THEY got drunk, ogled at bikini-clad pole dancers, cosied up with brunettes in low-cut clingy dresses, and sauntered into hotels with babes in hot pants.

And Wayne Rooney lost his infamous temper - again.

Manchester United's devils lived up to their name when they painted the town red on Tuesday night during the Macau leg of their Far East tour.

Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Alan Smith, Rio Ferdinand, John O'Shea and Michael Carrick were among the party-goers who descended on the Fashion Club at the Fisherman's Wharf, a day after they had trashed Chinese club Shenzhen FC 6-0.

Some 300 fans and reporters got wind of their appearance and rushed to the club.

But the footballers were whisked into a VIP room guarded by two bouncers, where the pole-dancers and several Caucasian hotties arranged by the club soon appeared to entertain the team.

The alcohol soon kicked in and the Red Devils were partying up a storm.

Married goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was among the most badly behaved of the lot, reported Hong Kong's Apple Daily.

The Dutch international, who looked tipsy, didn't seem to be able to keep his hands off the women.

He and Carrick were then seen leaving the club with two young women in hot pants and entered a nearby hotel together.

Half an hour later, van der Sar returned to the club, and immediately chatted up a different brunette, whispering into her ear and behaving intimately with her.

Soon after, Carrick and the two women reappeared. They grabbed O'Shea, and the four left the club together. This time, they were chased by reporters and photographers.

The two footballers looked irritated when they saw the media.

They parted ways with the women, got into a private car, which later stopped for the duo to withdraw money from an ATM.

After speaking to their driver, they suddenly dashed off, jumped into a cab which sped off - possibly to party on at another venue.

Back at the VIP room, Smith reportedly could not keep his eyes off a busty woman in a low-cut, clingy dress.

But it was Rooney's bust-up with the media that hogged the headlines of Oriental Daily.

The England striker and some teammates left Fashion Club at 2am to head to another club.

But when photographers rushed towards them at the entrance, snapping away, the red-faced Rooney was heard saying irritably: 'They photo all the day' and 'Stop! It's enough!'

As the group walked to the carpark, he mustered a smile and told the reporters to go back as he was heading back to the hotel.

But when the papparazzi tailed him in their cars, he lost his temper.

Just three minutes after driving off, he reportedly asked his driver to stop, got out of the car and marched up at a photographer, shouting: 'You photo all the day, I'm going home. You want to talk? Talk! Talk! Talk!'

Oriental Daily reported that he looked as if he was about to lash out at the photographer. Fortunately, his minders rushed forward to restrain him.

But he still wouldn't give up.

He marched up to one of the reporter's cars and shouted at them through the open window, warning them to stop following him. After the tongue-lashing, he finally got back into his car.

Oriental Daily reported that the only well-behaved footballer was Ronaldo, who only drank water and spent most of the night chatting with his friends.

But Apple Daily reported that he was aloof, ignoring the fans and reporters and grunting in reply to almost all their questions.

When the Red Devils left Macau for Guangzhou the next day, their departure was delayed by two hours, reported Apple Daily.

Several of them looked pale, and showed little energy when signing autographs for fans.
