할 일이 많아요.

(X) I have lots of works to do.
(O) I have lots of work to do.

You can't translate "할 일이 많다" as "I have lots of works." You say "I have a lot of work" or "I have lots of work."

When used to convey its most common meaning of "일," "work" cannot be singular or plural. The word "work" can mean "work of art"(작품) and used in this sense it can be singular or plural: "This is an outstanding work" or "The works of Shakespeare." But "work" can't be singular or plural when it means "일."


Lots of work 일이 많아요

TIP

"할 일이 많다"를 "I have lots of works"라고 번역하면 안 된다. "I have a lot of work"나 "I have lots of work"라고 말해야 한다. 제일 자주 쓰는 뜻인 "일"을 뜻할 때 "work"는 단수형이나 복수형이 될 수 없다. 단어 "work"는 "작품"을 뜻할 때도 있으며 "이것은 위대한 작품이다"나 "셰익스피어의 작품들"처럼 단수형이나 복수형이 될 수 있다. 하지만 "work"가 "일"을 의미할 때는 단수형이나 복수형이 될 수 없다.
