26:1 Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, honor is not fitting for a fool.

여름에 눈이나 추수기에 비와 같이 명예가 어리석은 자를 위하여 적당하지 않다.

26:2 Like a fluttering(펄럭거리는) sparrow or a darting(날아가는) swallow,

펄럭이는 참새처럼, 날아가는 제비처럼,

an undeserved(부당한) curse does not come to rest. 부당한 저주는 쉬지 않는다.

26:3 A whip(채찍) for the horse, a halter(굴레) for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools!

말에게는 채찍이, 당나귀에게는 굴레가, 어리석은 자의 등에는 막대기가 있구나!

26:4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly(어리석음), or you will be like him yourself.

어리석은 자에게 그의 어리석음에 따라 대답하지 말라, 그렇지 않으면 너도 그와 같을 것이다.

26:5 Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.

어리석은 자에게는 그의 어리석음에 따라 대답하라, 그렇지 않으면 그는 스스로 지혜롭다고 생각할 것이다.

26:6 Like cutting off one's feet or drinking violence is the sending of a message by the hand of a fool.

어리석은 자의 손으로 메시지를 보내는 것은 발을 잘라내는 것이나 폭력을 마시는 것과 같다.

26:7 Like a lame man's legs that hang limp(늘어져있다.) is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.

어리석은 자의 입에서 나오는 잠언은 절름발이의 다리가 축 늘어지는 것과 같다.

26:8 Like tying a stone in a sling(돌팔매) is the giving of honor to a fool.

어리석은 자에게 영예를 베푸는 것은 돌을 팔매에 묶는 것과 같다.

26:9 Like a thornbush(가시덤불) in a drunkard's hand is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.

어리석은 자의 입에 잠언은 술주정뱅이의 손에 있는 가시덤불과 같다.

26:10 Like an archer(궁수) who wounds at random is he who hires a fool or any passer-by.(지나가는 사람)

어리석은 사람이나 지나가는 사람을 고용하는 것은 무작위로 상처를 입히는 궁수와 같다.
