T: What's that list for, Grace? I see all our friends names on it.
G: We're having our annual potluck barbecue in two weeks. I'm getting organized.
T: I'm glad you're on the ball because I totally forgot about it! Have you sent out the e-vites yet?
G: I mailed personalized postcards with a picture from last year's barbecue to everyone instead. See? I thought it would be a nice touch.
T: Have you gotten any replies yet?/ G: Yeah, Tom said "I'll be there with bells on." Oh, and he's bringing baked beans.
T: Wow, it looks like people are starting to reply about the barbecue. Has anyone said they can't make it?
G: Not yet. I think 14 people said yes already.
T: That's great! but where is everyone going to sit? The picnic table holds 6 and we have very few outdoor chairs.
G: We don't have to enough chairs? How could I forget something so obvious?
T: Don't beat yourself up over it. I'll ask my brother if we can borrow his again.
G: Thanks, Terry! I don't know how I dropped the ball on this.
T: I think I heard Tom honk his horn. He's bringing over two extra tables along with his amazing potato salad.
G: It's so nice when people are willing to pitch in. I think this will be out best barbecue yet.
T: I just hope Tom hasn't let the fact that people applauded his potato salad last year go to his head.
G: I think Irene might give him a run for his money today./ T: Uh oh! Competing potato salads? Should I be worried?
G: Don't worry, nobody will be challenging your ribs this year.
T: You look really happy. Is it because everyone said it was the best barbecue they've ever been to?
G: Well, that definitely perked me up after spending the day running back and forth from the kitchen to the back yard.
T: Now that you mention it, you did spend more time running around than socializing.
G: You know I'm a people pleaser. It's in my nature.
T: You always had a clean glass or extra napkin at the drop of a hat. You were amazing./G: Thanks, honey. It was a really good day.
