You must Trust in God’s Covenant and Die to be Saved

성경말씀: 데살로니가 전서 4~5

Scripture Reading: 1Thessalonians 4~5

본문에서 “형제들아 우리가 마침내 주 예수 안에서 너희에게 권면하고 간청하노라 너희가 어떻게 하나님을 기쁘시게 하는 삶을 살 수 있는지 우리가 가르쳤고 너희가 시행하는 대로 살도록 더욱더 힘쓰라. 우리가 주 예수께서 주신 권위로 어떻게 가르쳤는지 너희가 앎이라. 하나님의 뜻은 너희가 거룩하게 되어 음행을 피하고, 각자 자기 몸을 다스리며 거룩하고 존귀하게 살며, 하나님을 모르는 이방인처럼 색욕에 빠지지 말라(4:1-5)”하였듯, 성령께서 가르치고 인도하며 사용하고 증거하시는 능력을 따라 전하고 권면하는 복음 사역자를 따라 배우고 믿으며 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 일을 항상 살피고 찾으며 시행하려고 노력해야 육신의 욕망에 속지 않게 됩니다.

We must learn from and believe in the gospel ministers who preach and exhort according to the power of the Holy Spirit, who teaches, guides, uses and testifies, and we must always seek, search, and strive to do what pleases God so that we will not be deceived by the desires of the flesh, as “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus. It is God’s will that you should be sanctified, that you should avoid sexual immorality, that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable, not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God. (4:1-5)”

왜냐하면, “우리가 이미 너희에게 말하고 경고한 대로 하나님이 그런 죄를 벌하시리니 그런 문제로 형제를 속이거나 해하지 말라. 하나님이 우리를 거룩함으로 부르셨지 부정함으로 부르시지 않았음이라. 그런 교훈을 저버리는 자는 사람의 교훈을 저버림이 아니고 너희에게 성령을 주신 하나님을 저버림이라. 형제 사랑에 관하여는 너희에게 쓸 것이 없으니 너희가 하나님의 가르침을 받아 서로 사랑하며, 마게도냐 모든 형제들을 사랑함이라 그러나 더욱더 많이 사랑하기를 권하노라(4:6-10)” 하였듯, 하나님은 영으로나 육신으로나 음란한 죄를 가장 싫어하고 멸시하며 벌하시며 사랑으로 섬기는 사람을 가장 기뻐하며 사랑하며 복을 주시고 사용하며 이루시기 때문입니다.

Because, God most hates, despises and punishes the sins of sexual immorality, whether spiritual or physical, and most delights in, loves, blesses, uses and fulfills those who serve Him with love, as “That in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all these who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before. For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life. Therefore, anyone who rejects this instruction does not reject a human being but God, the very God who gives you his Holy Spirit. Now about your love for one another we do not need to write to you, for you yourselves have been taught by God to love each other. And in fact, you do love all of God’s family throughout Macedonia. Yet we urge you, brother and sisters, to do so more and more. (4:6-10)”

그러므로 우리가 말한대로 조용한 삶을 열망하며 자신의 일을 열심히 하라. 그러면 너희가 아무도 의지하지 않고 외인들에게 존경을 받으리라. 형제들아 잠자는 사람들에 대하여 알지 못하고 소망도 없는 사람들처럼 슬퍼하지 않기를 바라노라. 예수께서 죽으셨다 다시 살아나셨음을 우리가 믿으면 하나님이 예수 안에서 죽은 자들을 예수와 함께 데리고 오실 줄 믿어야 함이라(4:11-14)” 하였듯, 성령께서 가르치고 인도하며 맡기시는 일에만 순종하면 믿지 않는 사람들에게도 그리스도인으로 인정과 사랑을 받게 하시며 죽기까지 올바르고 겸손한 믿음을 지키게 하시는 은혜로 대속과 구원을 얻어 부활하고 영생하게 됩니다.

Therefore, if you obey only the work that the Holy Spirit teaches, guides and entrusts to you, then you will be recognized and loved as a Christian even by non-believers, and through the grace of Emmanuel, you will be resurrected and receive eternal life through redemption and salvation in Christ Jesus, which allows you to maintain a righteous and humble faith until death, as “To make it your ambition to lead a quiet life. You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody. Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. (4:11-14)”

그러므로 각자가 선택한 믿음과 삶에 따라 구원하거나 심판하시려고 사람에게 자유의지를 주셨으므로, 각 사람의 선택에 따라 개별적으로 역사하며 이루게 하시는 임마누엘 하나님의 섭리를 올바로 알지 못하고, 믿음 안에서 죽은 사람들의 구원이나 부활을 보이지 않으므로 의심하고 믿음이 흔들리는 사람들을 위로하고 격려하는, “주님의 말씀에 따르면 주께서 강림하실 때까지 살아남은 자라도 죽은 자들보다 결코 앞서지 못함이라. 하나님의 나팔 소리와 천사장의 호령 소리와 함께 주께서 친히 하늘에서 내려오시면 그리스도 안에서 죽은 자들이 먼저 일어나고, 아직 살아있는 우리도 그들과 함께 구름 속으로 끌어올려져 공중에서 주님을 만나고 영원토록 주와 함께 있으리라. 그러므로 이런 말로 서로 격려하라(4:15-18)” 말씀에 겉으로 나타나는 의미에 속지 않아야 합니다.

Therefore, since God gave people free will to save or judge them according to their chosen faith and life, we should not be deceived by the outward meaning of the words that comfort and encourage those who doubt and waver in their faith, since we do not properly understand the providence of God Immanuel, who works and accomplishes things individually according to each person’s choice, and since the salvation or resurrection of those who died in faith is not visible, as “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with a voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore, encourage one another with these words. (4:15-18)”

왜냐하면 “형제들아 그 날과 시간은 너희에게 쓸 필요가 없으니, 주의 날이 밤에 도둑같이 갑자기 이를 줄 너희가 잘 앎이라. 잉태한 여자에게 갑자기 출산의 고통이 임하는 것처럼 사람들이 평안하고 안전하다 방심할 때에 아무도 피하지 못하도록 멸망이 갑자기 임함이라. 형제들아 너희는 어둠에 속하지 않았으므로 그 날이 도둑같이 임하지 아니하리라(5:1-4)” 하였듯, 그리스도의 재림과 구원은 다른 사람이 결코 일자 못하도록 개별적이고 은밀하게 이루어지기 때문이고, 그래서 “그 날과 그 때는 아무도 모르나니 하늘의 천사들도, 아들도 모르고 오직 아버지만 아시느니라(마24:36)” 하셨기 때문입니다.

Because, for the second coming of the Christ and salvation are accomplished individually and secretly, so that no one else can see or know about it, as “Now brothers and sisters, about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, Peace and safety, destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But, you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. (5:1-4)” That’s why the Lord Jesus also instructed it, as “about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven nor the Son, but only the Father, (Matthew24:36)”

그러므로 “너희는 다 낮과 빛의 아들이라 우리가 밤이나 어둠에 속하지 않았으나, 우리는 다른 사람들처럼 자는 자가 되지 않게 정신을 차리고 깨어 있으라. 잠자는 자들은 밤에 자고 술 취하는 자들도 밤에 취함이라. 낮에 속한 우리는 절제하며 믿음과 사랑을 갑옷으로 입고 구원의 소망을 투구로 쓰자. 하나님은 우리가 진노를 받게 하시지 않았고 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 통하여 구원을 얻게 하셨음이라(5:5-9)” 하였듯, 성령의 진리와 사랑을 따라 믿고 신뢰하며 자신을 맡기고 죽기까지 순종하는 사람들에게 개별적으로 찾아와 가르치시고 이루시므로 다른 사람은 결코 볼 수 없고 알지 못합니다.

Therefore, only those who believe, trust, entrust themselves to the truth and love of the Holy Spirit and obey until death are individually visited, taught, guided, used and fulfilled by Him, therefore, no one else can ever see or know, as “You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ. (5:5-9)”

그러므로 “예수께서 우리를 위하여 죽으심은 우리가 깨어 있든지 잠자든지 그와 함께 살게 하려 하심이라. 그러므로 너희가 하던 대로 서로서로 권면하며 덕을 세우라. 형제들아 주 안에서 너희를 다스리고 권면하며 수고하는 자들을 존경하라. 그들의 헌신으로 너희가 서로 화목하게 되므로 가장 존귀하게 여기며 사랑하라. 형제들아 너희가 게으른 자들을 권계하며 연약한 자들을 격려하고 힘없는 자들을 돕고 모든 사람에게 오래 참기를 권고하노라(5:10-14)” 하였듯, 누구든지 그리스도의 십자가 죽음과 부활을 확신하며, 자신을 하나님께 맡기고 죽으면 반드시 구원을 얻어 부활하고 영생하게 됩니다.

Therefore, anyone who believes in the death and resurrection of Christ on the cross and entrusts himself to God and dies will surely be saved, resurrected and receive eternal life in Christ, as “He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him. Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other. And we urge you, brothers and sisters, warn those who are idle and disruptive, encourage the disheartened, help the weak, be patient with everyone. (5:10-14)”

그러므로 “누구든지 악을 악으로 갚지 말고 항상 모든 사람에게 친절을 베풀라. 항상 기뻐하라. 쉬지 말고 기도하라. 범사에 감사하라 이것이 그리스도 예수 안에서 너희를 향한 하나님의 뜻임이라. 성령의 불을 꺼뜨리지 말고, 예언을 멸시하지 말며, 모든 것을 시험하여 선한 것을 붙잡고, 모든 악을 피하라. 그러면 평강의 하나님이 친히 너희를 온전히 거룩하게 하시고 너희의 영과 혼과 몸이 우리 주 예수 그리스도께서 강림하실 때까지 흠이 없게 보전하시리라(5:15-23)” 하였듯, 모든 사람의 마음에 임하시는 임마누엘 하나님 성령을 바라보며 원수까지도 용서하고 진실한 사랑으로 위하여 기도하며 기뻐하고 감사하며 죽기까지 순종해야 합니다.

Therefore, we must look to the Holy Spirit of God Immanuel, who dwells in the hearts of all people, forgive even our enemies, pray for them with true love, rejoice, be thankful, and obey until death, as “Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always strive to do what is good for each other and for everyone else. Rejoice always. Pray continually. Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt, but test them all, hold on to what id good, reject every kind of evil. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (5:15-23)”

그래야만, “너희를 부르신 하나님은 신실하사 반드시 이루심이라. 형제들아 우리를 위하여 기도하라. 그리스도의 사랑으로 모든 형제들을 문안하라. 내가 주의 이름으로 명하니 이 편지를 모든 형제에게 읽어 주라. 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜가 너희와 함께 있으리라(5:24-28)” 하였듯, 임마누엘 하나님께서 이루어 주시는 믿음과 은혜와 선물로 그리스도의 대속과 구원을 얻어 부활하고 영생하기 때문입니다. 사랑하는 형제자매 여러분, 하나님의 언약을 신뢰하며 임마누엘 하나님 성령께 맡기고 죽기까지 순종하는 믿음으로 대속과 구원을 얻어 부활하고 천국에 올라가 영생하기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Only then, can we obtain Christ’s redemption and salvation through faith, grace and gifts from God Emmanuel, and attain resurrection and eternal life, as “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. Brothers and sisters, pray for us. Greet all God’s people with a holy kiss. I charge you before the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers and sisters. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. (5:24-28)” Dear saints, I pray earnestly in the name of Jesus Christ that you may receive redemption and salvation through faith in God’s covenant, entrusting yourself to the Holy Spirit of Immanuel God, and obeying until death, so that you may be resurrected and ascend to heaven for eternal life. Amen.
