These days, many people hurt others through words and actions, unconsciously or intentionally. That’s because people don’t have a sense of consideration for the other person and forget their preciousness. Maybe they don’t know what they say and do can hurt others. For example, adolescents often complain or get angry at their parents for trivial things. Offending others happens not only at home, but also at school. They hurt their friends with all kinds of verbal abuse and teasing, and in severe cases, they even ostracize their weak friends. It is not just a problem for the students. In society, putting malicious comments about someone on the Internet can make him die. From the above examples, talking and acting without consideration of the other person’s feeling could hurt him or her seriously and became an invisible killer.
So, to solve this problem, it is important to say good things to others with a respectful attitude. You have to realize that what you say can hurt someone or make him or her happy. I realized these things and praised the people around me more than three times a day such as my friends, teachers, and parents. For example, I told Sejin that she seemed really smart to solve such a difficult problem and told geographic teacher that his new hairstyle looked good. Everyone who heard my compliments was embarrassed at first, but they seemed happy. I felt better when I saw them smiling, too. As I praised the people around me more than three times a day, the atmosphere in my classroom, in school and in my home became more harmonious.
Through this activity, I realized that my small word could make a person feel good personally. I hope everyone know the need for positive words to make the better world. Also, I want to practice my respect for others not only in words but also in actions.
