신명기21장 말씀입니다.

1. {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네게 주어 소유하게 하시는 땅에서 혹시 죽어서 들에 쓰러진 자를 발견했으나 누가 그를

    죽였는지 알지 못하거든

If [one] be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, [and] it be not known who hath slain him:

2. 네 장로들과 재판관들이 나가서 죽임 당한 자의 사방에 있는 도시들까지의 거리를 잴 것이요,

Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which [are] round about him that is slain:

3. 그 죽임 당한 자에게서 가장 가까운 도시 곧 그 도시의 장로들이 아직 부리지 않았고 멍에를 메지 않은 암송아지 한

    마리를 취하고

And it shall be, [that] the city [which is] next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, [and] which hath not drawn in the yoke;

4.그 도시의 장로들이 갈지도 심지도 못하는 거친 골짜기로 그 암송아지를 끌고 가서 거기서 골짜기에서 그 암송아지의

   목을 꺾을 것이니라.

And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifers neck there in the valley:

5. 레위의 아들 제사장들도 가까이 올지니라. {주} 네 [하나님]께서 그들을 택하사 자신을 섬기게 하시며 또 {주}의

    이름으로 축복하게 하셨나니 모든 분쟁과 모든 싸움을 그들의 말에 따라 재판할 것이니라.

And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be [tried]: 

6. 그 죽임 당한 자에게서 가장 가까운 도시의 모든 장로들은 그 골짜기에서 머리가 잘린 암송아지 위에서 손을 씻으며

And all the elders of that city, [that are] next unto the slain [man], shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:

7. 응답하여 이르기를, 우리 손이 이 피를 흘리지 아니하였고 우리 눈이 그것을 보지 못하였나이다.

And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen [it].

8. 오 {주}여, 주께서 구속하신 주의 백성 이스라엘에게 긍휼을 베푸시고 무죄한 피를 주의 백성 이스라엘의 책임으로

    두지 마옵소서, 하면 그들이 그 피에 대해 용서받으리니

Be merciful, O LORD, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israels charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them. 

9. 너는 이와 같이 {주}의 눈앞에서 올바른 것을 행하여 무죄한 피를 흘린 죄를 너희 가운데서 제거할지니라.

So shalt thou put away the [guilt of] innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do [that which is] right in the sight of the LORD.

10. 네가 나가서 네 원수들과 싸우려 할 때에 {주} 네 [하나님]께서 그들을 네 손에 넘겨주시므로 네가 그들을 포로로

      사로잡은 뒤에

When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the LORD thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,

11. 포로들 중에서 아름다운 여자를 보고 그녀를 취하려는 소원이 있어서 그녀를 네 아내로 삼고자 하거든

And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;

12. 그녀를 네 집으로 데려갈 것이요, 그녀는 자기 머리를 밀고 손톱을 깎고

Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails; 

13. 또 포로의 의복을 벗고 네 집에 거하며 자기 아버지와 어머니를 위하여 한 달 동안 애곡할지니 그 뒤에 네가

      그녀에게로 들어가 그녀의 남편이 되고 그녀는 네 아내가 되리라.

And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.

14. 그 뒤에 만일 네가 그녀를 기뻐하지 아니하거든 그녀가 원하는 대로 가게 하되 결코 돈을 받고 그녀를 팔지

      말지니라. 네가 그녀를 비천하게 하였은즉 그녀를 상품취급하지 말지니라.

And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.

15. 어떤 사람이 두 아내를 두었는데 하나는 사랑을 받고 하나는 미움을 받다가 사랑을 받는 자와 미움을 받는 자가

      둘 다 그에게 아이들을 낳았는데 미움을 받는 자의 아들이 맏아들이거든

If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, [both] the beloved and the hated; and [if] the firstborn son be hers that was hated:

16. 그는 자기가 가진 것을 자기 아들들에게 상속물로 주는 때에 사랑을 받는 자의 아들을 맏아들로 삼아서 참 맏아들

      곧 미움을 받는 자의 아들보다 앞세우지 말고

Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit [that] which he hath, [that] he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, [which is indeed] the firstborn:

17. 반드시 미움을 받는 자의 아들을 맏아들로 인정하여 자기의 모든 소유에서 그에게 두 몫을 줄지니 그 아들이 그의

      힘의 시작이므로 맏아들의 권리가 그에게 있느니라.

But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated [for] the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he [is] the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn [is] his. 

18. 어떤 사람에게 고집이 세고 반항하는 아들이 있는데 그가 자기 아버지의 음성이나 자기 어머니의 음성에 순종하지

      아니하고 그들이 징계해도 그들의 말에 귀를 기울이지 아니하거든

If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and [that], when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:

19. 그의 아버지와 어머니가 그를 붙잡아서 자기 고장의 성문에 이르러 자기 도시의 장로들에게 나아가

Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;

20. 자기 도시의 장로들에게 말하기를, 우리의 이 아들은 고집이 세고 반항하며 우리의 음성에 순종하려 하지 아니하고

      음식을 탐하는 자요 술주정뱅이라, 하거든

And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son [is] stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; [he is] a glutton, and a drunkard.

21. 그의 도시의 모든 사람이 그를 돌로 쳐서 죽일지니 너는 이같이 하여 너희 가운데서 악을 제거할지니라.

      그리하면 온 이스라엘이 듣고 두려워하리라.

And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.

22. 사람이 만일 죽음에 해당하는 죄를 지었으므로 네가 그를 죽여 나무 위에 달거든

And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:

23. 그의 몸을 밤새도록 나무 위에 두지 말고 반드시 그 날에 그를 묻어서 {주} 네 [하나님]께서 네게 상속 재산으로

      주시는 땅을 더럽히지 말지니라. (나무에 달린 자는 [하나님]께 저주받은 자니라.)

His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; [is] accursed of God; that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God giveth thee [for] an inheritance.
