20260727 Monday of the Seventeenth Week in Ordinary Time

(Jer 13:1-11; Mt 13:31-35): Starting with the Greatest of Small Things Praise be to Jesus Christ. Today’s Word of God shows us side by side who we are called to be, and how our humble, seemingly insignificant daily lives carry within them a truly magnificent potential. In Jeremiah 13:11, the Lord speaks to us: “For as a loincloth clings to a man’s loins, so I made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah cling to me… to be my people, my renown, my praise, my glory.” The life God desires for us is not one of oppression or subjection. Rather, by remaining fully within His love, we are meant to become His true renown, praise, and glorious radiance in the world. Just as parents deeply and tenderly wish for their children to thrive and become a light to the world, God earnestly desires that we cherish His love and reveal His radiant beauty to creation. Yet, when we stray from His embrace and yield to worldly desires, we lose our true value and light—much like the hidden loincloth that rotted away into uselessness. How, then, can we who live today become God’s shining glory? In the Gospel, Jesus reveals this path to us through the parables of the mustard seed and the leaven. Perhaps today, our faith, our prayers, and our small acts of love and service may seem tiny and powerless against the overwhelming tides of the world. There are surely moments when we feel helpless, wondering, “Will my prayer really change the world?” or “What meaning does my one little sacrifice have?” Yet, just as the Lord teaches us, although the mustard seed is the smallest of all seeds, when fully grown it becomes a large tree where the birds of the sky come and dwell in its branches. Likewise, though hidden from view, leaven lifts and transforms the whole batch of dough into rich bread. No matter how small or weak we may feel right now, God deeply treasures every humble step we take to cultivate the Kingdom of God right where we stand. A single warm word offered today, a small inconvenience quietly endured, moments spent bearing with difficult relationships through patient love, or a brief prayer offered in silence—these are the holy leaven that transforms the dough of this world, and the gentle branches of the mustard tree that offer rest to the weary. As it is written in Matthew 13:35, “I will open my mouth in parables, I will announce what has lain hidden from the foundation of the world.” In this way, our small acts will one day become instruments that reveal and fulfill God’s holy will. My dear brothers and sisters, the Lord wishes today to bind us closely to Himself, like a radiant sash around His waist. When we remain completely at home in His love, our quiet lives will become His honor, gently illuminating the world around us. Even if we feel small and insignificant right now, do not lose heart or be discouraged. We are already holy seeds carrying within us the great tree of God’s Kingdom. Today, let us cling closely to the Lord, breathing in His love, and with all our hearts cultivate the modest field of daily life entrusted to us. May you all have a truly blessed day. Amen.
