Letter of Recommendation
Dear Admissions Officer,
I am proud to recommend Azalea Lee for admission at your university. I am the chairman of the Weerey History & Culture Research Center. At the center, we run a program called the Weerey Youth Culture Keepers to encourage teenage students' participation in cultural community service. Since April of 2005, as a member of Do-nam-mo-gae, a teenagers volunteer group associated in the Weerey Youth Culture Keepers program, Azalea has actively engaged in monitoring and protecting the historic sites of Hanseong Baekje, an ancient Korean kingdom, in Songpa District, Seoul. She also participated in promotion activities to enhance the local residents' understanding on the history of Hanseong Baekje and the value of cultural properties, and in cleanup activities around the historic sites.
In January of 2006, Azalea, along with other members, published a brochure, Mongi & Choni's Time Travel. This brochure is designed to help young visitors, such as elementary school students, to the Mongchon Museum of History to understand the value of cultural properties of Hanseong Baekje. And in June of 2007, another children's book she and the other members wrote was published. The title of the book is Byeoli & the Detective's Adventure to Find Bombs Hidden in the Royal Tombs of the Chosun Dynasty. By Describing the adventures of the main characters to find out the interesting secrets of the royal tombs, the book explains the structure of royal tombs made during the Chosun Dynasty, and a brief history of the Dynasty to young students.
For the above mentioned achievements, she won the official commendation as an exemplary student from the head of Songpa District and the chairman of Songpa Cultural Center in February, 2006. She also won a distinguished award at the 8th Prudential Spirit of Community Awards in September, 2006, jointly organized by the Prudential Life Insurance Company of Korea and the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development. In July 2007, she won another commendation from the Songpa Cultural Center as an exemplary student in community service.
Azalea has stayed devoted to community service, and shown a particularly strong interest in history and cultural properties. She also demonstrated leadership in doing the joint projects with other students. She lives up to her responsibilities, and has a loving and caring heart for others. In particular, Azalea has a passion for her serving the community.
To conclude, I would like to restate my strong recommendation for Azalea Lee. I trust that she will unleash her full potential in your esteemed school's educational environment, and that she will make great contributions to the international community after graduation.
Sincerely yours,
Oh Duck-mhan
Chairman,
Weerey History & Culture Research Center
