수13:15

요단 동편의 땅을 분배받은 르우벤과 갓, 므낫세 반 지파의 영토를 상세히 서술합니다. 동편의 기업도 하나님이 주신 합법 한 기업이자 거룩한 통치의 영역입니다. 그러니 하나님의 정의로 살아야 합니다. 기업이 은혜로 주신 것임을 믿는다면 주 앞에 어떤 태도를 보여야 하는가? 예공! 아빠가 잡기에 능할 것 같지만 실은 카드는 백 전 백 패고, 음치에 몸치 라는 것을 너도 알 것이다. 물론 술도 좋아하지 않고 노래방 가는 것을 질색팔색을 하였는데 노래방 영업 5년 하면서 음주 가무에 당구, 골프, 도박까지 대충은 마스터했으나, 장기와 바둑은 아직 까지 배우지 못했다.

미디안 귀족들의 죽음과 브올의 아들 점술가 발람의 죽음은 이것이 심판의 성격을 가진 정복이었음을 짐작하게 하는 것으로 보면 되겠다. 두 지파 반이 요단 땅을 요단 땅을 요구한 것은 하나님의 뜻에 부합하는 행동은 아닐 것이다. 정복전쟁을 회피하는 것처럼 들리고, 하나님이 약속한 땅보다 천해의 조건을 가진 땅을 더 신뢰한다는 의미일 수 있으며, 하나님이 정해주신 땅보다 자신들의 안목으로 고른 땅을 더 신뢰하겠다는 의미일 수 있으니 말이다.

이 모든 불 신앙적인 요소들을 용납하지 않으면서 모세는 분배를 하였다. 그들이 원하는 대로가 아니라, 하나님의 뜻대로 분배를 하였어. 그 땅에서 누릴 안식의 시기도 하나님이 정하셨다. 형제들이 가나안 땅을 정복하고 안식을 누리기 시작하면 동 편 땅도 안식 할 것이다. 레위 지파 만은 땅을 기업으로 받지 못했다. 그들에게는 경작할 땅이 없지만, 다른 지파들이 소유하지 못한 기업(하나님)이 있기 때문에 문제될 것은 없다.

그들은 그 어떤 지파 보다 더 부요한 기업을 받은 것이야. 땅이 주는 안식과 진짜 참된 안식을 비교해 보라. 예공! 번성이 있는 곳엔 인간의 욕망이 모이고, 안전보다 경쟁이 존재한다는 것을 기억하면서 하나님께서 우리에게 주신 땅이 최고라는 생각으로 작정하고 가는 공동체와 손 붙잡고 가자. 기업 무름을 얼마나 소중하게 여기고 살아가는가? 모든 것이 은혜로 주어졌음을 믿는 자가 보여야 할 태도는 무엇인가?
