시학 23장은 플롯

플롯은 극의 전체 얼개.

시작과 중간 끝이 있어서 살아있는 유기체처럼 

통일성을 갖추고 적절한 즐거움을 만들어 내야 하는 것. 

As to the poetic imitation which is narrative in form and employs a 

single meter, the plot manifestly ought, as in a tragedy, to be constructed

on dramatic principles. It should have for its subjects a single action,

whole and complete, with a beginning, a middle, and and end

It will thus resemble a living organism in all its unity, and produce 

the pleasure proper to it. 

형식은 이야기이고 하나의 운율을 사용하는 시적 모방인 플롯은 

비극에서처럼 극의 원리에 따라서 만들어져야한다. 다루는 이야기는

온전하고 완벽한 하나의 행위로서, 시작과, 중간. 끝이 있어야한다. 

모든 면에서 살아있는 유기체의 통일성을 닮아야하고, 그에 적절한

쾌감을 만들어내야한다.
