20. 코로나 시대, 유튜브 법회, COVID-19 and YouTube Dharma Assemblies

『화엄경』공부가 무르익고 있는데 2020년 초, 코로나가 발생했다.

코로나 시국이 갈수록 위중해졌다.

대면법회가 열리지 못하는 달이 생겼다. 무비스님은 <소참법문>이라고 해서 2020년 2월 21일부터 8월 17일까지 간단한 법문들을 매일 30분씩 녹화하여 문수법공양회를 통해 기존에 있던 유튜브 채널에 올렸다.

코로나 상황을 보면서 아슬아슬하게 8월 문수선원의 법회가 열린 날, ‘핸드폰으로 유튜브 라이브 방송을 할 수 있다’는 정보를 드렸다. 무비스님은 당장에 시현해 보라고 여러 사람을 불렀는데, 법회 시간이 촉박해서 모두 대강 설명만 드리고 직접 유튜브 방송 시현을 보여드리지는 못했다.

그 후 한달이 지나서 무비스님이 직접 화엄전에서 실시간 유튜브 시험 방송을 했다.

‘새가 날개짓을 연습하듯 시도하고 시도하여’ 유튜브 라이브 방송 기술을 직접 터득한 것이다.

이날이 2020년 9월 6일이다. 이제 문수법공양회의 도움없이 무비스님이 혼자서 어느 때고 라이브 방송을 할 수 있게 되었다.

청중으로 실시간 온라인 <염화실TV>에 모인 신도들이 가벼운 한담이나 짧은 생활법문을 해주셔도 좋겠다면서 환호할 때, 무비스님은 ‘아까운 시간과 자원을 허투루 써서는 안 된다’며 곧이어 경전 강의를 시작했다.

In early 2020, while the study of the Avatamsaka Sutra was deepening, COVID-19 broke out.

The COVID-19 situation got worse and worse.

There were months when in-person Dharma assemblies could not be held.

From February 21 to August 17, 2020, Mubi Seunim recorded 30-minute Dharma talks every day. These short talks, titled Socham Beommun, were uploaded to an existing YouTube channel through the Munsu Dharma Offering Society.

In August, despite the uncertain COVID-19 situation, a Dharma assembly was narrowly held at Munsu Seonwon. On that day, information was shared that YouTube live streaming is possible using just a mobile phone.

Mubi Seunim asked several people to show a demonstration right away. However, because time was running out, they only gave brief explanations and could not show a live broadcast.

A month later, Mubi Seunim personally did a test live stream on YouTube at Hwaeomjeon.

Just like a bird practicing its wings to fly, he tried again and again until he mastered the skill of YouTube live streaming.

That day was September 6, 2020. Now, Mubi Seunim can do live broadcasts by himself at any time, without any help from the Munsu Dharma Offering Society.

Followers gathered on the online channel Yeomhwasil TV cheered and asked for light talk or short stories about daily life. However, Mubi Seunim said, 'We must not waste precious time and resources.' Then, he immediately began his lecture on the scriptures.
