성경말씀: 로마서 9~10장

“내가 그리스도 안에서 진실을 말하고 거짓말 아니함을 내 양심이 성령 안에서 증거하느니라(9:1)” 하였듯, 그리스도인은 언제 어디서나 조금도 거짓이 없어야 되고, “내 마음에 그치지 않는 큰 근심과 고통이 있으니, 나의 형제 골육과 친척을 위하여 내가 저주를 받아 그리스도에게서 끊어질지라도 원하는 것이라. 그들은 하나님의 특별한 자녀로 선택받은 이스라엘 백성으로 하나님의 영광을 보며 언약을 맺고 율법을 받아 경배할 성전과 언약이 있고, 그들의 조상들은 하나님의 백성이고 그리스도께서도 육신으로는 유대인으로 나셨으나 만물을 다스리시며 영원히 찬양을 받으실 하나님이시라(9:2-5)” 하였듯, 죄와 사망에 얽매여 죽어가는 영혼들을 불쌍히 여기며 구원으로 인도하려는 간절하고 진실한 사랑으로 복음을 전하고 증거해야 됩니다.

Anyone who believes in Christ must be free from even the slightest falsehood, anytime and anywhere, as “I speak the truth in Christ—I am not lying, my conscience confirm‎s it in the Holy Spirit (9:1)” And we must preach and testify the gospel with earnest and sincere love, taking pity on the souls who are dying, bound by sin and death, and leading them to salvation, as “I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised. Amen. (9:2-5)”

왜냐하면, “하나님의 말씀은 폐기되지 아니하니, 이스라엘의 후손들이 다 이스라엘이 아니고, 아브라함의 후손들이 다 그의 자녀가 아니며 오직 이삭에게서 난 자만 네 후손이라 하리라 기록되었으니, 육신의 자녀는 하나님의 자녀가 아니고 오직 약속의 자녀가 아브라함의 후손으로 여기심을 받느니라. 내년 이맘때 내가 오리니 사라에게 아들이 있으리라 약속하셨음이라(9:6-9)” 하였듯, 영원히 변함이 없는 하나님의 말씀과 언약에 숨겨진 진리를 올바로 알고 따라 지키며 순종해야 올바른 믿음으로 인정하시기 때문입니다.

Because, only by correctly understanding, following, and obeying the truth hidden in God’s eternally unchanging Word and covenant can we be recognized as having the right faith, as “It is not as though God’s word has failed. For not all who are descended from Israel are Israel. Nor because they are his descendants are they all Abraham’s children. On the contrary, ‘It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned. In other words, it is not the natural children who are God’s children, but it is the children of the promise who are regarded as Abraham’s offspring. For this was how the promise was stated: At the appointed time I will return, and Sarah will have a son (9:6-9)”

그러나 많은 사람들이, “행위로 말미암지 않고 부르심을 따라 되므로 리브가에게 큰 자가 작은 자를 섬기리라 하셨으니, 내가 야곱은 사랑하고 에서는 미워하였다 기록되었음이라. 그러니 우리가 어떻게 말할까 하나님께서 불의하시냐 결코 아니하니라. 나는 긍휼히 여길 자에게 긍휼을 베풀고 측은히 여길 자를 동정하느니라 모세에게 하셨으니, 사람의 원함이나 노력을 따라 되지 않고 오직 하나님의 긍휼을 따라 됨이라(9:12-16)” 하는 말씀에 겉으로 나타나는 의미에 속아 복음의 진리를 올바로 찾지 않고 하나님의 절대적인 권위로 예정하고 선택하여 부르시는 은혜로 믿음에 들었으니 구원을 얻었다 착각하는 그릇된 확신에 빠집니다.

However, many people are deceived by the outward meaning of God’s word and do not correctly seek the truth of the gospel. Instead, they fall into the false confidence that they have been saved because they entered into faith by the grace of God’s absolute authority, predestined, chosen, and called, as “Not by works but by him who calls—she was told, ‘The older will serve the younger. Just as it is written: Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated. What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all. For he says to Moses, ‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion. It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy (9:12-16)”

그리고, 하나님이 주신 자유의지로 “하나님께서 바로에게 내가 이 일을 위하여 너를 세웠으니 너로 말미암아 내 능력을 나타내고 내 이름이 온 땅에 전파되게 하려 함이라 성경이 말하였으니, 하나님은 긍휼히 여기실 자에게 긍휼을 베푸시고 완악하게 하실 자를 강퍅하게 하심이라(9:17-18)” 하였듯, 하나님을 거역하는 악한 죄를 저지르고 징계와 고난을 당하면서도 깨닫지 못합니다.

And even though they commit evil sins against God with the free will given by God and suffer punishment and suffering, they do not realize it, as “For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. Therefore, God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden (9:17-18)”

또한 “하나님이 그의 진노와 능력을 나타내고 알리시려고 멸망으로 예비하신 진노의 그릇에게 오래 참고 관용하시며, 영광으로 예비하신 긍휼의 그릇에게 풍성한 영광을 알리셨더라도 무슨 말을 하겠느냐, 그 그릇은 유대인뿐만 아니라 이방인 중에서도 부르신 우리들이라. 호세아의 글에 이르기를 내가 백성이 아닌 자를 내 백성이라 하고 사랑하지 않은 자를 사랑한 자라 부르리라. 너희는 내 백성이 아니라 하던 곳에서 그들이 살아 계신 하나님의 아들이라 일컬음을 받으리라 함과 같음이라(9:22-26)” 하였듯, 말씀과 성령으로 끊임없이 가르치며 회개로 인도하시는 하나님의 은혜조차 배우지 못합니다.

Moreover, they do not even properly understand the grace of God, who constantly teaches them through His Word and the Holy Spirit and leads them to repentance, as “What if God, choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath—prepared for destruction? What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory—even us, whom he also called, not only from the Jews but also from the Gentiles? As he says in Hosea: I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one, and, ‘It will happen that in the very place where it was said to them, ‘You are not my people, they will be called ‘sons of the living God. (9:22-26)”

그러나 “이스라엘 자손들이 비록 바다의 모래 같이 많을지라도 남은 자만 구원을 받으리라. 주께서 지상 최후의 심판을 신속하게 시행하시리라(9:27-28)” 하였듯, 육신의 종말로 맞이하는 마지막 시험에 굴복하지 않고 구원의 언약을 신뢰하며 하나님께 맡기고 죽어야 구원을 얻으므로, “내 영혼을 아버지께 부탁하나이다(눅23:46)” 숨지시고 부활하시는 구원의 진리를 보이셨고, “내가 이스라엘의 구원을 간절히 사모하며 하나님께 기도하노라. 그들이 하나님께 열심이 있으나 올바른 지식을 따른 열심이 아님을 내가 증거하노라. 그들이 하나님에게서 오는 의를 모르고 자기 의를 세우려고 애쓰므로 하나님의 의에 복종하지 못하느니라. 그러나 그리스도께서 믿는 자들을 모두 의롭게 하시려고 율법의 마침이 되셨느니라(10:1-4)” 하셨습니다.

However, we must not succumb to the final test that comes with the end of the flesh, but trust in the covenant of salvation, entrust ourselves to God, and die to be saved, as “Though the number of the Israelites be like the sand by the sea, only the remnant will be saved. For the Lord will carry out his sentence on earth with speed and finality. (9:27-28)” So, Jesus, who was crucified, died and entrusted himself to God the Father, and taught and showed the truth of salvation through resurrection, as “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit. (Luke23:46)” And the Scripture testified it, as “My heart’s desire and prayer, to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. (10:1-4)”

그러므로 “율법을 따라 의를 행하는 사람은 그로 말미암아 살리라 모세가 기록하였으나, 믿음에 따른 의는 말하기를 누가 하늘에 올라가겠느냐 생각함은 그리스도를 모셔 내리려는 것이니 하지 말라 하였고, 누가 무저갱에 내려가겠느냐 함은 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 모셔 올리려는 것이므로 하지 말라 하였음이라. 그러면 무엇을 말하느냐 우리가 전파하는 믿음의 말씀이 네 입과 네 마음에 가까이 있다 하였음이라. 네 입으로 예수를 주로 시인하며 하나님께서 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리신 것을 마음으로 믿으면 구원을 받으리라(10:5-9)” 하였듯, 그리스도께서 보여주신 죽음과 부활에 소망을 두고 죽기까지 순종해야 영생을 얻습니다.

Therefore, we must place our hope in the death and resurrection that Christ showed us and obey until death to obtain eternal life, as “Moses describes in this way the righteousness that is by the law: The man who does these things will live by them. But the righteousness that is by faith says: ‘Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven? That is, to bring Christ down, or ‘Who will descend into the deep? That is, to bring Christ up from the dead. But what does it say? The word is near you, it is in your mouth and in your heart, that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: That is you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved (10:5-9)”

그러므로, “사람이 마음으로 믿어 의에 이르고 입으로 시인하여 구원에 이름이니라. 누구든지 그를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당하지 아니하리라 성경에 기록되었음이라. 모든 사람에게 풍부한 복을 주시는 주께서 다 같은 주가 되시므로 유대인이나 헬라인이나 차별이 없느니라. 누구든지 주의 이름을 부르는 자는 구원을 받음이라(10:10-13)” 하신 말씀도, 유대인처럼 선민사상에 빠져 이방인을 차별하고 전하지 않는 죄악에 빠지지 말고, 온 세상 모든 사람에게 차별이 없는 진실한 사랑으로 복음의 진리를 전하며 그리스도의 구원으로 인도해야 됩니다.

Therefore, we must not fall into the foolish sin of discriminating against and not preaching to Gentiles, like the Jews, who were obsessed with the idea of being the chosen people. Instead, we must spread the truth of the gospel with true love that does not discriminate and lead people all over the world to the salvation of Christ, as “For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, ‘Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame. For there is no difference between Jew and gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved, (10:10-13)”

그래서 “믿지 않는 이를 어떻게 부르며 듣지 못한 이를 어떻게 믿고 전파하는 자가 없으면 어떻게 들으며, 보내심을 받지 않았으면 어떻게 전파하겠느냐 아름답도다 좋은 소식을 전하는 자들의 발이여 기록됨과 같음이라. 그러나 이사야가 주여 우리가 전한 것을 누가 믿었나이까 하였듯 모든 이스라엘 백성이 다 복음을 받아들이지는 않았으나, 믿음은 들음에서 나고 들음은 그리스도의 말씀으로 말미암느니라(10:14-17)” 하며 복음의 진리를 전하며 믿음으로 인도하는 사랑과 생명의 열매를 맺으라 가르치셨습니다.

So, the Lord taught us to bear the fruit of love and life that leads us to faith by preaching the truth of the gospel, as “How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news. But not at all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our message? Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ. (10:14-17)”

그러므로 “그 소리가 온 땅에 퍼졌고 그 말씀이 땅 끝까지 이르렀다 하였으니 그들이 다 들었느니라. 내가 다시 말하는데 이스라엘이 알지 못하였느냐 내가 백성 아닌 자로써 너희를 시기하게 하며 미련한 백성으로써 너희를 노엽게 하리라 모세가 먼저 말했고, 내가 나를 찾지 아니한 자들에게 찾은 바 되고 내게 묻지 아니한 자들에게 나타났노라 이사야가 매우 담대하게 말했으며, 이스라엘에게는 순종하지 않고 거슬러 말하는 백성에게 내가 종일 내 손을 벌렸다 하였듯(10:18-21)” 각자에게 허락하신 육신의 삶이 끝나기 전에는 끊임없이 용서하며 회개할 기회를 주시지만, 복음의 진리를 잊지 말고 두렵고 떨리는 마음으로 죽기까지 순종해야 대속과 구원을 얻습니다. 사랑하는 성도 여러분, 모두 그처럼 겸손하고 올바른 믿음으로 그리스도의 대속과 구원을 얻어 부활하고 영생하기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Therefore, before the end of the physical life that God has granted to each person, He continually forgives and gives them opportunities to repent, as “Did they not hear? Of course, they did: Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Again, I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, ‘I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding. And Isaiah boldly says, ‘I was found by those who did not seek me; I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me. But concerning Israel he says, ‘All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people. (10:18-21)” However, only by not forgetting the truth of the gospel and obeying with fear and trembling hearts until death can we obtain redemption and salvation. Dear saints, I pray earnestly in the name of Jesus Christ that you may all be humble and obedient to death with the right faith, obtain redemption and salvation, and be resurrection and given eternal life. Amen.
