성경말씀: 야고보서 3 ~ 5장

Scripture Reading: James 3~5

본문에서 “형제들아 너희 많은 사람이 선생이 되지 않음이 좋으니라 선생 된 우리가 더 엄격한 심판을 받을 줄 앎이라. 우리가 다 실수가 많으니 만일 말에 실수가 없으면 온 몸을 다스릴 수 있는 온전한 사람이라. 우리가 말의 입에 재갈을 물리면 마음대로 통제하며 순종하게 할 수 있고, 광풍에 밀려가는 큰 배도 지극히 작은 키로써 사공이 원하는 대로 조종함과 같음이라. 아주 작은 불꽃이 얼마나 큰 숲을 태우는지 생각해보라 그와 같이 아주 작은 혀가 얼마나 큰 자랑을 하느냐, 우리 몸에서 혀는 지옥에서 나오는 불과 악의 지체로서 온 몸을 더럽히고 인생을 불태우며 파괴함이라(3:1-6)” 하였듯, 길흉화복이나 믿음과 심판이 모두 우리의 말에서 시작되므로 항상 절제하며 선하고 의로운 말을 해야 합니다.

Almost of the our good or bad fortunes, faith salvation and judgement are influenced by our words, so we must always be restrained and speak good and righteous words only, as “Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. Anyone who is never at fault in what they say is perfect, able to keep their whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. (3:1-6)”

왜냐하면 “온갖 짐승과 새와 파충류와 바다의 생물은 다 사람이 길들일 수 있고 길들여 왔으나, 치명적인 독과 죄악을 끊임없이 뿜어내는 혀는 사람이 길들이지 못함이라. 한 입으로 우리가 주 하나님 아버지를 찬송하고 하나님의 형상대로 지으심을 받은 사람을 저주함이라. 내 형제들아 한 입에서 찬송과 저주가 나오는 것이 옳지 않음이라. 한 샘에서 어떻게 단 물과 쓴 물이 나오겠느냐(3:7-11)” 하였듯, 우리가 스스로 마음을 다스리며 절제하기가 참으로 힘들기 때문입니다.

Because, it is truly difficult and challenging for us to control and discipline our own minds, as “All kinds of animals, birds, reptiles and sea creatures are being tamed and have been tamed by mankind, but no human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? (3:7-11)”

그래서 “너희 중에 누구든지 지혜와 총명이 있으면 온유한 선행으로 그 지혜를 나타내라. 그러나 너희 마음에 악독한 시기와 이기적인 야망이 있으면 자랑하지 말고 진리를 부인하지 말라. 그런 지혜는 하늘에서 내려오거나 영적이지 않고 세상적이고 마귀에게서 나온 것이라. 시기와 이기적인 야망에서 혼란과 온갖 악행이 나옴이라. 하늘에서 오는 지혜는 첫째 순수하고 다음에 평화롭고 사랑스럽고 사려 깊고 순종적이며 자비롭고 선한 열매가 가득하며 편견과 거짓이 없음이라. 평화의 씨앗을 뿌리고 화평을 이루는 자들은 의의 열매를 거둠이라(3:13-18)” 오늘 우리에게 가르칩니다.

That is why the Lord God instruction it to us by the Scripture of today, as “Who is wise and understanding among you? Let them show it by their good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such wisdom dose not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, domestic. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace, loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, Impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who saw in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. (3:13-18)”

왜냐하면, “너희 가운데 싸움과 다툼이 왜 일어나느냐 너희 정욕에서 싸움이 일어나지 않느냐, 너희가 탐내도 얻지 못하므로 다투고 싸우며 원하는 것을 얻지 못하므로 죽이지만 너희가 하나님께 구하지 않기 때문에 얻지 못하며, 정욕으로 쓰려고 잘못 구하기 때문에 구하여도 얻지 못하는 것이라. 간음하는 자들아 세상과 벗이 되면 하나님을 미워하게 되고 누구든지 세상과 벗이 되면 하나님과 원수가 됨을 알지 못하느냐, 너희는 하나님께서 우리 속에 두신 성령께서 강력하게 시기하신다 하는 성경 말씀이 터무니없다 생각하느냐, 하나님은 교만한 자를 대적하시고 겸손한 자에게 은혜를 베푸신다 성경이 말하듯 그는 우리에게 더 많은 은혜를 주심이라(4:1-6)” 하였듯, 육신의 원죄와 저주로 더럽혀진 마음에서는 온갖 더럽고 추악한 죄가 끊임없이 솟아나기 때문입니다.

Because, all kinds of dirty and ugly sins constantly pour out from our hearts, which are defiled by the original sin and curse of the flesh, as “What causes fight and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasure. You, adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who choose to be a friend of the world becomes and enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that he jealously longs for the spirit he has caused to dwell in us? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble. (4:1-6)”

그러나 “하나님께 복종하며 마귀를 대적하면 마귀가 너희를 피하리라. 하나님께 가까이 나아가라 그러면 너희를 가까이하시리라 두 마음을 품은 죄인들아 마음과 손을 정결하게 하라. 너희 즐거움과 웃음을 근심과 애통으로 바꾸고 슬퍼하며 통곡하라. 주 앞에서 낮추라 그러면 주께서 너희를 높이심이라. 형제들아 서로 비방하거나 판단하지 말라 형제를 비방하고 판단하면 율법을 비방하고 판단하는 것이고 율법을 판단하면 율법을 지키는 자가 아니고 율법을 심판하는 죄임이라(4:7-12)” 하였듯, 성경 말씀을 믿고 하나님을 경외하며 맡기고 순종하면 인도하고 사용하며 이루시는 임마누엘 은혜를 얻어 변화됩니다.

However, everyone, surely be transformed by the grace of Immanuel, who guides, uses and accomplishes according to God’s will, if anyone who believes and loves the Words in the Bible, trusts in God, entrusts to him, and obeys Him, as “Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purity your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up. Brothers and sisters, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against a brother or sister or judges them speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgement on it. There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and destroy. But you, who are you to judge your neighbor? (4:7-12)”

왜냐하면, “오늘이나 내일이나 어떤 도시에 가서 일년을 머물며 장사하여 이익을 보리라 하는 자들아 들으라. 너희 생명은 잠깐 보이다가 없어지는 안개와 같고 내일 일도 너희가 알지 못하므로, 주의 뜻이면 우리가 이것이나 저것을 하며 살리라 말해야 함이라. 너희가 허풍을 떨고 자랑하지만 그런 자랑은 모두 악이라. 선행을 해야 하는 줄 알면서 행하지 아니하면 죄임이라(4:13-17)” 하였듯, 자신의 소유가 모두 자신의 이지와 노력으로 얻은 것이라 착각하지만, 하나님께서 허락하시지 아니하면 아무것도 이루지 못하고, 자신이 가진 것을 선하고 의롭게 사용하지 아니하면 심판을 받기 때문입니다.

Because, we mistakenly believe that everything we possess is obtained through our own will and effort, but we cannot achieve anything without God’s permission, and if we do not use what we have for good and righteous purposes, we will be judged, as “Now listen, you who say, Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money. Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, If, it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that. As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good that ought to do and doesn’t do sin for them. (4:13-17)”

그러므로 “형제들아 농부가 귀중한 곡식의 추수를 바라고 이른 비와 늦은 비를 기다리며 길이 참는 것같이 주께서 강림하실 때까지 길이 참으라. 주의 강림이 가까웠으니 너희도 굳건하게 서서 길이 참으라. 형제들아 심판의 주께서 문 밖에 서셨으니 서로 원망하지 말라 그렇지 아니하면 심판을 받으리라. 형제들아 고난에 맞서서 인내하며 주의 이름으로 말한 선지자들의 본받으라. 너희가 욥의 인내를 들었고 주께서 이루신 결말을 보았듯 주는 가장 자비롭고 긍휼히 많으시므로 우리가 인내하는 자를 복되다 함이라. 내 형제들아 아무 맹서도 하지 말라 하늘이나 땅이나 다른 무엇으로도 맹세하지 말고 오직 너희가 옳은 것은 옳다 아닌 것은 아니라 하여 정죄를 면하라(5:7-12)” 하였듯, 하나님께서 자신에게 허락하고 주신 모든 것으로 선하고 의로운 삶을 살며 복음의 진리를 전하고 임마누엘 하나님의 은혜와 사랑과 구원을 확신하고 죽기까지 순종해야 합니다.

Therefore, with all that God has permitted and given us, we must live a good and righteous life to spread the truth of the gospel, and obey until death, with confident in the grace, love and salvation of Immanuel God, as “Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crops, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains. You too, be patient and stand form, because the Lord’s coming is near. Don’t grumble against one another, brothers and sisters, or you will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door. Brothers and sisters, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we count as blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy. Above all, my brothers and sisters, do not swear, not by heaven or by earth or by anything else. All you need to say is simple, Yes, or No. Otherwise you will be condemned. (5:7-12)”

그러므로 “너희 중에 괴로운 자는 기도하고 즐거운 자는 찬송하라. 너희 중에 병든 자는 교회의 장로들을 청하고 장로들은 주의 이름으로 기름을 바르며 그를 위하여 기도하라. 믿음으로 기도를 드리면 주께서 병든 자를 고쳐 주시고 일으키시며 지은 죄도 용서하심이라. 의인의 기도는 역사하는 힘이 있으므로 너희 죄를 서로 고백하며 병 고침을 위하여 서로 기도하라. 엘리야도 우리와 똑같은 사람이었지만 그가 간절히 기도하여 삼 년 반 동안 땅에 비가 오지 않았고, 다시 기도하니 하늘이 비를 내리고 땅이 열매를 냈음이라. 내 형제들아 너희 중에 진리를 떠나서 방황하는 자가 있으면 그를 돌아오게 하라. 죄인을 미혹된 길에서 돌아서게 하면 그의 영혼을 사망에서 구원하고 많은 죄를 덮음이라(5:13-20)” 하였듯, 어떤 상황에서도 하나님의 신실하신 언약을 믿고 신뢰하며 간구하여 맡기고 복음의 진리를 전하며 구원으로 인도하는 생명의 열매를 맺으며 죽기까지 순종하여 구원을 얻어야 합니다. 사랑하는 성도 여러분, 말씀과 성령으로 가르치는 진리를 따라 지키며 순종하는 진실한 사랑으로 온전한 믿음을 이루어 대속과 구원을 얻어 부활하고 영생하기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Therefore, in any situation, we must believe in and trust God’s faithful covenant, entrust ourselves to Him through prayer, preach the truth of the gospel, bear the fruit of life that leads to salvation, and obey Him until death to attain salvation, as “Is anyone among you in trouble? Let him pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well, the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again, he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins. (5:13-20)” Dear saints, I pray earnestly in the name of Jesus Christ that you may all follow the truth taught by the Word and the Holy Spirit, keep it, and obey it with true love, attain perfect faith, obtain redemption and salvation, and be resurrected and live eternally in heaven of God, Amen.
