(서울=연합뉴스) 임형섭 기자 = 더불어민주당 이재명 대표는 23일 "모멸감을 주는 방식으로 상대를 공격하거나 의사 표현을 억압하는 방식으로 비난하면 논쟁이 어려워진다"며 지지자들을 향해 의견이 다른 상대방을 향한 과도한 공격을 삼가달라고 당부했다.

Lee Jae-myung, chairman of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 23rd, "If you attack the other party in a way that makes you feel humiliated or condemn it in a way that suppresses the expression‎ of your opinion, it becomes difficult to argue," and asked his supporters to refrain from excessive attacks on the other party with different opinions.

이재명 대표는 이날 소셜미디어(SNS)에 '지지자 여러분, 비난을 멈춰주십시오'라는 글을 올려 "반대 의견도 포용하는 다양성의 힘을 통해 우리는 더 나은 세상, 새로운 나라로 전진할 수 있다"며 이같이 말했다.

On the same day, Lee posted on social media (SNS), "Please stop criticizing supporters," and said, "Through the power of diversity that embraces dissent, we can move forward with a better world and a new country."

이 대표는 "(상대 주장 중에) 팩트가 틀린 것이 있으면 반박하고, 예의와 품격을 갖춰 토론하면 된다"면서도 "그러나 결국 다 함께 할 식구끼리 서로 비방을 하면 누가 가장 좋아하겠나"라며 비방이 과열돼선 안 된다고 거듭 강조했다.

Representative Lee said, "If there is anything wrong with the facts (of the other arguments), we can refute them and discuss them with courtesy and dignity," but reiterated that the slander should not be overheated, saying, "But in the end, if all the family members who will be together slander each other, who will like it the most?"

이 대표는 "왕정 국가에서도 군주의 의견에 반대하는 '간관'을 일부러 채용했고, 기업들은 조직의 발전을 위해 '레드팀'을 구성하기도 한다"며 "조용한 숲은 불타버린 숲뿐이고, 조용한 강은 댐에 갇혀 썩어가는 강뿐임을 기억해야 한다. 민주주의의 산물인 정당에서는 논쟁은 당연히 권장해야 할 일"이라고 주장했다.

"Even in the monarchy, government officials were intentionally appointed to oppose the monarch's opinion, and companies sometimes form 'red teams' for the development of their organizations," Lee said. "We must remember that the only quiet forest is the burned-out forest, and the only quiet river is the river that is trapped in the dam and decaying. Debate should be encouraged in political parties that are products of democracy."

그는 특히 "지금은 헌정 파괴에 반대하는 헌정 수호 세력이 모두 힘을 합쳐 위기를 극복하는 것이 시급하고 중요한 과제"라며 "힘을 합쳐 내란을 완전히 종식하고 민생을 회복하는 데 총력을 다하자"고 촉구했다.

In particular, he urged, "It is an urgent and important task for all constitutional protection forces against the destruction of the constitution to join forces to overcome the crisis," adding, "Let's work together to completely end the civil war and restore people's livelihoods."

최근 이 대표의 '중도 보수론'을 두고 당내 정체성 공방이 벌어지는 상황에서, 이 대표의 강성 지지층이 비명(비이재명)계 인사들을 공격할 경우 계파 간 갈등으로 번질 수 있다는 우려가 담긴 메시지로 풀이된다.

This is interpreted as a message that concerns that if Lee's strong supporters attack non-Lee Jae-myung, it could lead to conflict between factions at a time when there is a dispute over the party's identity over Lee's "moderate conservatism."

한편 이 대표는 이날 당내 정체성 공방과 관련해서는 "민주당은 본시 중도정당으로, 진보성이 더 중요한 시대 상황에선 진보적 중도의 역할을, 보수성이 더 중요할 땐 중도 보수의 역할을 더 크게 했다"며 "지금은 국민의힘의 '극우클릭'으로 민주당의 책임과 역할이 커진 것뿐"이라고 말했다.

On the other hand, regarding the party's identity dispute, Chairman Lee said, "The Democratic Party is the main centrist party, playing a more progressive role in an era when progressiveness is more important, and a more moderate conservative role when conservatism is more important," adding, "Now, the Democratic Party's responsibility and role have grown due to the 'far-right click' of the people's power."

이재명 민주당 대표는 "진보와 보수는 시대 상황에 따라 상대적"이라며 "서구 선진국 기준에 의하면 김대중 문재인 이해찬 등의 지적처럼 민주당은 보수 정당이거나 그에 가깝다"면서 이같이 말했다.

"Progress and conservatism are relative according to the situation of the times," Lee said. "According to Western advanced countries' standards, the Democratic Party of Korea is or is close to a conservative party, as pointed out by Kim Dae Jung Moon Jae In Lee Hae-chan and others."

그는 "국민의힘이 윤석열·전광훈을 끌어안고 극우 본색을 드러내며 '겉치레 보수'의 역할마저 버리고 범죄 정당의 길로 떠났다"며 "헌정 회복, 법치 수호, 성장 회복 등 국민의힘이 버리고 떠난 보수의 가치를 민주당이 책임져야 한다"고 강조했다.

"The people's power embraced Yoon Seok-yeol and Jeon Kwang-hoon, revealed their far-right nature, abandoned the role of "conservative on the outside" and left for the path of a criminal party," he said. "The Democratic Party should take responsibility for the value of conservatives that the people's power has abandoned, such as restoration of constitution, protection of the rule of law, and recovery of growth."
