WASHINGTON, March 4 (Yonhap) -- U.S. President Donald Trump is set to say Tuesday that South Korea, Japan and other countries want to be partners as his administration is working on a natural gas pipeline in Alaska, according to excerpts of his planned address to a joint session of Congress.

The White House released the excerpts before Trump's first address to the joint session since his second presidential term began in January.
"My administration is also working on a gigantic natural gas pipeline in Alaska, among the largest in the world, where Japan, South Korea, and other nations want to be our partner -- with trillions of dollars being spent by them. It will truly be spectacular," he was to say.

(워싱턴=연합뉴스) 조준형 특파원 = 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령은 4일(현지시간) 집권 2기 첫 의회 연설에서 한국의 알래스카 가스관 사업 참여를 환영한다는 입장을 밝힐 예정이다.

백악관이 트럼프 대통령의 연설에 앞서 배포한 연설문 발췌록에 따르면 트럼프 대통령은 이날 상하원 합동연설에서 "나의 행정부는 알래스카에 세계 최대 규모 중 하나인 거대한 천연가스 파이프라인을 건설하고 있다"며 "일본, 한국, 그리고 다른 나라들이 우리의 파트너가 되기를 원하고 있다"고 소개할 계획이다.

이어 트럼프 대통령은 한국 등이 "수조 달러를 지출(투자)할 것"이라며 "그것은 정말 멋진 일이 될 것"이라고 말할 것으로 발췌록에 적시됐다.

트럼프 대통령은 또 "이번 주 나는 핵심 광물과 희토류의 미국 내 생산을 극적으로 확대하는 역사적 조치를 취할 것"이라고 말할 예정이라고 발췌록은 전했다.
