, his disciples all ran away.

예수님께서 체포되셨을 때, 제자들은 모두 도망갔습니다.

Peter denied Jesus three times.

베드로는 예수님을 세 번이나 부인했습니다.

But Jesus did not punish him, or say one negative word to him.

그러나 예수님은 그를 벌하지도 않으셨고, 서운한 말 한마디도 하지 않으셨습니다.

Instead, Jesus understood his weaknesses and embraced him as he was, and prepared a beautiful beach party for Peter and the other disciples.

대신에 예수님은 그의 연약함을 이해하시고, 베드로를 있는 모습 그대로 품어 주셨습니다. 그리고 베드로와 다른 제자들을 위해 아름다운 비치 파티를 준비하셨습니다.

Jesus loved them unconditionally.

예수님은 제자들을 조건 없이 사랑하셨습니다.

His love never fails. He always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres (1Cor 13:7-8).

예수님의 사랑에는 실패가 없습니다. 예수님은 모든 것을 참으며 모든 것을 믿으며 모든 것을 바라며 모든 것을 견디십니다. (고전13:7-8)

They were so deeply moved by Jesus’ love that they could not ask him, “Who are you?”

제자들은 예수님의 사랑에 깊이 감동되어, “당신은 누구냐?” 물을 수 없었습니다.

They knew it was the Lord (12).

제자들은 그 분이 주님이시라는 것을 알았습니다. (12)

Jesus came, took the bread and put it in their mouths one by one.

예수님께서 다가오셔서 떡을 떼어 한 사람씩 입에다 넣어 주셨습니다.

He did the same with the fish (13).

물고기도 그렇게 하셨습니다. (13)

In this way Jesus restored his love relationship with them.

이렇게 해서 예수님은 제자들과의 사랑의 관계성을 회복하셨습니다.

This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead (14).

이것은 예수께서 죽은 자 가운데서 살아나신 후에 세 번째로 제자들에게 나타나신 것이었습니다. (14)

II. Feed my sheep (15-17)

II. 내 양을 먹이라 (15-17)

             Look at verse 15.

15절을 보십시오.

When they had breakfast with the Risen Jesus, it was like a dream.

제자들은 부활하신 예수님과 아침을 먹으니 꿈만 같았습니다.

They were fully satisfied.

배가 불러 기분이 좋았습니다.

Like a Mexican saying goes: The heart is happy when the stomach is full.

“배가 부르면 마음이 즐겁다”는 멕시코 속담과 같았습니다.

They wanted to enjoy this kind of beach party forever.

제자들은 언제까지나 이런 비치 파티를 즐기고 싶었습니다.

Unexpectedly, Jesus came to Peter and said, “Simon son of John do you truly love me more than these?”

그런데 갑자기 예수님께서 베드로에게 다가오시더니 “요한의 아들 시몬아 네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐?” 물으셨습니다.

“More than these” means more than anything in the world or more than anyone else loves Jesus.

“이 사람들보다 더” 라는 말은 이 세상의 어떤 것보다도 예수님을 더 사랑하느냐 또는 누가 예수님을 사랑하는 것보다 예수님을 더 사랑하느냐는 물음입니다.  

Jesus wanted Peter to love him more than anything else in the world.

예수님은 베드로가 이 세상 어떤 것보다 예수님을 더 사랑하길 원하셨습니다.

Also, Jesus wanted Peter to love Jesus most, more than anyone else loved Jesus.

또 이 세상 누가 예수님을 사랑하는 것보다도 예수님을 가장 사랑하기를 원하셨습니다.  

In a word, Jesus wanted to have a deep personal love relationship.

한 마디로 예수님은 깊은 인격적인 사랑의 관계성을 맺길 원하셨습니다.

Jesus already showed his unconditional love to Peter.

예수님은 이미 베드로에게 자신의 조건 없는 사랑을 보여 주셨습니다.

But Jesus did not want to love him one-sidedly.

하지만 예수님은 그를 짝사랑하기를  원치 않으셨습니다.

Jesus wanted Peter to respond to his love.

베드로가 예수님의 사랑에 응답하기를 바라셨습니다.

When he responds to his love, then the love relationship is established.

베드로가 예수님의 사랑에 응답하면 사랑의 관계성이 형성됩니다.

Jesus still asks each one of us, “Do you truly love me more than these?”

예수님은 지금도 우리 각자에게 물으십니다. “네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐?”

Jesus wants us to have a deep, personal love relationship with him.

예수님은 우리가 예수님과 깊은 인격적인 사랑의 관계성을 맺길 원하십니다.

             Look at verse 15b. “Yes, Lord,” he said, “you know that I love you.”

             15절 하 반절을 보십시오. “주님 그러하나이다 내가 주를 사랑하는 줄 주님께서 아시나이다"

When Jesus asked him, “Do you truly love me,”

예수님께서 베드로에게 “네가 나를 사랑하느냐” 물으셨습니다.

Here, “love” is “agape” which is God’s unconditional love.

여기서 “사랑”은 하나님의 무조건적인 사랑을 뜻하는 “아가페”입니다.  

But when Peter said, “love,” it is from the word “phileo” which is the highest form of human love.

하지만 베드로의 대답에 나오는 “사랑”은 “필레오” 로서 고귀한 인간적인 사랑을 말합니다.

Peter didn’t answer directly, “I love you,” with agape love because he knew that his love is limited and he was weak.

베드로는 아가페의 사랑으로 “주님을 사랑합니다”라고 직접적으로 대답하지 못했습니다. 왜냐하면 스스로가 자신의 사랑에 한계가 있고, 자신이 연약하다는 것을 알았기 때문입니다.

So he indirectly said, “you know that I love you.”

그래서 그는 간접적으로 “내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄 주님께서 아시나이다” 라고 말할 수 밖에 없었습니다.

It means, “Even though I made many mistakes, still I love you. Although I denied you three times, still I love you. Not with agape love, but just with phileo love.”

이것은 “비록 제가 실수를 많이 했지만, 아직도 주님을 사랑합니다. 비록 제가 주님을 세 번 부인했지만, 여전히 주님을 사랑합니다. 아가페의 사랑으로는 못하지만, 필레오의 사랑으로라도 주님을 사랑합니다.” 라는 의미입니다.

Once Peter had declared, “Even if all fall away, I will not” (Mk 14:29).

베드로는 “다 버릴지라도 나는 그리하지 않겠나이다”고 큰 소리친 적이 있었습니다. (막14:29)

However, through many failures he realized that he had no power to love Jesus.

그러나 많은 실패를 통해 스스로는 예수님을 사랑할 힘이 없다는 것을 깨달았습니다.

He could not answer based on his own passion.

베드로는 자신이 가지고 있는 열정에 기초해서는 대답할 수 없었습니다.

But he accepted Jesus’ love and answered based on Jesus’ love for him.

그러나 예수님의 사랑을 영접하자 자신을 향한 예수님의 사랑에 기초해 대답할 수 있었습니다.

Then what did Jesus say?

그러자 예수님께서 무엇이라 하셨습니까?

Verse 15c says, “Feed my lambs.”

15절 마지막 부분을 보십시오. “내 양을 먹이라.”

Jesus wanted Peter to feed young believers with the word of God as an expression‎ of his love for Jesus.

예수님은 예수님에 대한 사랑의 표현으로 베드로가 하나님의 말씀으로 어린 양들을 먹이길 원하셨습니다.

             Look at verse 16. Again Jesus said, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”

             16절을 보십시오. 예수님께서 다시 말씀하십니다. “요한의 아들 시몬아 네가 나를 사랑하느냐?”

Here Jesus did not use comparative words.

여기서 예수님은 비교하는 단어를 사용하지 않으셨습니다.

But he still uses agape love.

하지만 여전히 아가페 사랑을 사용하셨습니다.

Why did Jesus ask Peter like this?

예수님은 왜 베드로에게 이같이 물으셨을까요?

Jesus really wanted to establish a personal love relationship with Peter.

예수님은 베드로와 인격적인 사랑의 관계성을 맺기를 간절히 원하셨습니다.

How did Peter answer?

베드로의 대답이 어떠합니까?

“Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”

“주님 그러하나이다. 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄 주님께서 아시나이다”

Peter could not but repeat the same answer that he had given the first time.

베드로는 자신이 처음에 했던 말을 되풀이할 수밖에 없었습니다.

Then Jesus said, “Take care of my sheep.”

그러자 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “내 양을 치라.”

Jesus wanted Peter to nurture his disciples until they became mature servants of God.

예수님은 베드로가 자신의 제자들을 하나님의 성숙한 종들이 될 때까지 양육하길 원하셨습니다.

             Jesus did not stop.

             예수님은 거기서 멈추지 않으셨습니다.

Jesus asked him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”

예수님께서 세 번째 물으셨습니다. “요한의 아들 시몬아, 네가 나를 사랑하느냐”

This time Jesus used phileo love instead of agape.

이번에는 아가페 대신 필레오 사랑을 사용하셨습니다.

Why did Jesus use phileo love instead of agape?

왜 예수님께서 아가페 대신 필레오 사랑을 사용하셨을까요?

It was because Jesus realized that Peter became humble enough to know his own weaknesses.

이는 베드로가 자신의 연약함을 알만큼 충분히 겸손해졌다는 것을 예수님께서 아셨기 때문이었습니다.

Jesus understood him and humbled himself to Peter’s level.

예수님은 베드로를 이해하셔서 베드로의 수준까지 자신을 겸손히 낮추셨습니다.

Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him three times.

예수님이 그에게 세 번이나 물은 것이 베드로에게 상처가 되었습니다.

Peter felt that Jesus did not trust him.

베드로는 예수님이 자신을 믿어 주지 않는다고 생각했습니다.

In fact, Peter’s heart was wounded by his own failure.

사실, 베드로의 마음에는 실패로 인해 상처가 있었습니다.  

Jesus wanted to heal Peter’s wounded heart.

예수님은  베드로의 상처 입은 마음을 치유하길 원하셨습니다.

Peter said, “Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you.”

베드로는 “주님 모든 것을 아시오매 내가 주님을 사랑하는 줄을 주님께서 아시나이다” 대답하였습니다.

Here, Peter confirmed that he loved Jesus most.

이로써 베드로는 자신이 예수님을 가장 사랑한다는 것을 확증했습니다.

Then Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”

그러자 예수님은 “내 양을 먹이라” 고 말씀하셨습니다.

Jesus wanted Peter to become a shepherd, following him.

예수님은 베드로가 자신을 따라 목자가 되기를 원하셨습니다.

             Why did Jesus ask Peter three times, “Do you love me?”

             예수님께서 왜 베드로에게 세 번씩이나 “네가 나를 사랑하느냐?” 하고 물으셨을까요?

Was it take revenge on Peter because he had denied Jesus three times?

자신을 세 번이나 부인하였기 때문에 베드로에게 복수하신 것일까요?

No. Love keeps no record of wrongs.

아닙니다. 사랑은 잘못한 것을 기억하지 않는 것입니다.

Jesus never kept a record of wrongs.

예수님은 한 번도 잘못한 것을 기억하신 적이 없었습니다.

Jesus forgave all our sins and erased all our bad past record when he said, “Father, forgive them,” on the cross.

예수님은 십자가 위에서 “아버지여 저들을 사하여 주옵소서”라고 기도하심으로 우리의 모든 죄를 용서하셨고, 과거 우리의 좋지 않은 모든 기록들을 지워주셨습니다.

Then why did he ask him three times, “Do you love me?”

그러면 예수님께서 왜 베드로에게 세 번이나 “네가 나를 사랑하느냐”고 물으셨을까요?

It was because Jesus wanted to restore the love relationship with him.

그것은 예수님께서 베드로와의 사랑의 관계성을 회복하시길 원하였기 때문입니다.

Even though Jesus loved Peter unconditionally, Peter had no conviction of Jesus’ love because of his failure.

예수님께서 베드로를 조건 없이 사랑하셨지만 베드로는 자신의 실패로 인해 예수님의 사랑에 대한 확신이 없었습니다.

So Jesus wanted to erase this sense of failure from his heart and restore the love relationship with him.

그래서 예수님은 베드로 안에 있는 실패의식을 지워 주시고, 그와의 사랑의 관계성을 회복하길 원하셨던 것입니다.

             Whenever Peter answered, “You know that I love you,” Jesus said, “Feed my sheep.”

             베드로가 “내가 주를 사랑하는 줄 주께서 아시나이다”라고 대답할 때마다, 예수님은 “내 양을 먹이라” 말씀하셨습니다.

Jesus entrusted his beloved sheep, whom he purchased with his blood on the cross to Peter.

예수님은 십자가에서 자신의 피를 값주고 사신 사랑하는 양들을 베드로에게 맡기셨습니다.

Jesus wanted Peter to take care of God’s flock, not as a duty, but out of love for Jesus.

예수님은 베드로가 하나님의 양 무리를 돌보되 의무감이 아니라 예수님께 대한 사랑으로 돌보기를 원하셨습니다.

Jesus wanted Peter to take care of God’s flock, not for his own benefit or satisfaction, but for the benefit of the sheep.

베드로가 자기 유익이나 만족이 아니라, 양들의 유익을 위해 햐나님의 양무리를 돌보길 원하셨습니다.

             When we take care of God’s flock out of duty, we feel burdened.

             우리가 하나님의 양 무리를 의무감에서 돌보면 부담이 됩니다.

But when we take care of them out of love for Jesus then we will be happy.

그러나 예수님께 대한 사랑에서 우러나와 돌보면 행복할 것입니다.

Taking care of God’s sheep is not just solving their human problems so they can live happily in this world.

하나님의 양을 섬긴다는 것은 단지 그들의 인간적인 문제를 해결해 주어 이 세상에서 행복하게 살게 해 주는 것이 아닙니다.

It is to feed them with the word of God which gives life to their souls and saves them from the power of sin and death.

그것은 그들을 하나님의 말씀으로 먹임으로써 영혼에 생명을 주고, 그들을 죄와 사망의 권세에서 구원해주는 것입니다.

Here we learn that feeding God’s flock is really a glorious mission.

여기서 우리는 하나님의 양 무리를 먹인다는 것은 정말 영광스러운 사명임을 배우게 됩니다.

This is what Jesus did during his earthly ministry.

이는 예수님께서 이 땅에 계신 동안 하신 일입니다.

When we observe Jesus’ words, we can see a principle of Christian life.

우리가 예수님의 말씀을 주의 깊게 보면, 신자의 삶에 있어서 하나의 원칙을 발견할 수 있습니다.

It is the cross.

그것은 바로 십자가입니다.

There should be a vertical relationship between Jesus and me.

예수님과 나와는 수직적인 관계가 맺어져야 합니다.  

And there is a horizontal relationship between me and others.

그리고 나와 다른 사람들과는 수평적인 관계입니다.  

Without the vertical relationship the horizontal relationship cannot stand.

수직적인 관계가 없이는 수평적인 관계가 이루어질 수 없습니다.  

If we love Jesus then we have to feed God’s flock as an expression‎ of love for Jesus.

우리가 예수님을 사랑한다면 그 사랑의 표현으로 하나님의 양 무리를 먹어야 합니다.

Then God is pleased with us and we can be happy.

그러면 하나님도 기뻐하시고 우리도 행복할 수 있습니다.

             I grew up in a dysfunctional family.

             저는 비정상적인 가정에서 자랐습니다.

My father was an alcoholic and an adulterer, which is not uncommon in Mexico.

아버지는 알코올 중독자였고, 간음죄를 범하였는데 이는 멕시코에서는 흔한 일이었습니다.  

My mother was always sick.

어머니는 항상 아프셨습니다.

I followed the pattern of my father.

저는 아버지와 똑 같은 삶을 살았습니다.

When I was 19 years old I obtained a very good job, thinking that I could overcome my sin.

제가 19살이었을 때 매우 좋은 직장을 얻었고, 이로 인해 죄를 극복할 수 있으리라고 생각했습니다.

But nothing changed.

그러나 변한 것은 없었습니다.

My heart was empty and dark. 

제 마음은 공허하고 어두웠습니다.

But God had mercy upon me.

그러나 하나님께서 저에게 자비를 베풀어 주셨습니다.

At the age of 21, God led me to Bible study in the church.

21살 때, 하나님은 저를 교회의 성경 공부로 인도해 주셨습니다.

After three years, God allowed me to marry with Shepherdess Rose Maria.

3년 후, 하나님은 Rose Maria 목자와 가정을 이루게 해 주셨습니다.

She is beautiful, with a pure heart and a hardworking spirit.

그녀는 아름답고, 순수한 마음과 일을 열심히 일하는 스피릿이 있습니다.

After receiving this blessing, I became complacent.

이런 축복을 받자 저는 자족하게 되었습니다.

So I drifted away from Jesus.

그러자 예수님으로부터 마음이 멀어져 갔습니다.

I even denied Jesus.

심지어는 예수님을 부인하기까지 했습니다.

Then, what happened? 

그러자  무슨 일이 일어났습니까?

I did not love Jesus anymore.

저는 더 이상 예수님을 사랑하지 않게 되었습니다.

Instead I began to enjoy worldly things, such as money and pleasure.

대신 돈과 쾌락 같은 세상적인 것을 즐기기 시작했습니다.

My wife wanted to divorce me. 

아내는 저와 이혼하기를 원했습니다.

My children were afraid of me. 

아이들은 저를 무서워했습니다.

In the midst of the worst situation, when I was 26 years old, Jesus once more revealed his unchanging and unconditional love by calling me to UBF.

26살 제가 최악의 상황에 처했을 때 예수님은 저를 UBF로 부르심으로 다시 한 번 당신의 변함 없고 조건 없는 사랑을 보여 주셨습니다.

The love of Jesus gave me back my family. 

예수님의 사랑이 제 가족을 다시 찾게 해 주었습니다.

My wife S. Rosa loves God.

제 아내 Rosa 목자는 하나님을 사랑합니다.

She is very diligent serving Jesus’ sheep.

예수님의 양을 섬기는데 매우 부지런합니다.

My children love God’s Word. 

제 아이들은 하나님의 말씀을 사랑합니다.

They are obedient and good students.

그들은 순종적이고 좋은 학생들입니다.

Jesus also saved my parents, sisters, nieces and nephews.

예수님은 또한 제 부모님과 자매들, 조카들을 구원해 주셨습니다.

Like the disciples, I tasted Jesus’ love for me. 

제자들과 같이 저 또한 저를 향한 예수님의 사랑을 맛보았습니다.

Jesus helped me to overcome my failure.

예수님은 제가 실패를 극복하도록 도와 주셨습니다.

I graduated as a psychologist with excellent grades.

저는 우수한 성적으로 심리학과를 졸업했습니다.  

Furthermore, God raised me as a messenger for our Sunday worship service.

게다가 하나님은 저를 주일 예배 메신저로 키워 주셨습니다.

In addition, Jesus gave me the great vision to feed Mexico and Latin America with the gospel of Jesus. 

거기에다 예수님은 예수님의 복음으로 멕시코와 라틴 아메리카를 먹이는 위대한 비전을 주셨습니다.

Praise Jesus!

예수님을 찬양합니다!

             Let’s read verse 15 together. “When they finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, ‘Simon, son of John, do you truly love me more than these?’ ‘Yes, Lord,’ he said, ‘you know that I love you.’ Jesus said, ‘Feed my lambs.’”

             15절을 다 함께 읽겠습니다. “그들이 조반 먹은 후에 예수께서 시몬 베드로에게 이르시되 요한의 아들 시몬아 네가 이 사람들보다 나를 더 사랑하느냐 하시니 이르되 주님 그러하나이다 내가 주를 사랑하는 줄 주님께서 아시나이다 이르시되 내 어린 양을 먹이라 하시고“

Let’s pray that we may have a personal love relationship with Jesus and take care of God’s flock out of love for Jesus.

우리가 예수님과 인격적인 사랑의 관계성을 맺고, 예수님에 대한 사랑으로 하나님의 양 무리를 돌보기를 기도합니다.
