EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Lakers did not make a move when the NBA trade deadline came and went last week, deciding to move forward with their three-peat bid with their roster as is.
This week, as a secondary market of available players has emerged after teams have bought-out several notable veterans and placed them on waivers, the Lakers have not been involved in the initial wave of waiver wire acquisitions.
"We're still aware of who has been released and when [Lakers general manager] Mitch [Kupchak] gets back from Europe, we'll talk about it," Lakers head coach Phil Jackson said after practice Thursday.
Jackson said there was "a couple places we could use some backup help or some insurance" but would not go any more specific than that when speaking about any potential additions by the Lakers.
Among the teams active on the waiver wire have been the Miami Heat (Mike Bibby), Boston Celtics (Troy Murphy and Sasha Pavlovic) and Dallas Mavericks (Corey Brewer). All three teams have better records than Los Angeles.
"They're quality players, or have been in the past," Jackson said of the pickups. "They should have something left in the tank to help out their new teams."
Jackson identified the waiver-wire process as a trend that has grown in the NBA over the past six to seven years, calling it a "new fad."The Celtics signed veterans Sam Cassell and P.J. Brown after they cleared waivers in 2008 and both players proved to be instrumental to Boston's title run when they beat the Lakers in the Finals that season.

PLEASE PROVE ME WRONG

샬럿전은 가비지 타임 승리를 해야 그동안 당한것이 약간이나마 풀릴것 같습니다.. 최근에 이긴 기억이 통 안나네요;;;;
