I’ve read the Business Plan submitted by Mr. Young Ho Lee to build a First People Workout Center in the community of Tuba City to benefit students from kindergarten through high school and adults alike. The Navajo Nation is plagued high unemployment, substance abuse; suicide, teen pregnancy, gang violence, school dropout, and domestic violence just to name a few. If these negative and devastating issues affecting our youth and adults aren’t addressed and appropriate resources aren’t made available, I can’t ignore, but to see what lies ahead for our future generation.

It is rare that individuals come to the Navajo Nation to offer assistant by investing into worthwhile businesses/projects that can bring about positive change and encouragement to our Navajo communities. After reading Mr. Lee’s business plan I was encouraged and realized that there is hope for our youth and adults who are afflicted with social ills, and that by participating in positive activities they can find their basic human values, and by utilizing those values they can overcome any negative obstacle(s) in their lives and become a productive and contributing members of their communities.

Many of our Navajo students fail to obtain and/or maintain adequate grades while attending schools. In most cases they have lost interest and the motivation to attend school; they become vulnerable and are easily coerced through peer pressure to act out and/or display negative/bad behavior, but with support and resources such as one described in Mr. Lee’s business plan our students can exceed academically to achieve and accomplish many things in life.

I fully support Mr. Young Lee in his proposal to build a First People Workout Center in the community of Tuba City. His business plan is simple, easy to read and understand. A vision as such cannot be ignored because these types of opportunities come our way once in a great while. I respectfully request that the First People Workout Center proposal and business plan be given full consideration. If this proposal is a success, it could very well be considered for other Navajo Nation communities.

어떤 개인이 나바호국을 찾아와 이 사회에 긍정적인 변화를 초래할 수 있는 사업을 시도한다는 것은 정말 드문 일이 아닐 수 없습니다. 이선교사의 사업계획을 읽음으로써 나는 이 사회의 아픔 속에서 고통 받고 있는 젊은이들도 이 사업의 긍정적인 활동들을 통해서 기본적인 삶의 가치를 찾아 자신과 사회를 위하여 새 삶을 살아갈 수 있을 거라는 희망과 격려를 느끼게 되었습니다.

많은 나바호의 학생들이 학교에서 적절한 학력을 갖추지 못하고 있습니다. 그들은 학업에 대한 동기와 의욕을 상실하고 무기력하게 주변의 부정적인 영향에 굴복하고 맙니다. 그런데 이선교사의 사업계획은 그들이 학업에 충실할 뿐 아니라 그로 인해 삶의 많은 열매들을 얻을 수 있는 길을 제시하고 있습니다.

나는 Tuba City에 “First People Workout Center"를 세우고자 하는 이선교사의 사업계획을 전적으로 지지합니다. 그의 사업계획서는 단순하여 읽고 이해하기 쉽습니다. 이런 꿈이 있는 기획은 우리가 간과해서는 안 될 너무나 드물게 우리를 찾아오는 기회입니다. 나는 이 사업계획이 충분히 검토되기를 진심으로 부탁드립니다. 만일 이 계획이 Tuba City 안에서 성공한다면 나바호국 내 다른 지역에서도 같은 일이 이뤄질 수 있도록 고려해야 할 것입니다.
