신명기19장 말씀입니다.

1. {주} 네 [하나님]께서 민족들을 끊어 버리시고 {주} 네 [하나님]께서 그들의 땅을 네게 주시므로 네가 그들의 뒤를

    이어 그들의 도시와 집에 거할 때에

When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses; 

2. 너는 {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네게 주어 소유하게 하시는 네 땅의 한가운데에 너를 위하여 세 도시를 구별하며

Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

3. 또 {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네게 상속 재산으로 주시는 네 땅의 지경을 세 부분으로 나누고 너를 위해 길을 예비하여

    살인자마다 거기로 도피하게 할지니라.

Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every slayer may flee thither.

4. 살인자가 거기로 도피하여 살 수 있는 경우는 이러하니 곧 누구든지 과거에 자기 이웃을 미워한 적이 없이 알지

    못하는 가운데 그를 죽인 경우니라.

And this [is] the case of the slayer, which shall flee thither, that he may live: Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he hated not in time past; 

5. 가령 사람이 자기 이웃과 함께 나무를 베러 숲에 들어가 손에 도끼를 들고 나무를 베려고 찍을 때에 도끼가 자루에서

    빠져나와 그의 이웃을 맞추어 그를 죽게 하는 경우 같은 것이라. 그는 그 도시들 중 하나로 도피하여 살 것이니라.

As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of those cities, and live: 

6. 그 사람이 과거에 그를 미워한 적이 없으므로 죽이기에 합당하지 아니하지만 피를 복수하려는 자의 마음이 뜨거워서

    그가 그 살인자를 뒤따르는데 그 길이 멀므로 그를 따라잡아 죽일까 염려하노라.

Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he [was] not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. 

7. 그러므로 내가 네게 명령하여 이르기를, 너는 너를 위해 세 도시를 구별하라, 하노라.

Wherefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.

8. {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네 조상들에게 맹세하신 대로 네 지경을 넓히시고 네 조상들에게 주리라고 약속하신 땅을 다

    네게 주시든지

And if the LORD thy God enlarge thy coast, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which he promised to give unto thy fathers;

9. 혹은 내가 이 날 네게 명령하는 이 모든 명령을 네가 지키고 행하며 {주} 네 [하나님]을 사랑하고 항상 그분의 길로

    걸으면 너는 너를 위해 이 세 도시 외에 세 도시를 더하여

If thou shalt keep all these commandments to do them, which I command thee this day, to love the LORD thy God, and to walk ever in his ways; then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three:

10. {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네게 상속 재산으로 주시는 네 땅에서 무죄한 피가 흘려지지 아니하게 하고 이로써 그 피가

      네게 돌아가지 아니하게 하라.

That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance, and [so] blood be upon thee.

11. 그러나 어떤 사람이 자기 이웃을 미워하여 숨어서 그를 기다리다가 일어나 그를 치되 죽도록 쳐서 그를 죽게 하고

      이 도시들 중 하나로 도피하거든

But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die, and fleeth into one of these cities: 

12. 그의 도시의 장로들이 사람을 보내어 그를 거기서 데려다가 피의 원수를 갚는 자의 손에 넘겨주어 그를 죽이게 할

      것이니라.

Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die.

13. 네 눈이 그를 불쌍히 보지 말며 무죄한 피 흘린 죄를 네가 이스라엘에서 제거할지니 그리하면 네가 잘되리라.

Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away [the guilt of] innocent blood from Israel, that it may go well with thee.

14. 너는 {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네게 주어 소유하게 하시는 땅에서 곧 네 상속 재산이 될 네 상속 유업에서 옛 사람들이

      정한 네 이웃의 지계표를 옮기지 말지니라.

Thou shalt not remove thy neighbours landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt inherit in the land that the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.

15. 어떤 사람이 죄를 짓는 때에 한 증인이 일어나서 어떤 불법이나 죄에 대해 그 사람을 대적하지 말며 두 증인의 입의

      증언으로나 세 증인의 입의 증언으로 그 문제를 확정할 것이니라.

One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established.

16. 만일 거짓 증인이 일어나서 어떤 사람을 대적하며 그 사람을 치려고 잘못된 것을 증언하면

If a false witness rise up against any man to testify against him [that which is] wrong; 

17. 분쟁하는 그 두 사람이 {주} 앞에서 그 당시의 제사장들과 재판관들 앞에 설 것이요,

Then both the men, between whom the controversy [is], shall stand before the LORD, before the priests and the judges, which shall be in those days;

18. 재판관들은 부지런히 조사할지니, 보라, 그 증인이 거짓 증인이며 자기 형제를 치려고 거짓으로 증언하였거든

And the judges shall make diligent inquisition: and, behold, [if] the witness [be] a false witness, [and] hath testified falsely against his brother;

19. 너희는 그가 자기 형제에게 행하려고 생각한 대로 그에게 행하여 이로써 너희 가운데서 악을 제거하라.

Then shall ye do unto him, as he had thought to have done unto his brother: so shalt thou put the evil away from among you.

20. 그리하면 남은 자들이 듣고 두려워하여 그 뒤로는 너희 가운데서 다시는 그런 악을 행하지 아니하리라.

And those which remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil among you.

21. 네 눈이 불쌍히 보지 말라. 오직 생명은 생명으로, 눈은 눈으로, 이는 이로, 손은 손으로, 발은 발로 갚을지니라.

And thine eye shall not pity; [but] life [shall go] for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot.
