본문에서 “우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지 하나님을 찬송하라 그의 많으신 긍휼로 예수 그리스도를 죽은 자 가운데서 부활시키심으로 우리에게 거듭날 산 소망이 있게 하셨으니, 썩지 않고 더럽지 않고 쇠하지 않는 하늘에 간직하신 기업을 얻게 하셨음이라. 너희는 말세에 나타내려고 예비하신 구원 얻을 믿음으로 말미암아 하나님의 능력으로 보호를 받으므로, 너희가 지금 여러 가지 시험으로 근심하게 되어도 크게 기뻐함이라. 그것으로 너희가 불로 정제하여도 없어지는 금보다 더 귀하고 진실한 믿음으로 입증하여 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 칭찬과 영광과 존귀를 얻게 함이라(1:3-7)” 하였듯, 예수 그리스도의 부활에 소망을 두고 믿되 어떤 고난과 핍박도 참고 이겨내도록 가르치며 인도하는 성령의 십자가를 사랑하며 죽기까지 순종해야 진실하고 올바른 믿음입니다.

For the true and correct faith is who believes in the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and loves the cross of the Holy Spirit, that teaches and guides us to endure and overcome any hardship and persecutions and obeys it until death, as “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith, of greater worth that gold, which perishes even though refined by fire, may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. (1:3-7)”

왜냐하면, “너희가 예수를 보지 못하였으나 사랑하며 지금도 보지 못하나 믿고 영광스러운 기쁨으로 충만한 것은, 너희 믿음의 목적인 영혼의 구원을 받았음이라. 이 구원은 선지자들이 큰 관심으로 탐구하여 너희에게 임할 은혜를 예언하였으니, 그리스도의 영이 그들 속에 계시며 받으실 고난과 그후의 영광을 미리 알리신 때와 상황을 알려고 노력하였으나, 그런 계시가 자신들을 위한 것이 아니고 너희를 위한 것임을 말하였고 천사들도 살펴보기 원하는 것을 하늘에서 보내신 성령의 능력으로 복음을 전하는 자들이 너희에게 전하였음이라(1:8-12)” 하였듯, 아담의 죄로 말미암아 에덴동산 생명나무의 길이 막혔고(창3:24), 우리의 영적인 눈과 귀와 마음을 열어 보여주고 들려주며 믿게 하는 성령의 은혜가 없으면 성경 말씀에 숨겨진 진리를 보거나 듣거나 믿지 못하기 때문입니다.

Because of Adam’s sin, the path to the Tree of Life in the Garden of Eden was blocked, and without the grace of the Holy Spirit, who opens our spiritual eyes, ears and hearts to see, hear and believe, no one can see, hear or believe the truth hidden in the Bible, as “Though you have not seen him, you love him, and even though you do not seen him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things. (1:8-12)”

그러므로, “너희 마음을 절제하고 준비하며 예수 그리스도께서 나타나실 때에 너희에게 가져오실 온전한 은혜를 바라라. 너희가 알지 못하고 살던 욕망에 굴복하지 말고 하나님께 순종하는 자녀가 되라. 너희를 부르신 이가 거룩하심 같이 너희도 오직 거룩하라. 내가 거룩하니 너희도 거룩하라 기록되었음이라. 너희가 각 사람의 행위대로 공평하게 심판하시는 이를 아버지라 부르므로 경건한 두려움으로 나그네처럼 살아라. 너희가 금이나 은 같이 없어질 것으로 조상들에게서 물려받은 헛된 삶에서 구속을 받은 것이 아니고, 오직 흠 없고 티없는 어린양 그리스도의 보배로운 피로 되었음이라(1:13-19)” 하였듯, 성령께서 가르치지 아니하면 하나님의 어린양 예수 그리스도의 십자가 죽음과 부활에 숨겨진 진리를 알지 못하게 되고, 성경 말씀에 따라 믿고 찬양하며 전하고 증거할지라도 마태 7:21-23 말씀처럼, 믿음으로 인정받지 못하고 심판을 받습니다.

Therefore, If the Holy Spirit does not teach us, we will not know the truth hidden in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, even if we believe, praise, preach and testify according to the words of the Bible, we will not be recognized for our faith but will be condemned, as in Matthew 7:21-23, as “Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. As, obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. But just as he who called you is holy in all you do, for it is written. Be holy, because I am holy. Since you call on a Father who judges each person’s work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1:13-19)”

그런 복음의 진리를 말씀과 성령으로 가르쳐도 깨닫는 사람이 없으므로, “그는 창세 전에 택하심을 받아 세상에 계시되고 말세에 너희를 위하여 나타나셨음이라. 너희는 그를 죽은 자 가운데서 살리시고 영광스럽게 하신 하나님을 믿으므로 너희 믿음과 소망이 하나님께 있음이라. 너희가 진리를 순종하며 깨끗해진 영혼으로 거짓이 없이 형제를 사랑하게 되었으니 마음으로 뜨겁게 서로 사랑하라. 너희가 썩어질 씨로 되지 않고 썩지 아니할 씨로 거듭났으니 영원히 살아 있는 하나님의 말씀으로 되었음이라. 그러므로 모든 육체는 풀과 같이 마르고 그들의 영광은 꽃과 같이 떨어지나, 오직 주의 말씀은 영원하다 하였으니 곧 너희에게 전한 복음이라(1:20-25)” 하였듯, 하나님께서 사람 예수로 세상에 오셨고, 십자가에 죽기까지 순종하며 사망을 이기고 부활하는 영생의 길을 보여주며 따라오게 하셨습니다.

Because, no one understood the truth of the gospel even when taught through the Word and the Holy Spirit, so God came to the world as the man Jesus, and by obeying even to the point of death on the cross, He showed us the way to eternal life through overcoming death and resurrection, and made us follows Him, as “He has chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God. Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for each other, love one another deeply, from the heart. For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. For, ‘All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field, the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord endures forever. And this is the word that was preached to you. (1:20-25)”

그러므로 “악의와 기만과 위선과 시기와 비방을 모두 버리라. 너희 믿음을 구원에 이르도록 자라게 하는, 순수하고 신령한 젖을 갓난아기들처럼 사모하라. 너희가 주의 선하심을 맛보았음이라. 사람들에게 버림받았으나 하나님께서 선택하신 보배롭고 살아있는 모퉁이 돌 예수께 나아가라. 너희도 살아있는 모퉁이 돌 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 신령한 집으로 세워지고 하나님이 기쁘게 받으실 신령한 제사를 드리는 거룩한 제사장이 되리라(2:1-5)” 하였듯, 우리의 지식과 생각을 모두 버리고 오직 말씀과 성령의 진리를 올바로 알고 따라 지키며 순종해야 임마누엘 하나님의 성전이 됩니다.

Therefore, we must abandon all our knowledge and thoughts, and only correctly know, follow, and obey the truth of the Word and the Holy Spirit to become the temple of God, Immanuel, as “Rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind. Like new born babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, the living Stone, rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him, you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. (2:1-5)”

왜냐하면, “내가 택한 보배로운 모퉁이 돌을 시온에 두어 그를 믿는 자는 부끄러움을 당하지 않게 하리라 성경에 기록되었음이라. 믿는 자에게는 보배로운 돌이지만 믿지 않는 자에게는 건축자들에게 버림받은 모퉁이 돌이요. 사람들이 부딪치고 걸려 넘어지는 돌이니 받은 말씀에 순종하지 않는 자들이 걸려 넘어지게 예정하셨음이라. 그러나 너희는 어둠에서 불러 내어 그의 기이한 빛으로 인도하신 이를 찬양하게 하시려고 택하신 족속이요 왕 같은 제사장들이며 거룩한 나라와 그의 소유가 된 백성이라. 이전에 백성이 아니었던 너희가 이제는 하나님의 백성이요 긍휼을 얻지 못하던 너희가 이제는 긍휼을 얻었음이라(2:6-10)” 하였듯, 누구나 자신이 선택하여 믿는 진리에 따라 구원과 심판이 결정되기 때문입니다.

Because, everyone’s salvation and judgement are determined by the truth they choose to believe, as “For in Scripture it says: See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame. Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone, and ‘A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fell. They stumble because they disobey the message, which is also what they were destined for. But you are a chosen people, royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God, once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (2:6-10)”

그러므로 “사랑하는 자들아 너희 영혼을 거슬러 싸우는 육체의 정욕을 다스리며 세상에서 외국인과 나그네처럼 살기 원하노라. 이방인 가운데서 선행을 하여 너희를 악하다 비방하는 자들이 너희 선한 행실을 보고 그분이 오시는 날에 하나님께 영광을 돌리게 하라. 주를 위하여 인간의 모든 제도에 순종하라 왕에게 최고의 권위를 주고, 악한 자를 처벌하고 선한 자를 포상하라고 총독을 보낸 것은, 너희의 선행으로 어리석은 사람들의 무식한 말을 막으시려는 하나님의 뜻임이라. 자유민으로 살아가되 그 자유로 악행을 가리지 말고 하나님의 종처럼 살아라. 모든 사람을 형제처럼 사랑하고 존중하며 하나님과 왕을 경외하며 공경하라. 종들아 선하고 관대한 주인이나 포악한 주인이나 전심으로 존경하며 복종하라. 부당한 고난을 받으면서도 하나님을 생각하며 고통을 참고 견디면 칭찬을 받음이라(2:11-19)”하였듯, 우리 모두 영생의 천국을 바라보며 세상 모든 사람을 사랑으로 섬기는 선한 삶을 살도록 노력해야 됩니다.

Therefore, we must all strive to live good lives, serving everyone with love, with our eyes set on the eternal kingdom of heaven, as “Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us. Submit yourse3lves for the Lord’s sake to every human authority, whether to the emperor, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to command those who do right. For it is God’s will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover up for evil, live as God’s slave. Show proper respect to everyone love the family of believers, fear God, honor the emperor. Slaves, in reverent fear of God submit yourselves to your masters, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. (2:11-19)”

그래서 “그런 일을 위하여 너희가 부르심을 받았고 그리스도께서도 너희를 위하여 고난을 받으시며 본을 보이시고 그의 발자취를 따라오게 하셨음이라. 그는 거짓말을 하거나 죄를 범하시지 않았으나, 모욕을 당해도 반박하시지 않았고 고난을 당해도 위협하지 아니하시며 오직 공의로 심판하시는 하나님께 맡기셨음이라. 우리가 죄에 대하여 죽고 의에 대하여 살게 하시려고 우리의 죄를 짊어지고 십자가에 달리신 몸의 상처로 너희가 치유를 받았음이라. 길을 잃은 양처럼 방황하던 너희가 이제는 영혼의 목자와 감독자께 돌아왔음이라(1:21-25)” 하였듯, 예수께서도 하나님의 능력을 사용하시지 않고, 십자가의 고난에 죽기까지 순종하고 부활하는 생명의 길을 보여주며 가르치고 따라오게 하셨습니다. 성도 여러분, 그리스도를 본받아 죽기까지 순종하는 믿음으로 구원을 받아 영생하기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

So, Jesus did not use God’s infinite power at all, but obeyed until death on the cross and showed us the way to life through resurrection, teaching us to follow to Him, as “To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps. He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth. When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate, when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness, by his wounds you have been healed. For you were like sheep going astray, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls. (2:21-25)” Dear Saints, I pray earnestly in the name of Jesus Christ that you may obtain salvation and eternal life through faith that follows Christ’s example and obeys Him until death. Amen.
