T: Wow, it looks like people are starting to reply about the barbecue. Has anyone said they can't make it?
G: Not yet. I think 14 people said yes already.
T: That's great! but where is everyone going to sit? The picnic table holds 6 and we have very few outdoor chairs.
G: We don't have to enough chairs? How could I forget something so obvious?
T: Don't beat yourself up over it. I'll ask my brother if we can borrow his again.
G: Thanks, Terry! I don't know how I dropped the ball on this.
A: Oh, look! Worldwide Cruises in having a special deal this month.
M: A cruise? I thought you wanted to stay in a little countryside house in France?
A: I gave it some thought and I think want a more active vacation.
M: Well, I been itching to rent a camper van and drive along the Mediterranean coast from Spain to Italy.
A: Come to think of it, that's a much better plan.
M: Yeah, and since we'll be sleeping in the van, won't have to go to a hotel every night.
L: Did you agree to foster the dog for the animal shelter your friend volunteers at?
J: Yeah, I brought Brian home on Friday evening. So I was there the whole weekend while he got settled in.
L: How is your dog Chauncey coping with a new dog in the house?
J: It took a few days, but once Brian came out of his shell, the two began playing and even taking naps together.
L: That's gteat!
J: It really is. Chauncey seems more energetic having a foster brother around.
Z: So, how do you think my training is going?
I: After looking at the data from the running app on your watch, it looks like four miles is tiring you out. You really slow down after that.
Z: It's still early. I'll continue to build up my endurance for the race.
I: Yeah, but it looks like you've plateaued. I want you to take the next two days off.
Z: But won't that set me back with my training?
I: Not at all. Rest is an importantant part of the process, You'll see.
B: So, is our company in trouble or not?
M: My friend who works for our biggest competitor said she heard rumors that our company is about to downsize.
B: It feels like they're about to throw us under the bus. Why haven't they shared this information with us yet?
M: Yeah, it seems like they would want to keep us in the loop.
B: Well, we're having a staff meeting on Monday, so we should know more soon.
M: Still, you should probably update your resume over the weekend.
Why do we dread Monday's so much?
The main reason is that we've gotten into a more relaxed frame of mind and don't want to thinking about all the work we left piled up on our desk since Friday.
But Monday doesn't have to be bad.
Here are three things you can do to make it the best day of your week.
First, you can make it the day you get dressed up and show everyone the new outfit you bought.
Second, you can leave home a little earlier and squeeze in a morning workout.
And finally, you can bring in some cookies or fruit and enjoy the smiles on your coworker's faces.
