What do you think about the reality of human nature? Are we good, are we evil, or are we just trying to survive and doing whatever it takes? What do you think about the reality of human nature? Are we good, are we evil, or are we just trying to survive and doing whatever it takes? We are inherently evil, although to differing degrees. As part of the primates we are one of the most homicidal species on the planet. For understanding: Most mammal species virtually never kill each other. Furthermore we are the species that competed out most species out of existence. And last but not least: we are the only species that knows the golden rule in an intellectual sense and breaks it daily. Because: we all compete for limited resources (time, energy). Wherever their is competition there are loosers and in this case loosers tend to die (for example poor people die about a decade more early than rich). The golden rule basically say that we shall not cause others a worse fate than what we want to have for us. But when we strive to be winners we actually strive to break that rule. It would change only if we would strive to be equal but that is not what we do. Many of us do not even like a life without any form of competition so hardwired this urge in us is. So our entire existence is -in an ethical sense - build on a lie. Mainstream society will not make you aware of this fact because you can only earn money and power if you make people feel well about themselves. The study I am thinking of has its weakness but it is possible that only 10 percent of humanity can feel emotional empathy (which is not the same than cognitive empathy). Interestingly always when I read about people who have no empathy it says that some part of their brain is „not active“. If this is true it could be a sign of the de-evolution of brain capabilities that previously everyone had. But let‘s not overdue biological explanations - there is no proof that mind is physical. Furthermore be a bit careful about those who to readily admit that humanity is evil - often such views are entertained by the most evil part of humanity as an excuse for their own inhuman behaviour.
