A Small Lake

I

In my heart

From some point on

There is a small lake

Sometimes clouds pass by

Looking into their faces frantically

Reflected on a small lake

At times birds laugh out loud among themselves

Looking into their faces

Reflected on a small lake

At night evening stars come and talk in a low voice

Looking into their faces

Reflected on a small lake

Day and night

I reflect myself 

On the small lake in my heart

In my heart

From some point on

There is a small lake not freezing even in the middle of winter

II

From some quiet point in me,
A little lake began to be.

Soft and still, it came to stay,
Calm and clear in its own way.

Sometimes clouds go drifting by,
Peeking down from up the sky.

In the lake, they softly see
Smiling shapes that look like me.

Often birds come fluttering near,
Full of song and gentle cheer.

In the lake, their faces bright
Dance and shimmer in the light.

At night, stars come one by one,
Shining softly when day is done.

They whisper low, they gently glow,
And paint the lake with silver flow.

Inside, I look into that place,
And find my own small, quiet face.

Day or night, it stays the same,
A steady light, a gentle flame.

From that quiet point in me,
Lives a lake so calm and free.

Even when the cold winds wake,
Winter cannot freeze my lake.

작은 호수

내 안에는 언제부터인가

작은 호수가 하나 있습니다.

가끔 구름이 지나가다가 작은 호수에 비친

제 얼굴을 정신없이 들여다보고 갑니다.

더러는 새들이 작은 호수에 비친

제 얼굴을 들여다보고 저희들끼리 깔깔대기도 합니다.

밤이면 저녁 별들도 찾아와 작은 호수에 비친

제 얼굴을 보며 나직나직 말을 겁니다.

나도 밤낮을 가리지 않고 자주

내 안의 작은 호수에다 나를 비추어봅니다

내 안에는 언제부터인가

한겨울에도 얼지 않는 작은 호수가 하나 있습니다.
