감정(emotion, feeling)을 표현하는 동사(Verb)
영어에서 감정을 표현하는 동사는 거의 다 타동사이므로, 무생물 주어 구문으로 표시하거나 사람을 주어로 하여 수동태로 표현하는 경우가 많다.
놀람
surprise : vt.놀라게 하다 You surprised me. I was surprised.
alarm : vt. 깜짝 놀라게 하다 He was alarmed at the news.
astonish : vt. 놀라게 하다 I was astonished at your behaviour.
amaze : vt. 놀라게 하다 She was amazed to find him there.
stun : vt. 망연자실하게 하다 We were completely stunned by that.
startle : vt. 펄쩍 뛰게 하다 I was startled by the news of his death.
두려움
scare : vt. vi. 겁을 주다 She was scared at the strange noise.
frighten : vt. 오싹하게 하다 She was frightened by the dog.
terrify : vt. 무섭게 하다 The prospect of nuclear war terrified the population
당황, 창피
embarrass : vt. 당황하게 하다 Meeting strangers embarrasses Tom.
confuse : vt. 난처하게 하다. 혼동시키다 I was confused at my mistake.
puzzle : vi. 어찌할 바를 모르다 He puzzled over the problem quite a while.
bewilder : vt. 갈피를 못 잡게 하다 The boy was so bewildered that he didn't know what to do.

satisfy : vt. 만족시키다 I am satisfied with your progress.
content : vt. 만족시키다 Nothing contents her.
