Scripture Reading: 2Peter 1~3

본문에서 “자기의 영광과 선함으로 우리를 부르신 이를 아는 지식을 통해 그의 신성한 능력으로 생명과 경건에 속한 모든 것을 우리에게 주셨으니, 너희가 세상의 사악한 정욕으로 말미암아 썩어지는 것을 피하고 신성한 본성에 참여하게 하려고 그가 지극히 크고 보배로운 약속을 우리에게 주셨음이라. 그러므로 너희가 최선을 다하여 믿음에 선함을, 선함에 지식을, 지식에 절제를, 절제에 인내를, 인내에 경건을, 경건에 형제 우애를, 형제 우애에 사랑을 더하라. 너희가 그런 자질을 충분하게 갖추면 너희가 우리 주 예수 그리스도를 아는 지식에 있어서 쓸모 없거나 열매 없는 자가 되지 아니하리라(1:3-8)” 하였듯, 선택하여 부르고 찾아와 가르치는 성령의 진리를 따라 절제하고 인내하며 선하고 의롭고 경건한 사랑의 열매를 맺어야 올바른 믿음입니다.

그래서 “그런 자질이 없는 자는 그가 옛 죄에서 깨끗하게 된 것을 잊은 자요 근시안적이고 눈먼 자라. 형제들아 그 무엇보다 너희의 부르심과 택하심을 더욱 굳건하게 하라 그러면 너희가 결코 넘어지지 않고, 우리 구주 예수 그리스도의 영원한 나라에서 풍성한 환영을 받으리라. 너희가 이미 그런 지식을 가지고 진리에 굳게 섰지만 내가 항상 다시 상기시키리라. 내가 이 육신의 장막에 살 동안 너희 기억을 새롭게 일깨우는 것이 옳은 줄 앎이라(1:9-13)” 하였듯, 그런 사랑의 열매가 없으면 믿음이 없는 자라 본문 말씀으로 경고하며 복음의 진리를 올바로 따라 사는지 항상 자신을 살피며 바로잡으라 가르칩니다.

Therefore, if you do not have such love and the fruit of life, you have no faith. The text warns you always examine yourself and correct yourself to see if you are living correctly according to the truth of the gospel, as “Whoever those not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. So, I will always remind you of these things, even though you know them and are firmly established in the truth you now have. I think it is right to refresh your memory as long as I live in the tent of this body. (1:9-13)”

왜냐하면 “우리가 교묘히 만든 이야기로 주 예수 그리스도의 능력과 강림을 너희에게 전하지 않았고 그의 위엄을 목격한 증인으로 전했음이라. 지극히 장엄하고 영광스럽게 이는 내 사랑하는 아들이요 내 기뻐하는 자라 말씀하셨을 때에 그가 하나님 아버지께 존귀와 영광을 받으셨음이라. 거룩한 산에서 그와 함께 있을 때에 하늘에서 나는 소리를 우리가 들었음이라. 우리에게는 어두운 데를 비추는 등불과 같이 더 확실한 예언이 있으니 너희 마음에 샛별이 뜨고 새벽이 올 때까지 너희가 말씀에 관심을 집중하라. 성경의 어떤 예언도 선지자가 사사로이 풀이한 것이 아님을 먼저 알아야 함이라(1:16-20)” 하였듯, 말씀을 진심으로 사랑하는 마음에 찾아오는 성령의 가르침으로만 진리를 올바로 알고 전하며 증거하는 생명의 열매를 맺기 때문입니다.

Because, only by receiving the teaching of the Holy Spirit, which come to those who truly love and follow the Word, can they bear the fruit of life, correctly knowing, spreading and testifying to the truth of the gospel, as “For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love, with him I am well pleased. We ourselves heard this voice that came from heaven when we were with him on the sacred mountain. We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention top it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. (1:18-20)”

왜냐하면 “그들이 탐욕으로 지어낸 이야기로 너희를 이용할 것이나 그들은 이미 오래 전에 하나님의 심판을 받았고 그들의 멸망은 잠들지 아니하리라. 하나님이 범죄한 천사들을 용서하시지 않고 지옥 어두운 구덩이에 던져 심판 때까지 지키게 하셨으며, 옛 세상을 용서하시지 않고 경건하지 않은 자들의 세상에 홍수를 내리셨으며 오직 의를 전하던 노아와 일곱 식구를 보존하셨고, 경건하지 않은 자들에게 본보기로 삼으시려고 소돔과 고모라 성을 불태워 재로 만드셨고, 불법한 자들의 더러운 행실로 고통 당하는 의로운 롯을 건지셨으니, 그들 가운데 살며 날마다 더러운 행실을 보고 들으며 그의 의로운 영혼이 상했음이라(2:4-8)” 하였듯, 성령의 가르침을 따라 배우고 순종하는 사람도 진리를 오해하고 잘못 전하는 실수를 많이 하기 때문입니다.

Because, even those who learn and obey the teachings of the Holy Spirit, often make the mistake of misunderstanding and mispresenting the truth, as “For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them in chains of darkness to be held for judgement, if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on it’s ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others, if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly, and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless, for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard. (2:4-8)”

그래서 “주께서 경건한 자는 시험에서 건지시고 의롭지 않은 자는 심판의 날까지 잡아 두고 형벌을 내리시며, 특히 육신의 더러운 욕망을 따라 행하며 하늘의 주관자를 멸시하는 자들에게 그리하시지만, 그들은 조금도 두려워하지 않고 당돌하고 거만하게 천사들을 비방함이라. 더 강하고 능력이 많은 천사들도 주 앞에서 그들을 거슬러 비방하거나 고발하지 못하나, 그들은 본래 잡혀 죽으려고 태어난 이성 없는 짐승 같이 알지 못하는 것을 비방하다 멸망을 당함이라(2:9-13)” 하였듯, 하나님의 엄격한 심판을 경고하며 경건한 삶을 살도록 가르칩니다.

So, the Scripture of today warn you that if you do not live a godly life, you will face God’s strict judgement, as “If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgement. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority. Bold and arrogant, they are not afraid to heap abuse on celestial beings, yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not heap abuse on such beings when bringing judgement on them from the Lord. But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like animals they too will perish. They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done. Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you. (2:9-13)”

왜냐하면, “그런 사람들은 칠흑같은 어둠이 예비된 물 없는 샘이요 광풍에 밀려 가는 안개라. 그들이 헛된 말로 자랑하며 그릇된 세상 삶에서 겨우 피한 사람들을 죄악 된 인간 본성의 정욕으로 유혹하지만, 그들이 자유를 약속할지라도 그들은 타락의 종들이니 사람은 자신을 지배하는 것의 노예가 됨이라. 사람들이 우리 구주 예수 그리스도를 알고 타락한 세상에서 벗어났다가 다시 빠져들고 얽매이면 나중 형편이 더 나빠지므로, 의의 길을 알고 전해진 거룩한 계명에서 돌아서는 것보다 알지 못하는 것이 더 나음이라(2:17-21” 하였듯, 누구든지 지속적으로 실수를 하면 죄의 종으로 심판하시는 하나님의 섭리 때문입니다.

Because, it is God’s providence that anyone who continues to repeat mistakes will be judged ad a slave to sin, as “These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them. For they mouth empty, boastful words and, by appealing to the lustful desires of the flesh, they entice people who are just escaping from those who live in error. They promise them freedom, while they themselves are slaves of depravity, for ‘people are slaves to whatever has mastered them. If they have escaped the corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse off at the end than they were at the beginning. It would have been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than to have known it and then to turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed on the them. (2:17-21)”

그러므로 “거룩한 선지자들이 예언한 말씀과 우리의 구원자 주께서 그의 사도들을 통하여 명령하신 말씀을 기억하라. 먼저 알 것은 말세에 조롱하는 자들이 와서 악한 정욕을 따라 비방하리라. 그들이 주께서 약속하신 강림이 어디 있느냐 우리 조상들이 죽은 이후에도 처음 창조될 때와 같이 모든 것이 계속될 뿐이라 하리라. 옛적에 하나님의 말씀으로 하늘이 있었고 땅이 물에 의하여 물에서 나와 성립된 것도 그들이 일부러 잊으려 함이라. 당시에 세상이 물이 넘치는 홍수로 멸망하였으나, 지금의 하늘과 땅은 경건하지 않은 사람들의 심판과 멸망의 날에 동일한 말씀으로 불사르기 위하여 보호하며 보존하실 뿐이라(3:2-7)” 하였듯, 사람들의 거짓된 비난이나 유혹에 속지 말고 그리스도의 구원에 소망을 두고 죽기까지 순종해야 합니다.

Therefore, do not be deceived by people’s false accusations or temptations, but place your hope in Christ’s salvation and obey him until death, as “I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles. Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation. But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgement and destruction of the ungodly. (3:2-7)”

왜냐하면, “사랑하는 친구들아 주께는 하루가 천년 같고 천년이 하루 같음을 잊지 말라. 어떤 사람들의 생각처럼 주의 약속은 느리지 아니하나 주께서는 아무도 멸망하지 않고 다 회개하기를 원하시며 오직 너희에게 오래 참으실 뿐이라. 그러나 주의 날이 도둑 같이 오리니 하늘은 큰 소리와 함께 사라지고 물질은 불에 타서 풀어지며 땅과 그 안의 모든 것이 드러나리라. 모든 것이 그렇게 녹으리니 너희가 어떤 사람이 되어야 마땅하냐 거룩한 행실과 경건하게 살며, 하나님께서 임하시는 날을 바라보며 간절히 사모하라 그 날에 하늘이 불에 타서 풀어지고 물질이 뜨거운 열기에 녹을 것이나, 우리는 그의 약속을 따라오는 정의로운 집 새 하늘과 새 땅을 기다림이라. 사랑하는 친구들아 그것을 바라는 너희는 주 앞에서 점도 없고 흠도 없이 평강 가운데 나타나기를 힘쓰라(3:8-14)” 하였듯, 하나님은 모든 사람이 회개와 구원에 이르기를 바라며 오래 참고 기다리시지만, 엄격하게 심판하시는 공의의 하나님이기 때문입니다. 성도 여러분, 구원의 언약에 소망을 두고 신뢰하며 죽기까지 순종하는 겸손한 믿음으로 영생의 천국에 들어가시기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Because, God is just God who judges strictly, yet He waits patiently long times for all people to repent and be saved, as “Do not forget this one thing, dear friends. With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives, as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. (3:8-14)” Dear saints, I pray and earnestly bless you all in the name of Jesus Christ, that you may enter the kingdom of eternal life with humble faith, trusting in the covenant of salvation and obeying even unto death.
