Is it right to always see human nature as good
Is it human nature to always see yourself as the "good" person, even if it’s not always true?

nope - it’s nature to see yourself as nothing but a hot or cold tired or active hungry or happy goober looking for a place to lay down or something to excuse picking your teeth clean of later. But then along comes some genius that tells you stuff and if you listen you get candy and if you don’t listen you get beat. Now some folks don’t like candy - and some folks don’t like getting beat. So the folks that offer the candy with one hand and the club with the other hand put the candy crowd in one kraal and the beaten ones in another kraal and throw the “bad” ones over a cliff during dances where they praise themselves as “good”. Now not everybody thrown over the cliff is dead - and not everybody in the “beat” kraal is as broken boned as they are broken hearted. Time goes on, wounds heal, and eventually the Sioux outnumber the Ojibwe and that’s when the Men of George come across the black water to to beat Cetewayo for what Chaka and Dingaan screwed up with the Dutch. But once you get to identifiable names and dates you GOT identifiable names and dates - what you DON’T got is the millions of folks Without Names who are simply Eating Dates while their kids are chasing Horned Toads that show them which way to go; Following the Leader for finding snakes and grub is one thing - Following Snakes Promising You Grub is quite another. But to impose the Motives and Reflections of the Queen onto the folks that get killed in her name BY THE COUNCILS that whisper to each other behind her back is presumptuous imposition. The grunt may consider itself “good AT” their particular skill at killing and dying. But they only consider themselves Damn Fuckin Lucky if they happen not to get killed in the process.
I don’t think this can be so for everyone, I am constantly questioning my decisions & actions. I think sometimes it can be very easy to do the wrong thing based on anger. I try to be a good person, to do that I think we have to constantly be on our guard, at least I do. Obeying the law does not always make you a good person, the people who make up these laws are often totally ignorant in regards to what they are doing. Always let your conscience be your guide.
Keith.
Some people have enough mental and emotional strength to analyze themselves objectively and accept who they really are as imperfect and not always good. They are the healthy ones. But unfortunately are not the norm, nor the majority. Most people cannot stand to self evaluate because they can’t bear the truth about themselves. They do anything to keep from being alone with their thoughts. Then there are the narcissists, psychopaths, and sociopaths who think they are flawless. They have a skewed perception of the world and in their minds, they are never wrong, but everyone else is.
In a way, yes. I think we want to be the hero of our own story and a generally good person, so we justify our immoral acts and lie to keep that image. Cognitive dissonance and all that.
Wow great question I think the answer lies in the understanding of “self” in the Nicherin practice we use the analogy of looking into the mirror as a metapor of the our practice. meditation is very focused on placing the “self” into a proper perspective if you think and carefully think of near any dicision made in life, ask all of your friends irrespective of political or social alliance and why any particular decision was made, in 99.9% of the time the response will be because it satisfied “self”
I think so for majority of time.
Its tough to identify your own mistake than to comment on someone else.
Therefore sometime unknowingly, we do over estimate our worth, but with time I feel the realization comes to everyone. Although only some people have the courage to accept their fault .
It's human nature not to want to feel like the bad guy and we experence that sentiment.
No one enjoys being criticized, not even if it's self condemnation nobody else can see. We as humans can be delusional and see what we perceive the situation is or is not.
Nobody “ALWAYS” does anything. We will be beaten at our game, humbled and made to think about what we are doing. Call it fate, call it karma call it chastened from a perfect judge, it will happen.
