<P><B>Jack and Jill</B> (J&J) or <B>Dance with a Stranger</B> (<B>DWAS</B>) is a format of competition in partner dancing, where the competing couples are the result of random matching of <A class=con_link title="Lead and follow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lead_and_follow" target=_blank><U><FONT color=#0033cc>leaders</FONT></U></A> and <A class=con_link title="Ballroom glossary" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ballroom_glossary#Follower" target=_blank><U><FONT color=#0033cc>followers</FONT></U></A>. Rules of matching vary. <P>In the UK, it is normal to randomly assign fixed couples, and then keep those couples fixed throughout the competition (for example, if there are multiple rounds). Thus, the winner is largely decided by luck of the draw, with the winning couple often being regular dance partners who were lucky enough to be paired together. As a result, DWAS competitions are not taken as seriously as fixed partner competitions.</P>
<P>In the US, it is normal for couples to be changed between rounds. Thus, the luck factor is reduced, and as a result, J&J competitions are taken more seriously.</P>

첫댓글 대회에 따라서는 원래의 파트너와 짝지어진 경우 다시 뽑기도 한다고 하더군요. (그런 경우는 아직 못 봤음...)
잭일질 참가자는 파트너와 연습을 해두긴 하겠지만 그 파트너와 호흡을 맞출 수 있을지는 운에 좌우되는 경향이 크겠군요. 공연용처럼 미리 안무 짜고 오는 줄 알았는데.. 감사합니다. ㅎ
