Tyre and Caesarea
1-4
And so, with the tearful good-byes behind us, we were on our way.
We made a straight run to Cos, the next day reached Rhodes, and then Patara.
There we found [a ship /going direct to Phoenicia], got on board, and set sail.

we looked up the local disciples and stayed with them seven days.
Their message to Paul, from insight /given by the Spirit, was “Don’t go to Jerusalem.”

Their message 그들의 전언/말은 to Paul 바울에게 한, from insight 통찰력에서 온 /given 주어진
by the Spirit 성령님에 의해, was “Don’t go to Jerusalem 예루살렘으로 가지 마라 였다.”
* 성령님께서 바울에게는 가라 하시고 다른 제자들에게는 가지 말라고 하시면 한 입으로 두 말하신다 보이나
바울이 가면 감옥에 갇힐 것을 다른 제자들의 통찰력을 통해 보여 주시니 제자들이 가지 말라고 한 것이지
성령님께서 제자들을 시켜 바울이 가지 못하게 말리시는 것이 아닌 건 바울의 말이 증명한다
5-6
When our time was up, they escorted us out of the city to the docks.
Everyone came along—men, women, children.
They made a farewell party of the occasion!
We all kneeled together on the beach and prayed.
Then, after another round of saying good-bye,
we climbed on board the ship /while they drifted back to their homes.

다시는 못 볼 죽음의 길로 가는 바울을 위해 그정도도 자존심이 허락 못해 못 한다면
우리를 대신해서 죽어 주신 예수 그리스도를 위해서도 공개적인 기도를 못할 것이라
그 자존심은 자신의 신념이나 가치를 방어하는 수호천사는 커녕 패망의 선봉인 존심마귀 교만 천사가 분명한데
뉴욕 타임 스퀘어 목사님은 마약 중독자의 간절한 기도 요청에 보행자 가득한 브로드 웨이 길거리에서
공개적으로 기도를 해서 마약 중독자가 마약에서 해방되는 기적도 일어났기에
골방 기도가 기본이지만 필요하다면 공개적인 기도 역시도 해야 한다 사료됨
혹시 말을 잘 못하니 기도가 창피하다 주장하지만 말도 잘 못하는 유아가 처음으로 엄마 소리 하나 했다고
부모가 숨너머 가도록 좋아하는 모습을 상기한다면 말을 잘해서만이 잘하는 기도가 아님을 알 수 있다
7-9
A short run from Tyre to Ptolemais completed the voyage.
We greeted our Christian friends there and stayed with them a day.
In the morning we went on to Caesarea and stayed with Philip the Evangelist, one of “the Seven.”
Philip had four virgin daughters //who prophesied.

After several days of visiting,
[a prophet from Judea by the name of Agabus] came down /to see us.
He went right up to Paul, took Paul’s belt,
and, in a dramatic gesture, tied himself up, hands and feet.
He said, “This is what the Holy Spirit says:
The Jews in Jerusalem are going to tie up [the man //who owns this belt just like this]
and hand him over /to godless unbelievers.”

12-13
When we heard that,
we and everyone there that day begged Paul not to be stubborn and persist in going to Jerusalem.
But Paul wouldn’t budge:
“Why all this hysteria?
Why do you insist on making a scene and making it even harder for me?

Why 왜 do you insist 고집하느냐 on making a scene 공개적인 난리법석을 쳐서
and making it 일을 만드냐 even harder 더 어렵게 조차 for me 나에게?
You’re looking at this backward.
The issue in Jerusalem is not what they do to me,
whether arrest or murder,
but what the Master Jesus does through my obedience.
Can’t you see that?”

Can’t you see that 그걸 볼 수 없느냐?”
* backward viewpoint 꺼꾸로 보는 시각은 누구나 가진 오점/오류/결점이나 옳다고 믿으니 장점되고
정작 바른 시각이 잘못된 시각으로 낙점받는 경이로운? 일이 벌어지는데
바울의 지적대로 사람들이 내게 무엇을 하느냐가 바른 시각이 아니고 (인간 기준으로 본 시각)
주권적인 주님께서 내 순종을 통해 무엇을 이루시시려는지를 보는 시각이 옳은 시각인 것이
참 현실은 바로 그리스도이신 때문에 (골 2:17) 그리스도의 시각이 옳은 시각이 된다

We saw that we weren’t making even a dent in his resolve, and gave up.
“It’s in God’s hands now,” we said. “Master, you handle it.”

It wasn’t long /before we had our luggage together and were on our way to Jerusalem.
Some of the disciples from Caesarea went with us and took us to the home of Mnason,
who received us warmly as his guests.
A native of Cyprus, he had been among the earliest disciples.

17-19
In Jerusalem, our friends, glad to see us, received us with open arms.
The first thing next morning, we took Paul /to see James.
All the church leaders were there.
After a time of greeting and small talk,
Paul told the story, detail by detail, of what God had done among the non-Jewish people through his ministry.
They listened /with delight and gave God the glory.

But there’s also a problem /because they are more zealous than ever in observing the laws of Moses.
They’ve been told that you advise [believing Jews //who live surrounded by unbelieving outsiders]
[to go light on Moses],
telling them that they don’t need to circumcise their children or keep up the old traditions.
This isn’t sitting at all well with them.

“We’re worried about what will happen /when they discover () you’re in town.
There’s bound to be trouble.
So here is [what we want you to do]:

Then it will become obvious to everyone that there is nothing to the rumors /going around about you
and that you are in fact scrupulous in your reverence for the laws of Moses.

So Paul did it—took the men, joined them in their vows, and paid their way.
