In their scramble to increase year-end sales, auto companies and dealerships are offering discounts running into hundreds of millions of dong.
They include on some of the most popular compact CUV models in the market.
The biggest discount is on the Forester, Subaru’s best-selling product in Vietnam, at VND220-280 million (US$9,066-11,539), which takes the car’s prices down to VND749-969 million.
Other big discounts include VND200 million on the Volkswagen Tiguan (VND1.799 billion) and VND234 million on the Haval H6 (VND862 million).
Kia Sportage, priced at VND859-1,029 million, comes with a discount of VND60-70 million, while Mitsubishi foots the registration fee of VND92-114 million on its Outlander.
With consumers less eager to buy cars, even the newly launched 2024 Honda CR-V is being sold at a big discount, though only locally assembled ones.
In Hanoi, its G and L versions get VND15-20 million off in addition VND10-15 million worth of accessories for free.
The Ford Territory, also with a 100% registration fee subsidy, is the most affordable car in the segment at only VND740-823 million.
These massive discounts come after two new cars in the segment, Mazda CX-5 and Hyundai Tucson, were launched in July and October, at record low prices.
Now they come with a VND3-5 million discount or free accessories.
As of October the CX-5 dominated the compact high-clearance segment with sales of 13,031. It was followed by the Honda CR-V at 4,210.
