자신을 사랑하는 사람들과 헛된 것을 좇는 자들

사람들이 자기를 사랑하며 돈을 사랑한다고 합니다.반면 하나님 사랑하는 일보다 더 쾌락을 사랑한다고 합니다. 경건의 모양만 갖추고 능력을 부인하는 모순적인 신앙을 보입니다. 이 모습은 교회밖의 사람들을 향한 말씀이라기보다 교회안에서 하나님을 안다는 사람들의 모습을 보여줍니다.

외모만을 그럴 듯하게 꾸민 종교인들이 많아진다는 것입니다. 종교인과 믿는 자의 차이는 사랑의 대상입니다. 하나님과 나 자신중에 어떤 것에 더 관심을 가지는가 하는 것입니다. 나 자신을 돋보이기 위한 도구로서 하나님의 능력과 은혜로 치장하는 사람은 하나님의 종이 아니라 죄의 종입니다.

이런 사람들은 감사하지 않고 거룩하지도 않다고 합니다. 원통을 풀지 않고 사납고 선한 것을 좋아하지 않습니다. 주변을 둘러보고 자신을 돌이켜 보면 이런 모습들을 많이 발견하게 됩니다. 돌아서라는 것은 죄와 거짓과 단절하고 의와 거룩을 좇으라는 것입니다. 나 자신 속에 꿈틀대는 세상 욕망과 인정받고 높임받고 싶은 마음대신 섬기고 위로하며 격려하고 하나님의 뜻을 따라 살기로 작정해야 할 것입니다.

남의 집에 들어가 어리석은 여자를 유인하는 자들은 교회에 들어온 어둠의 일군들입니다. 스스로는 하나님의 종이라 자부하지만 그들의 삶의 열매는 쓰고 독한 것을 보게 됩니다. 애굽의 마술사들이 모세를 대적하나 이기지 못한 것처럼 진리를 대적하는 자들의 마지막은 수치와 쓴 열매로 가득할 것입니다. 하나님은 이런 사람들의 어리석음을 드러내십니다. 지금은 사람들에게 칭송받고 높임받을지라도 마지막에는 그 정체가 폭로될 것입니다.

자신을 돌아보아 이런 어리석은 모습들이 내 속에 있는지 먼저 살펴야 할 것입니다. 진리에 순종하며 진리되신 그리스도를 열망하고 사모하길 원합니다. 세상을 뒤로하고 회개함으로 의의 옷을 입고 선하신 주님의 얼굴만을 바라보기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

💔 Loving Self Over God: A Call to True Devotion

In today’s world—and even within the church—many are consumed by self-love and the pursuit of pleasure. Scripture warns that people will become lovers of themselves and of money, preferring fleeting enjoyment over the love of God. They may appear godly, but deny the true power of godliness. This isn’t a critique of those outside the church—it’s a sobering portrait of those who claim to know God yet live in contradiction.

🕊️ Religion Without Relationship

We see a rise in outwardly religious individuals who decorate their lives with spiritual language and rituals, yet their hearts remain distant from God. The difference between a religious person and a true believer lies in the object of their love. Is it God—or is it self? If we use God’s grace and power merely to elevate ourselves, we are not servants of God, but slaves to sin.

Such people are described as ungrateful, unholy, unforgiving, and hostile to what is good. When we examine our own hearts, we may find traces of these traits. The call to “turn away” is not just a warning—it’s an invitation to break ties with sin and pursue righteousness and holiness.

🙌 Choosing Humility Over Recognition

Instead of chasing worldly validation and the desire to be exalted, we are called to serve, comfort, and encourage others. We must choose to live according to God’s will, not our own ambitions. This is the path of true discipleship.

⚠️ Beware of Deception Within

Scripture also warns of those who infiltrate the church, leading others astray while claiming to be servants of God. Yet the fruit of their lives is bitter. Like the magicians of Egypt who opposed Moses, they may resist the truth—but they will not prevail. Their end will be marked by shame and exposure, for God will reveal their folly.

🙏 A Call to Self-Examination and Surrender

Before pointing fingers, we must look inward. Are there seeds of foolishness, pride, or deception within us? Let us hunger for the truth, obey Christ, and turn our backs on the world. Through repentance, we clothe ourselves in righteousness and fix our eyes on the face of our good and faithful Lord.

May we be found faithful—not just in appearance, but in heart. In the name of Jesus, I bless you to walk in truth, clothed in grace, and filled with the love of God.
