Namaste~
First, congratulations on your pregnancy^^
Iyengar says that it’s fine [good] to practice all asanas during the first trimester, right?
However, that statement is controversial.
Moreover, in some yoga books, it is said that, in the early stages of pregnancy, absolute stability is important.
However, to say that in some month of the pregnancy, certain postures are good, and some postures should be avoided is an extremely non-yogic conception.
This is because yoga is extremely individual work. Some pregnant women have difficulty sitting still, while there are others who can of course come into headstand and also into postures like scorpion^^
In addition, we cannot overlook [the fact that] the state of body and mind of pregnant women from former days and pregnant women nowadays are different! …and, the physical constitution [of the people] and the environment of India and Korea are different, etc.
If, [the person had] steadily practiced yoga from [long] before, and their health was excellent, then practicing asana now wouldn’t be any problem.
But you have to observe your [the pregnant person’s] condition closely until you're [the pregnant mother is] in stable condition because, for many women of today, their uterus is not as robust as that of pregnant women in the past. Think of the house of the three pigs~~^^ The intensity and type of asana have to be chosen according to what home I have built.
Generally, I want to recommend that pregnant women avoid postures such as cobra, bow, and locust. Especially, at the very start…This goes against Iyengar’s theory, but… ^^Usually, at the start of pregnancy, there is no stimulation in the stomach, so you could think that it’s okay to do these postures, but because the function of postures which pulls energy downwards is strong, if the embryo is not securely implanted on the uterine wall, they could be dangerous.
The reason for not drinking green tea during pregnancy is similar to this…^^ When creating the sequence, structural and physiological parts are important, but you also have to think of the energetic part, too.
Camel pose in the early stage of pregnancy…. First, you’d have to determine whether the person has anemia, right? ^^ This is a posture for which people who have anemia or low blood pressure, more than the pregnancy itself, have to be careful about. In particular, in the morning or after intense exercise, when you’re exceedingly tired, after bending backward and coming back, you could directly fall over and become injured. There are many people who have intense anemia during pregnancy…^^
Carefully, carefully, bit by bit… always observing my body~~~^^
Various [kinds of] standing… Of course, any posture is possible… However, whatever posture it is, I have to do it suited to my body…. Passages in books and what you have learned until now are simply guidance. Knowledge is always vulnerable to [or, helpless in the face of] new experiences.
The more you apply it, the better. Especially, it will help the diet during pregnancy, and be very supportive of storing [saving/creating] the physical stamina needed for childbirth.
I hope you will center on [or, prioritize] simple and easy postures, and repeat them…. Absolutely don’t overdo it (especially the ankle or knee). Refrain from twisting postures such as revolved triangle, side angle, revolved side angle, and if even simple, basic postures (warrior 1, 2, tree pose, …) are difficult, adjust them into an easy way and do them. Always relax~~
Supta matsyendrasana…Intensive twisting [or, supta matsyendrasana] in a classic form will not help at all, and it is a posture you have to be careful about… That is, avoid postures which have a strong function to discharge impurities [or, foreign objects] in the body…At the start of pregnancy, there is a tendency for the body to perceive the embryo in the stomach as one foreign object in the body. There is also a view that morning sickness is a way to discharge impurities [or, foreign objects]. Of course, this is a mind-set part.
Do twisting lightly by changing it into something like light stretching~~
Sun salutations… If the person has anemia or dizziness, be careful of standing postures with a backbend, and do downward-facing dog lightly (this also is a posture that stimulates the uterus a lot)… substitute cat pose instead of cobra posture, etc. if you apply a light variation to the posture, you can do it without overstrain.
More than the thought of not wanting to increase the body weight, you’d want the child in your stomach to grow up healthily and comfortably, right?
First, more than the posture, focus on a comfortable feeling. Yoga asana is stopping effort and meditating on infinity.
This will become the best prenatal care…^^ Whether you do asana or breathing, if you always do it in self-awareness, there will not be any problem. Yoga done properly is, in other words, diet. ^^
During pregnancy, you are in the best physiological and psychological state to meditate.
Light asana… good breathing...relaxing with sweet music~~~ In a yogic atmosphere, make a time of heart-fluttering waiting…
Om Shanti, Shanti!
