Market Overview □ Sugar confectionery remained the most affordable and popular indulgence product in Indonesia, with a target market ranging from children to adults. Indonesia with total population around 240 million people with a vast youth population (aged between 15 and 24) around 40.9 million underlines the potential massive size of confectionery market and the potentially dynamic opportunities on offer as this demography grows upwardly mobile. Youths are typically more receptive to innovation in confectionery products and the culture of snacking. □ The development of confectionery industry today is increasingly experiencing significant growth. This is characterized by numerous companies engaged in the confectionery industry, such as PT Konimex, PT Mayora, PT Orang Tua, and many more. The mushroomed on this industry is because of its tempting market potential, such a large population, consumer behavior and others. □ According to the research conducted by Business Monitor International, the sales volume of confectionery in 2013 was forecasted reached 186,475 tons with the value reached Rp 10,816,467. While, the production of sugar confectionery reached 134,886 tons and its sales reached 105,114 tons.
