9절 : 왕의 강림으로 기뻐하는 시온

그 왕은 의로우신 승리의 왕이시며 나귀를 타신다고 합니다. 그 이유는 그의 성품이 겸손하기 때문입니다. 겸손은 탈 것의 크기 때문이 아닙니다. 비천한 인간의 몸을 입으시고 죽음의 길을 가신 하나님의 아들 예수님의 모습입니다.

그는 근본 하나님의 본체시나 하나님과 동등됨을 취할 것으로 여기지 아니하시고 오히려 자기를 비워 종의 형체를 가져 사람들과 같이 되었고 사람의 모양으로 나타나셨으매 자기를 낮추시고 죽기까지 복종하셨으니 곧 십자가에 죽으심이라 (빌2:6~8)

10절 : 평화의 왕, 만왕의 왕

병거와 말과 전쟁하는 활을 끊으시는 모습은 평화의 시대가 시작된다는 것입니다. 적그리스도로 대표되는 로마황제는 자신을 신격화하며 로마의 평화를 가져오는 인물이 자신이라고 공공연히 선언하기도 했습니다. 세상에 진정한 평화를 주시는 분은 평화와 안식의 근원이신 하나님 자신이십니다.

11절 : 언약의 피

언약은 반드시 피가 동반됩니다. 곧 짐승제사를 드리며 피를 흘린즉 사함이 있게 되는 것입니다. 피를 흘린 짐승이 자신의 생명으로 죄값을 치루게 됩니다. 그 피의 공로로 죽을 죄인이 물없는 구덩이 곧 자력으로는 빠져나올 수 없는 죄의 수렁에서 건짐받습니다.

12절 : 귀환과 형통

갇혀 있는데 소망이 있다는 것은 믿음을 버리지 않은 소수의 남은 자들이 있다는 것입니다. 그들은 하나님을 소망으로 삼고 그 분의 구속을 바라는 자들입니다. 요새(fortress)는 하나님께서 예비하신 도피성(refuge)이며 구원의 방주이며 회복될 에덴입니다. 곧 교회를 상징하며 마지막 새 예루살렘을 가리킵니다.

13절 : 용사의 칼

구속받고 귀환한 포로들은 용사로 거듭나게 됩니다. 고통의 시간으로 연단된 사람들은 갇힌 자들을 위한 투쟁에 기꺼이 참여합니다. 이들은 믿음의 용사요 기도의 일군이며 중보의 무릎을 강하게 한 사람들입니다. 헬라자식은 소동하는 적군들입니다. 그의 군사된 우리는 어둠에 속한 권세를 예수의 이름으로 깨뜨리고 생명과 치유를 세상에 전하는 하나님의 군대입니다.

14절 : 번개와 나팔과 바람

번개와 바람은 천사들의 존재를 상징할 때 많이 쓰이는 비유입니다. 나팔은 계시록에서 마지막 때를 알리는 천사들이 사용하는 것으로 군대의 진군을 알립니다. 마지막 심판의 때에 하나님의 군대들은 나팔소리를 듣고 번개처럼 적진을 부수며 하나님께서 타고 가시는 성령의 바람이 됩니다.

15절 : 하나님의 호위와 피의 제사

하나님은 원수를 밟고 승전하는 그의 군대를 호위하십니다. 술취한 자의 부르는 노래처럼 성령에 취하여 예수의 보혈을 의지하고 세상에 그 분의 희생을 알리며 그의 피의 능력으로 승리를 얻는 우리는 그의 군사들입니다.

16절 : 양떼와 보석

예수님은 자신을 양의 목자이며 양의 문이라고 말씀하십니다. 예수님을 통해서만 아버지께로 나아갈 수 있기에 그는 문이 되십니다. 잃은 자들을 찾고 치료하시고 모아 인도하시는 그는 양의 목자입니다. 그의 사랑하는 양들이 여호와의 땅에 거하면 그들은 왕관의 보석처럼 아름답고 고귀한 존재로서 사랑받습니다. 세상은 우리를 가치없다 폄하하지만 하나님은 우리를 소중하고 귀하게 보십니다.

17절: 형통함과 아름다움

보석처럼 빛나는 그의 백성은 말씀과 성령 곧 곡식과 새포도주로 윤택하게 된 젊은이들로서 영육간의 강건함을 얻고 누리게 됩니다. 이것은 세상이 흉내낼 수 없는 하늘의 아름다움과 강건함과 형통함이며 마지막 주님 오실 그 때 온전해 질 것입니다. 그의 다시 오심을 기다리며 기쁨과 자원하는 심령으로 하나님을 섬기며 경배합니다.

Verse 9: Zion Rejoices at the Coming of the King

The King is righteous and victorious, yet He comes riding on a donkey. This is not because of the size of His mount, but because of His humble nature. It is the image of Jesus, the Son of God, who took on the lowly form of man and walked the path of death.

> “Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:6–8)

Verse 10: The King of Peace, King of Kings

The breaking of chariots, horses, and war bows signifies the beginning of an era of peace. The Roman emperor, often seen as the Antichrist, declared himself divine and claimed to bring Roman peace. But true peace comes only from God, the source of rest and peace.

Verse 11: The Blood of the Covenant

Every covenant is accompanied by blood. In the Old Testament, animal sacrifices were made, and the shedding of blood brought forgiveness. The animal paid the price of sin with its life. Through the merit of that blood, sinners are rescued from the pit without water—a symbol of the helplessness of sin.

Verse 12: Return and Prosperity

Hope in captivity means there are still a faithful remnant who have not abandoned their faith. They place their hope in God and long for His redemption. The fortress is a refuge prepared by God—a place of salvation, a restored Eden. It symbolizes the Church and ultimately points to the New Jerusalem.

Verse 13: The Sword of the Warrior

Those who are redeemed and returned become warriors. Refined through suffering, they willingly fight for the captives. They are warriors of faith, laborers in prayer, and intercessors strengthened in spirit. The sons of Greece represent the chaotic enemy forces. As God’s army, we break the powers of darkness in Jesus’ name and bring life and healing to the world.

Verse 14: Lightning, Trumpet, and Wind

Lightning and wind often symbolize the presence of angels. The trumpet, as seen in Revelation, signals the final hour and the advance of God’s army. At the time of final judgment, God’s army hears the trumpet, strikes like lightning, and becomes the wind of the Holy Spirit that carries God’s presence.

Verse 15: Divine Escort and Sacrifice of Blood

God surrounds His victorious army as they trample their enemies. Like drunkards singing songs, we are filled with the Spirit, relying on the blood of Jesus. We proclaim His sacrifice to the world and gain victory through the power of His blood—we are His soldiers.

Verse 16: Sheep and Jewels

Jesus calls Himself the Shepherd and the Gate for the sheep. Only through Him can we come to the Father. He seeks the lost, heals them, gathers them, and leads them. His beloved sheep dwell in the land of the Lord and are like jewels in a crown—beautiful and precious. Though the world may deval‎ue us, God sees us as treasured and honored.

Verse 17: Prosperity and Beauty

His people, shining like jewels, are nourished by the Word and the Spirit—symbolized by grain and new wine. These young ones receive strength in body and spirit. This heavenly beauty, strength, and prosperity cannot be imitated by the world and will be perfected when the Lord returns. As we await His coming, we serve and worship God with joy and willing hearts.
